Re: keyboard bindings colliding?

2001-01-15 Thread Thorsten Mika

hi again,

ok, i found the part in de.po. will i change things by changing
"Anzeigen|A" to "Anzeigen|V"? is this enough to make the german
translation expect a M-v vor this menu?

Hmmm... I can't remember if XForms allows this or not. Usually it expects
the 'V' to match a letter in menu entry. Try it.

it works. i changed the $LYXSRCDIR/po/de.po file in line 686. i replaced
"Anzeigen|A" with "Anzeigen|V". this seems to free M-a again so i can bind it to
paragraph style in my bind-file and i can access the "Anzeigen" menu with M-v
like in the english version.

thx for the hint, allan.

Oh, not just one or two entries. They changed the entire menu structure
and now I have to figure out what I'm going to do: retrain my fingers
 from pressing M-f d for a regeneration of the dvi to M-v d or C-x p
or do something else. So you aren't the only one ;-)

do you know about any reason for this change? have i missed something in the
docs?

If you set landscape paper then foilheads are printed on the landscape

landscape. So you see, if you want all your foilheads to be printed in
landscape mode you should set the landscape paper option.

so i did A4, landscape, and this is fine when i use psstill to rotatem

You should be able to add some appropriate LaTeX or TeX command but don't

just for archive purpose, here is what i had to do to get good pdf for

with pstill : pstill -v -R 270 -i -s -F a4 -o Foils.pdf Foils.ps

-v : verbose
-R 270 : rotate 270, to have correct lanscape on the screen with
acroread.
-i -s : include the fonts in the pdf (i : non standard, s: standard)
(see later)
-F a4: out format. necessary to get propoer margin, cut otherwise.

note about fonts: once i installed psstill, i still had to modify the
linkallfnt script, which looks usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/* , when Mandrake
installs the T1 URW fonts in usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/*, and rerun
linkallfnt, (frank . for info)
then copy the (given) font_gscrpit_sub_table to font_sub_table.
to enable the urw equivalent of T1 standard fonts

cheers

For some reason it wants to regenerate acconfig.h by matching a generated

Although there will be other rules involved this should be enough to get

To fix, run your postscript file through psutils, for example

I saw that there is a acconfig.h both in ~/lyx-1.1.6/ and
 ~/lyx-1.1.6/sigc++. Right ?

Looks okay so far.

Yes, acinclude.m4 and aclocal.m4 are there (in both ~/lyx-1.1.6/and in
 ~/lyx-1.1.6/sigc++):

 -rw-r--r-- 1 peer Perfo 18022 Jan 11 21:48 aclocal.m4

There are actually several configure scripts in the LyX tree. Sigc++ has
it own since it's a mini-distribution of the real library.

By the way, ac... stands for what ?

AutoConf.

 So, still stuck :-(

 Any other idea ?

Keyboard problem - LyX 1.1.6

Thank you very much for producing new version of LyX.

I have just compiled it and try to write something.

There is some strange behaviour in my keyboard. I cannot select text

In pre-2 release everything was fine and I didn't change anything in my

I'm running LyX under SuSE 7.0 KDE2.

Under KDE 1.1.2 everything is also OK.

What can be the problem?

 The non-X

Xpdf is designed to be small and efficient. It does not use the Motif or

Xpdf should work on pretty much any system which runs X11 and has
 Unix-like

 If you

Problems with Alt-D-Key and right-mouse in tables

Hi!

When I press M-d with emacs-bindings (kill word) in tables the cursor
jumps always to the upper left cell.

When I press the right mouse inside a table being in the middle of a

table.

configuring fax custom ascii export commands (lyx-1.1.6)

2001-01-15 Thread Ronald Florence

When the pre-release versions of lyx-1.1.6 were announced, there was a
flurry of postings about how to configure features from earlier
versions of lyx in the new preferences menu of lyx-1.1.6. I foolishly
didn't save the items, am unable to find what I remember through
www.google.com, and despite the new sections in the LyX user guide and
customization help files I'd appreciate if someone would post a
pointer to a guide, or perhaps a brief summary instruction, on how to
configure lyx-1.1.5 (lyxrc) features like

  \fax_program "tkhylafax -file $$FName"

or

  \custom_export_command envelope [using ascii export]

into the preferences of lyx-1.1.6?

Thanks,

paragraph alignment in 1.1.6

2001-01-15 Thread Herbert Voss

maybe that this also happens in 1.1.5 ...
when i define a lyx layout with a strict flushright

...
  Align Right
  AlignPossible Right
...

lyx should also inactivate the radio buttons in
layout-paragraph-alignment

it's right, that nothing happens, when you click on
the left alignment-button, the text is always flush
right, in lyx and in dvi, too. if it's possible and
not too much work, it's a good thing when the alignment
buttons corresponds to the given lyx-layout.

