Aged 4, I was dubbed a genius with a meccano set! Aged 21, I had an Honours
degree in Mechanical Engineering. Aged 85, and still pretty clever, LyX is THE
meccano set for my brain!
However, LyX does far more than I need. So I often think about helping develop
a "bullet-proof"

I have not used windows for several decades. Perhaps others can help. I am
pretty sure
lyx runs on windows.

However, given my need for “black box” comfort/confidence at this stage in
life, I guess a PC with Windows 11 would be equally OK? Right?
PS: When I mentioned LyX-basic, that was to get around my Mac/LyX
I don't think a new PC is needed. Why not pick up a used PC and put a linux OS
on it?
That's what I have done for years. Lyx works fine.
