I have recently been given a Compro VideoMate T750 to get working with
Linux. Unfortunately it is not yet supported by the v4l-dvb drivers.
This is an Australian card has the following features:
- Analog TV Tuner (PAL-BG?)
- Analog TV Capture (SVideo Composite)

When changing from analog to digital, the SAA7134_TS_PARALLEL changed.
e4 was for DVB but I didn't capture the analog :-(
I think I'll put the card back into a linux box and try hacking some
things together.

This is more of a status update than any major breakthrough.
I got the IR working under linux by using an existing card type. I
also got regspy on windows working but it only shows some GPSTATUS

The lid is a folded sheet of metal and soldered on at 4 points. I
stared with pliers but in then used the dremel to remove both the covers.
The digital tuner is:

I am pretty use the analog tuner is:

There are some more numbers but it is
I was wondering if someone could help clarify some terminology used by
the dvb drivers. I am a bit confused between the use of the following:
- frontend
- tuner
- pll
- demod
I am also wondering what i2c_gate is and what it is for.
Thanks

to help out.
I am going to borrow a scope from work and then I should be able to
snoop on the i2c bus while using the windows driver. That should get
things moving.

I have made some slow progress with the T750. I have implemented
loading the firmware for the CX2028 but I have hit a problem.
After loading the firmware, there are some commands (known as the 'MAGIC
VALUES') which need to be issued. These are the same as for the
CX3028. After this final
I don't know how that would be added.
Anyway, I have loading firmware but still no TV. I think I am close though.
i2c traces and firmware can be downloaded from here

I'll try and clean up my code and post a patch tomorrow.

I have had some success with loading the firmware. I has a suspicion
that I needed to twiddle the GPIO pins but could not get it to work.
Studying the xc3028 driver showed me the way. The GPIO needs to be

Success!
I have to sort out the channels in tvtime and no audio yet but analog tv
is working.
I'll post an updated patch which works against the experimental branch.

Hi,

I have uploaded a patch which adds T750 support to the

The patch is here

At the moment only analog TV is supported. So far I have not got any

Digital is detected but not yet working

If so, I have the same card. It does not support audio capture. You
must you the supplied cable to connect to you sound card aux/line in.
You then must configure alsa correctly to allow recording from the input

Anyway do you know the exact difference between DVB-T in Australia and
other countries?
I can answer that. AS4599 and AS4933 are the standards for DVB-T in
Australia. It is basically ETSI standard DVB-T. It defines the
meanings of content descriptors and ratings
The transmissions settings do change from time to time. The only thing
you can rely on is the frequency, and then it could change as well, but
only +-125kHz. I have found with my Dvico Fusion Plus card that using
auto for everything works, and the card auto detects the 125kHz offset
as well.
Australian LCN is based on the UK one (I think they are identical
structure, it is just the meaning of the data which is different).
dvbscan does not pick out this info. I have a program which does if you
want to test it. (It is descriptor 83 and defined in AS4933.1). You can

IMHO, the only correct way to scan for channels is:
- get an authoritative list of frequencies (I have compiled a list from
various sources which is included below. 2 channels have been moved by
1MHz to line things up a bit better. I have included both the old and
the new frequencies in my
change from analog to
digital, using their existing
channels.
So it is special legacy case and unless you want to hack into the link,
they do not need to be scanned.

Unfortunately I am unable to continue working on the T750. I have given

If anyone else wants to work on it I am happy to pass on the information