DocBook and lang

2001-01-15 Thread ben

Hello,
I am sorry to bother you again with DocBook, but I have noticed that
choosing a langage in lyx doesn't change the output. Thus, the document
still contains "chapter" and "table of content" even if I choose french.
Note that the behavior was the same in 1.15*.

Of course, I can manually produce what I want by using a customized
stylesheet, such as:

!DOCTYPE style-sheet PUBLIC "-//James Clark//DTD DSSSL Style Sheet//EN"
[
!ENTITY dbstyle PUBLIC "-//SGMLtools//DOCUMENT Docbook Style Sheet for
Print//EN" CDATA DSSSL
]

style-sheet
style-specification id="print" use="docbook"
style-specification-body

(define %default-language% "fr")

/style-specification-body
/style-specification
external-specification id="docbook" document="dbstyle"
/style-sheet

...but it is not very handy.

Bye,

hi again,

there is another problem of which i do not know whether it is xfs-related or a
lyx problem.
since upgrading, lyx sometimes displays the "french" quotes as two "greater"
signs, i.e. instead of the character lyx 1.1.2 used, which was correct.
strange thing: sometimes it works, esp. after changing the display font for
standard text, sometimes it does not. any idea? i am sorry, but i cannot really
reprodzue this "bug".

hi again,

ok, i found the part in de.po. will i change things by changing
"Anzeigen|A" to "Anzeigen|V"? is this enough to make the german
translation expect a M-v vor this menu?

Hmmm... I can't remember if XForms allows this or not. Usually it expects
the 'V' to match a letter in menu entry. Try it.

it works. i changed the $LYXSRCDIR/po/de.po file in line 686. i replaced
"Anzeigen|A" with "Anzeigen|V". this seems to free M-a again so i can bind it to
paragraph style in my bind-file and i can access the "Anzeigen" menu with M-v
like in the english version.

thx for the hint, allan.

Oh, not just one or two entries. They changed the entire menu structure
and now I have to figure out what I'm going to do: retrain my fingers
 from pressing M-f d for a regeneration of the dvi to M-v d or C-x p
or do something else. So you aren't the only one ;-)

do you know about any reason for this change? have i missed something in the

If you set landscape paper then foilheads are printed on the landscape

landscape mode you should set the landscape paper option.

You should be able to add some appropriate LaTeX or TeX command but don't

with pstill : pstill -v -R 270 -i -s -F a4 -o Foils.pdf Foils.ps

Although there will be other rules involved this should be enough to get

This was the entry (~/lyx-1.1.6/sigc++) in before touching it:

I saw that there is a acconfig.h both in ~/lyx-1.1.6/ and
 ~/lyx-1.1.6/sigc++. Right ?

Looks okay so far.

Yes, acinclude.m4 and aclocal.m4 are there (in both ~/lyx-1.1.6/and in

 -rw-r--r-- 1 peer Perfo 18022 Jan 11 21:48 aclocal.m4

There are actually several configure scripts in the LyX tree. Sigc++ has
it own since it's a mini-distribution of the real library.

By the way, ac... stands for what ?

AutoConf.

 So, still stuck :-(

 Any other idea ?

Keyboard problem - LyX 1.1.6

2001-01-15 Thread Sasa Janiska

Hi!

Thank you very much for producing new version of LyX.

I have just compiled it and try to write something.

There is some strange behaviour in my keyboard. I cannot select text
(arrows keys + shift), move cursor left or right (with Ctrl + arrows),
etc.

In pre-2 release everything was fine and I didn't change anything in my
setup.

I'm running LyX under SuSE 7.0 KDE2.

Under KDE 1.1.2 everything is also OK.

What can be the problem?
Sincerely,
Sasa

it's right, that nothing happens, when you click on
the left alignment-button, the text is always flush
right, in lyx and in dvi, too. if it's possible and
not too much work, it's a good thing when the alignment
buttons corresponds to the given lyx-layout.

DocBook and lang

Hello,
I am sorry to bother you again with DocBook, but I have noticed that
choosing a langage in lyx doesn't change the output.

