I'm fairly new to MP3 encoding and to LAME, and am trying to find the
LAME options that produce the best sounding audio from my ripped CDs.
I notice that the default bitrate for LAME is 128kbps, but that allot
of the MP3s I download are encoded with 192kbps bitrate. They "seem"
to sound better,
I am a musician. I notice crap when I go below 192. I would stay
at 224 or 256. your options are fine. If you have a bunch of
files to do then use a batch process.

player,
which is quite finiky as to what it plays. Opposite of most players, it
has problems
with low bitrate mp3's - doesn't play anything below 64kb/sec, and tends
to crap
out on VBR mp3's that have 32kb/sec sections in
