Any emails with CSS we have done that were successful had no doctype or head. The outer-most container was the body tag. Also, all CSS had to be embedded in-line and repeated on elements as some online services strip CSS out of the head if it¹s there. For email, you gained the element control of CSS - which is far better than old-school spacer gifs and font tags - but lost a lot of the efficiencies. Re: [WSG] *Pure* CSS drop down menu
Title: Re: [WSG] *Pure* CSS drop down menu FWIW, what we have done in the past uses JS timers as mentioned to auto hide the drops when not moused on as well as JS to show/hide layers (the drop menus). Otherwise, if JS is off, the main nav button that would have triggered the drop is clickable, bringing you to a section home/landing with a sub nav of the missed drop menu items. If you are trying to do a cutting-edge design that focuses on a specific audience that ain't blind - I don't see why you cannot force a variety of text-sizes. Typography is an art too - print designers can use type to add to the design - we can't?? I love using EMs for certain kinds of sites - but it has it's place like anything else. [WSG] Requested Unscientific Browser Poll Results
Hello again listers, I received a few messages expressing more than just a passing interest in this little poll, so apparently this has been on the minds of others as well as my own. Submissions have stopped, so here we go... First, my operating ground rules: As I am doing this myself, and do not have a statistics major as part of my academic history, this is far from scientifically accurate. If you replied with a 'My Top 3' laundry list, I only took the choice listed as 1st choice. If more than one OS was listed (man are we nerds) then I took the first choice for each OS. However, _which_ OS you used was not important to me so that was not recorded. For example: On Mac I use Safari, and FF. On Win I use Opera and FF That equated to 1 vote for Safari and 1 vote for Opera. The Results: Opera: 9 FF: 26 Safari: 4 SeaMonkey: 1 Camino: 3 IE: 1 --- 8-O Kon: 2 -- Tom Livingston Senior Multimedia Artist Media Logic www.mlinc.com ** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list getting help **