]

style-sheet
style-specification id="print" use="docbook"
style-specification-body

(define %default-language% "fr")

/style-specification-body
/style-specification
external-specification id="docbook" document="dbstyle"
/style-sheet

...but it is not very handy.

it works. i changed the $LYXSRCDIR/po/de.po file in line 686. i replaced

so i did A4, landscape, and this is fine when i use psstill to rotatem

but gv still cut the right part (like it would be a portrait margin).
the text is in there, as u can see in portrait mode, the bottom part is

just for archive purpose, here is what i had to do to get good pdf for
acroread:

with pstill : pstill -v -R 270 -i -s -F a4 -o Foils.pdf Foils.ps

For some reason it wants to regenerate acconfig.h by matching a generated
header rule. You can probably override this by:

touch sigc++/acconfig.h

Although there will be other rules involved this should be enough to get
you compiling. I can't think why the date stamps would get so out of
whack.

This shouldn't be related but do you have:
sigc++/aclocal.m4
sigc++/acinclude.m4

at all?

There are actually several configure scripts in the LyX tree. Sigc++ has

Yep, and kick me because I forgot to check collisions with all the
shortcut definitions in de_menus.bind, as some of them (namely the
parapgraph) don't appear verbose in the menu bar.

So Anzeigen will most probably be changed to shortcut M-i

Good news, LyX now compiles and links correctly. Obviously, we had a
broken egcs. A newer version of egcs solved the problems.

It may be that the name of the symbol is too long for your linker
(ld). Is it GNU ld or the solaris one? You can try to configure with
--with-included-string and see whether it helps.

The egcs package version is 1.1.2. I build lyx on Solaris 8.

The previous one (egcs-2.91.57, package 1.1a) had the linking problems I
mentioned.

It did. Thanks for the suggestion. Configuring
--with-included-string and using gnumake instead of the Solaris make,
lyx-1.1.6 compiles and links with gcc-2.95.2 on sparc-solaris-2.6.

sure, it's not open source, but 99$ for a personal edition is

Keyboard problem - LyX 1.1.6

2001-01-15 Thread Sasa Janiska

Hi!

Thank you very much for producing new version of LyX.

I have just compiled it and try to write something.

There is some strange behaviour in my keyboard. I cannot select text
(arrows keys + shift), move cursor left or right (with Ctrl + arrows),
etc.

In pre-2 release everything was fine and I didn't change anything in my
setup.

I'm running LyX under SuSE 7.0 & KDE2.

Under KDE 1.1.2 everything is also OK.

What can be the problem?
Sincerely,
Sasa

It works here with the head from cvs which is still almost identical to
lyx-1_1_6.

gcc -v
Reading specs from
/devl/rkrause/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/2.95.2/specs
gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)

\make -v
GNU Make version 3.79, by Richard Stallman and Roland McGrath.
Built for sparc-sun-solaris2.6

other packages include
xpm-3.4k.tar.bz2
bxform-089.tgz
...

I dont know what else could be relevant but if there is enough interest
I could provide a binary package and save you some work.

This might be a bug.
Please run LyX with the '-dbg depend' flag, open a file, do view->dvi,
make a change in the file, and do view->dvi again.
Now, send to lyx-devel all the debug messages from LyX.

Either you can use special packages (titlesec) or if you need
only this, you can redefine numbering scheme of your subsection
like this:

\renewcommand{\thesubsection}{Excercise
\thepart.\arabic{subsection}.}

Problems with Alt-D-Key and right-mouse in tables

2001-01-15 Thread Jan Ulrich Hasecke

Hi!

When I press M-d with emacs-bindings (kill word) in tables the cursor
jumps always to the upper left cell.

When I press the right mouse inside a table being in the middle of a
word to get to the table-menu the cursor jumps right outside the
table.

configuring fax & custom ascii export commands (lyx-1.1.6)

2001-01-15 Thread Ronald Florence

When the pre-release versions of lyx-1.1.6 were announced, there was a
flurry of postings about how to configure features from earlier
versions of lyx in the new preferences menu of lyx-1.1.6. I foolishly
didn't save the items, am unable to find what I remember through
www.google.com, and despite the new sections in the LyX user guide and
customization help files I'd appreciate if someone would post a
pointer to a guide, or perhaps a brief summary instruction, on how to
configure lyx-1.1.5 (lyxrc) features like

  \fax_program "tkhylafax -file $$FName"

or

  \custom_export_command envelope [using ascii export]

into the preferences of lyx-1.1.6?

Thanks,

paragraph alignment in 1.1.6

2001-01-15 Thread Herbert Voss

maybe that this also happens in 1.1.5 ...
when i define a lyx layout with a strict flushright

...
  Align Right
  AlignPossible Right
...

lyx should also inactivate the radio buttons in
layout->paragraph->alignment

it's right, that nothing happens, when you click on
the left alignment-button, the text is always flush
right, in lyx and in dvi, too. if it's possible and
not too much work, it's a good thing when the alignment
buttons corresponds to the given lyx-layout.

]>

(define %default-language% "fr")

...but it is not very handy.
