For an interesting contrast, please see the document/app mentioned at:

LyX being able to author such would be huge.

I'd just like to note that I really like this idea, and would really love
to see it happen --- I tried to use Jupyter Notebook a while back, but got
bogged down for various reasons, and having its functionalities as a
stand-alone desktop app which would make nice PDFs would suit my needs

I've asked before, and I'd really like to see direct support for pandoc in
File | Open/Save or (Import/Export) whatever makes sense --- just install
pandoc if it's not available and allow one to directly convert stuff into
and out of LyX.
I'd be fine w/ a separate menu or menu entry for pandoc
I tried the two installers on a pretty fresh Windows 10 reinstall --- the
bundle one wasn't able to get the MikTeX install going (known problem?)
The other worked fine in the absence of a TeX installation and let me
launch the program (w/ suitable warnings about not being able to compile

As a person who just discovered Jupyter Notebooks and is working on one now
for a project (calculating feeds and speeds for a CNC machine), I'd just
like to note that having a native facility in LyX to import them, or better
still round-trip them (at least some defined subset of their
Nice work!
One thing I'd ask you to look into --- work out how the Scribus folks get
CMYK pdfs out of Inkscape, and include thusly, so that black is not defined
as RGB, so that when separated to CMYK it will appear on all plates

Focused on fiction, but I found the idea of being able to directly open a
web page interesting ---
to use LyX to open up
arbitrary files on the 'net, using pandoc c. to convert them to .lyx files
Would this be something to build into LyX or should it be supported by the
toolkit? If File | Open wouldn't be suitable, could we add a File | Import from
URL?

the best solution would be for QT to become friendly to screen readers,
but that's out-of-scope.
