The creation of a local not for profit association to support
LibreOffice and The Document Foundation is up to the local community.
The creation of a different structure in each country, or even in each
continent, is just impossible, because of the complexity and the costs
associated with running such an organization.

In Italy, we have Associazione LibreItalia to support the project at
local level. It is a recognized not for profit, and can get donations,
but has been founded and is managed by Italian members of the project.

Hi all in zone  Marketing, excuse me For no have chance to take part in
this Conference Marketing , also for me Little activity, i keep busy with
work and study. but i read in a few times the email of all.
i think in a few ideas:
-Fundraising
For TDF get more donations in Peru ( also South  America ) we need that the
foundation also have operation here, this is that make a legal inscription
in the country like as foundation.
 1)With this legal inscription we can inspire new volunteers for  rewand
with certificate document , this is very usefull for Profile Professional.
2) Get more donation from Company´s and bussiness because they need a
document for reduce tax in her donation.
3) Also can be a possibility to pay to a youngs , or professionals for part
time job in LibreOffice. much people here work/study at same time, so for
me is a nice idea to benefit of a arranged  team in local área and also
work together with online team.
- Whats can i do for LibreOffice
i know a Interculture School ,that work with children in low economy, so i
think in made a cooperation, to made a book to teach LibreOffice with this
Fundation School, and also require help of TDF for aport a ideas also.

- Next month for LibreOffice
Also i received a invitation for a Free Software conference, so i planning
to do all to participate in this. but i Will give more info in last week of
October.

Dear Italo,

As I mentioned earlier, I will not be able to attend the conference due to some 
personal engagement. I would like to make a note on the following things.

It is important to increase our presence in the social network. However, I feel 
that we need to something more at the ground level. We may need to start 
Special Interest Groups focused on universities and schools. I know already we 
may have such initiatives. But, if you see the reality - I could say from my 
experience in Indian scenario - many students use pirated copies of MS Office 
and many did not hear about our LibreOffice.

I am not a supporter of business model put forward by Steve Jobs. But recently, 
I came across a video regarding his point of view on marketing and it is 
interesting - Please have a look if you are interested -

This video raised some doubts regarding how we should place our product. Just 
explaining many functionalities which may already exist in other Office suites 
may not be our selling points. Our values in terms of Freedom, Ethics and all 
these ideas, and customer orientation is very much required.

"What can I do for libreoffice" would be a great avenue for the people who 
would like to contribute. We may need to design the system such a way that 
anyone can come there and start help us in their own way without messing up our 
system. Designing the system should not be an imitation of other, but we may 
need to sit back and see how are development works and how someone could 
contribute to our ecosystem.


I really believe that we need to focus more on mobile devices and even having a 
crowdfunding model for mobile application development for FREE office suite 
would be an option.

[libreoffice-marketing] Marketing Conference Call November

According to the results of the Doodle, the best date for the Marketing
Conference Call is Monday November 28, in the morning. In order to have
a convenient time for all participants (9 in Europe, 1 in Taiwan), the
chosen time is 10AM UTC (11AM CET, 6PM in Taiwan).

I will repeat the conference call the next day, Tuesday November 29, in
the evening (8PM UTC), to offer several people - both in Europe and the
Americas - a chance to learn about the launch plan for LibreOffice 5.3.

I will communicate the agenda and the connection details in the next few
days.

This looks like a great content base both for general communication on
the 5.2 and for the "big" 5 features to be highlighted on the website.
I'd be interested in the standard for document classification as well
as the major new features so that we can define the top 5 features
ahead of the release.


The standard is from TSCP (Transglobal Secure Collaboration Program), 
and there's more information on the LibreOffice implementation in this

Marketing Conference Call for May is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, at
10AM UTC (noon CEST), based on the different people who have filled in
the Doodle.

To accommodate people in the Americas, I am happy to repeat the call

Hello,

much time has passed since the last marketing conference call, and this 
is not the only reason to start this year with coordinating our 
marketing efforts for 2012. ;-)


Italo and me would like to invite all of you to participate in a phone 
conference to discuss on what we have achieved so far, and on what the 
plans for this year will be. After we have built a good basis, and after 
we achieved many milestones as a strong community, it is time to reach 
out for more, and also to listen to each other, to hear about the 
situation, successes and needs in the various projects around the globe.


Everyone is invited - experienced marketeers as well as interested 
newbies. The call's language will be English, and I expect it to last 
one hour, if needed also longer. To have enough time to plan on an 
agenda and to prepare, we would like to aim for a date in the last two 
weeks of January. I made some proposals on

I must admit I find these things incredibly frustrating, They're always at a 
bloody awful time and voting is a waste of time because it just means it 
always suits the Europeans, I have to do it via IRC because the phone-in is 
limited in the number of countries and nothing in NZ, so it's a waste of time 
me being there.  

The problem then is that those of us who can't make it end up on the outer and 
we immediately have a two tier system within the project, those who can have 
input (Because of time zone, phone setups etc) and those who can only listen 
but are denied any significant input because everything has been done an 
dusted at speech speed and by the time we get to hear it (after having to 
download the sound file over very slow dialup) it's all ancient history and 
over with.

I would like us to stick to using maillists or even IMs  it may be slower but 
at least it's inclusive.

should of called it a North America Group...Canada, USA and Mexico.

I OK with this. If we need to sub-divide even more I could help out with 
the Canadian sub-group. But yes, pooling our resources may be the right 
course for now. How have you organised this?

Central America and the Caribbean are also considered parts of North America. 
Not sure if we have any folks active in those regions yet, though.

a lot of things are going on these days, and lots of questions arise. To 
help in effectively do marketing, I would propose to have a marketing 
conference call that people can join either via phone or via Skype.


I can provide a dial-in for that, and suggest to do it in the 2nd half 
of October.
