Nagios servers are 1.1 and 2.0, with 1.3.1 plugins.
I try to perform a simple:
./check_nt -H 10.x.x.x -v CLIENTVERSION
but I receive a :
Socket timeout after 10 seconds

As for the NSCA, I found further information:

Check your host config for mail.myvest.com. Also when you do
check_http -H $HOSTADDRESS$
it's expecting the IP Address of the host that you gave in the host
config.

No. The config options and macros have changed.
HP, Lets take the easier route. nsclient++ (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=131326) added checks for Filesize since this thread started.
