redhat hyphenation doesn't work
I'm using full install of IT Linux 2000, which is for practical matters equal to Red Hat 6.2. (it has same packages). It has the package "tetex 1.0.6-11" installed. The problem is that finnish hyphenation doesn't work at all. Many words don't get hyphenated at all and the rest are usually hyphenated wrong, generally like they would be hyphenated in English (which is wrong). I have selected finnish in "Layout/Document/Language". I remember having similar problem with Slackware 3.1, but currently it works fine at home, where I have installed tetex from source-tar packages. Is there some "magic" way to get the redhat tetex working, or do I have to remove it and install manually from scratch (which is not so small task).

Or is the other way round ? Although thought I had the right version at least accorfing to the RedHat 7.0 RPM database I have obtained a new version from one of the mirrors mentioned in the 'INSTALL' file and the errors are now gone. Just in case somebody stumbles into the same hole. I have downloaded: 855918 May 30 1999 bxform-088-glibc2.1.tgz from ftp://ncmir.ucsd.edu/pub/xforms/ That seems to fit a standard RedHat 7.0 installation. I have just done a 'make install' with it and _not_ previously removed the installed RPM version. After installing this, LyX compiled and linked cleanly. - -- Friedemann Baitinger [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://baiti.net/fb/ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.0.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE6gCQl8ZparKdkcvIRAv5AAJ9iH/ECkhRgbwlWwxrcy5XKWkBwUgCeN/B8 bgwMjRkUdxpABwOjigjJQgs= =U2e8 -END PGP SIGNATURE-
LyX 1.6 fix1 RPM doesn't seem to install LyX?
Hi, I've updated LyX (on RedHat 7 machine) from LyX 1.5.2 to 1.6n (latest version) but upon starting LyX the help file (I have the splash window turned off) says that the version is still 1.5.2. Yet RPM indicates (rpm -Uhv etc) that LyX 1.6.n is installed when I run it (the last time I used rpm -Uhv --force LyX-etc. Is this really still 1.5.2 or is the version now stating a mistaken version number? I tried it now with "german" and "ngerman" -- for both it's the same: "\frenchspacing" is not used automaticaly! And it newer did for me. It is allways the same: First I forget the "\frenchspacing" until I see the spacing errors. I am using the teTeX which comes with SuSE 7. Has anyone a system where this behavior is different?? > JMarc> Why would you want to set it explicitely? Oh, you're right. It would be even nicer, if this would be taken into account by the language setting. Now I tried "french" -- this one works well. Hmm, perhaps I should choose "french" when I write german ;-) regards, Marcus Beyer http://www.Stormlight.de/lyx_de.html

In the documentation of pdfTeX : http://tug.org/applications/pdftex/ you can find much more information concerning pdf options, including hyperref package.
