Hm. For some reason, the <BIBINPUTS" variable cannot be set in the *Paths* submenu of the Tools/Preferences. Perhaps that would be a logical place to set it? (And what is the default location of pdf files, rendered by Ctrl+r? They are not automatically placed in the same directory as the "source" document.) Ah - I checked with my other -- SWP. In SWP, the path for the bibliography files is set up in the *editor*, *not* in the document. Thus, these kinds of problems are avoided.
