Re: [LegacyUG] How to query in 7.5
I am so glad you were able to help her. As for me, I never set my relationships to 999, which as you say, would be ridiculous (and yes I have gotten back to medieval and earlier times). What I am most interested in is direct ascent/descent, although I find it interesting to discover the ancestral relatives. Re: [LegacyUG] How to query in 7.5
Just because someone doesn't have a death date does not mean he is still alive. Many people do not have a death date because it is unknown, but they are obviously dead because they were born about 1325, or 1725, etc. That's why Legacy 7.5 has the option: If there is no death date when saving a record: Ask if living if over ; Set as dead if over . For the many hundreds of people whom I have whose birth and death dates are unknown, I must use evidence of dated documents signed by or mentioning him to estimate a birth year. If someone were born in 1926 and died in 1927 they would still show up on that list, but they aren't over 90 yrs old. If you look at birth year before 1927 AND death year is blank then you'd get all the people who are still alive and 90+. It would also pick up all those people who don't have a death date entered yet because it isn't known. It would miss those born before 1927 and lived 90+ years before dying. The person has to be born in 1926 or earlier and either still be alive (no death date) or they died after they turned 90 (death year minus birth year). Since age is a calculated amount and I don't know how to do that in Legacy, you might have to do a separate search for: 1) those who were born before 1927 and are still alive (death date blank) 2) then for each year before 1927 birthdate before 1926 AND deathdate after 2016 birthdate before 1925 AND deathdate after 2015... etc - Evelyn On Wed, Aug 16, 2017 at 4:28 PM, Mark <markl...@adam.com.au<mailto:markl...@adam.com.au>> wrote: Patricia, It wouldn’t matter whether you have Legacy 7.5, 8 or 9; this procedure works for all Legacy versions. Re: [LegacyUG] How to query in 7.5
Thanks Mark - but I'm not looking for anyone still alive. I want to be able to tell him (at his upcoming birthday gathering) that he is one of X number of our family who lived to at least 90 years (he may be the only one for all I know). Since there isn't a way to calculate and insert age (maybe an event creation?) , there is no way to sort and print a list that I can figure out. Any other ideas will be appreciated. Patricia, It wouldn’t matter whether you have Legacy 7.5, 8 or 9; this procedure works for all Legacy versions. Your Uncle is going to 90, therefore, he was born in 1927 Using Search > Find Look for Whom: Individual Where to Look: Birth Date How to Look: Before What to Look For: 1927 Second Condition : AND Look for Whom: Individual Where to Look: Birth Date How to Look: After What to Look For: 1926 This will find anyone in your database who is born for the whole year of 1926, because whole year dates are taken from 1 Jan to 31 Dec.
