Re: [maemo-developers] Audio on scratchbox and 770
I accidentally replied to the author, not the list, apologies. On Sunday, 5. February 2006 00:06, Kalle Vahlman wrote: I'm led to believe that scratchbox is OSS enabled. inside scratchbox you are talking to your real /dev/dsp so it's more correct to say that you discovered that your real linux installation is OSS enabled... ;) Badly phrased from me, I guess a better way to say it would be scratchbox can use whatever audio system is present on the host computer. Scratchbox just mounts the /dev, /proc and /tmp (possibly others too?) from the real environment so having audio work on scratchbox is not really an indication of anything I'm afraid. The version of esound that is shipped with Maemo SDK seems to be like on N770 defaulting to /dev/dsptask. So it didn't work for me, since the host is running ALSA with OSS-emulation (see above :-), and (DSP Gateway's?) /dev/dsptaskX directories do not exist there. So I took the esound 0.2.35 sources from http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/esound/0.2/. After installing the esound stuff to the SDK from these, esd starts and works. If I now succesfully compile and test an audio application with this new version of esound under Maemo arm-target, what is the likelihood the app would also work on the N770? Am I doing something fundamentally wrong here? -Teemu -- Kalle Vahlman, [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers
Re: [maemo-developers] GStreamer and 770
Hi Matti, do you already read this? http://maemo.org/maemowiki/EnablingGstreamerSupport But ALSA support didn't work with the internal soundcard, only via a usb headset, which uses the snd-usb-audio module. Because there doesn't exists an ALSA device for the internal dsp, you have only a Dummy ALSA device which IMHO moves your data to /dev/null or something similar useful ;) So doing anything with ALSA/OSS can not work with the internal dsp. To access the internal dsp you have (using the 45 Release - a little bit old) this gstreamer plugins available: snip--- Nokia770-45:~# gst-inspect-0.8 |grep dsp dspaac: dspaacsink: DSP AAC Sink dsppcm: dsppcmsink: DSP PCM Sink dspmpeg4sink: dspmpeg4sink: DSP MPEG4/H.263 Sink dspfbsink: dspfbsink: DSP FB Sink dspamr: dspamrsink: DSP AMR Sink dspmp3: dspmp3sink: DSP MP3 Sink snip--- May be the pcm sink is sufficient for you? Another solution will be to build the esdsink yourself... Re: [maemo-developers] package is built-in?
You'll get this message any time you try and install a .deb from the Debian pool or other non-Maemo repository. Basically it means you'll have to install it manually as mentioned by someone else. For a quick and dirty install, do a dpkg-deb -X [.deb filename] /, although I'm sure there are better ways to do it. [maemo-developers] device lock bypass in charging mode
I just noticed that if I power off my 770 but plug it into the charger before it's completely off, or power it off while already plugged into the charger (basically so you end up with the charging logo on the screen), it never goes into lock mode, so can be powered back up after any length of time without having to enter the security code... IMHO this is not expected behaviour... cheers, Adam -- Adam Laurie Tel: +44 (0) 20 7605 7000 The Bunker Secure Hosting Ltd. [maemo-developers] SQLite installation
Can anyone tell me how SQLite should be installed on the Nokia 770? I first installed it using the package installer in the control panel, but then typing sqlite3 in Xterm (as suggested in the library section in the Wiki) did not work. So I removed it, again using the control panel app, and installed it from the root after signing in as root using SSH, but then I got the following: Nokia770:/# dpkg -i sqlite_3.2.7_arm.deb Selecting previously deselected package sqlite. (Reading database ... 5689 files and directories currently installed.) RE: [maemo-developers] SQLite installation
Hi, it seems that you're trying to install an osso-application-installer package. You can't do that with dpkg from the command line on the 770. Instead, use app-installer-tool, like this: Nokia770:/# app-installer-tool install sqlite_3.2.7_arm.deb Did you check the error messages when trying to install the package with the application installer in control panel (there's a button for this)? If so, what did it report as the error?
