[NTG-context] Subscript question

2009-09-08 Thread Jorge Costa da Silva
Hello,

I´m tring to learn Context... this is probably a Tex question but
anyway: I want to make a subscript such that the smaller number (or
something) is written wright under the bigger number (and not, as
usual, at the left of the number). This seams an obvious task but i
can´t do it.
Thank you very much,
Jorge

Thanks a lot.

 Screen Version = cont-eni.pdf
 Print Version = cont-enp.pdf

I had missed. That's right cont-enp.pdf is the manual for printing.

Hans, we need to think of mechanism to switch between upright and italic

ok. actually, it's not that hard to do, and i'd also provide an 0x1D6FC

\stoptext

There is a bug somewhere (see later). As a workaround, you can use

\setuptyping[style={\definedfont[LMTypewriter10-Regular]}]

Here is a minimal example of what is happening. In simpleslides we use
\definebodyfontenvironment, otherwise the size calculations (tfa, etc) and
the math fonts do not work (at least this is what used to happen in MkII).
For some reason this means that we cannot switch to typewriter font.

Any ideas on what is wrong here?

\def\NormalSize{17pt}
\def\TitleSize {22pt}

%D The bodyfont needs to be defined so \CONTEXT\ can calculate size switches,
%D math formulas, etc.

\starttypescript [serif] [default] [size]
\definebodyfont [14pt,15pt,16pt,17pt,20pt,25pt,\NormalSize,\TitleSize]
[rm] [default]

\stoptypescript

\starttypescript [sans] [default] [size]
\definebodyfont [14pt,15pt,16pt,17pt,20pt,25pt,\NormalSize,\TitleSize]
[ss] [default]

\stoptypescript

\definebodyfontenvironment[\NormalSize]
\definebodyfontenvironment[\TitleSize]

\starttypescript[bookman]

I would prefer long names, say

\uprightalpha, \italicalpha, etc

or

\mathuprightalpha, \mathitalicalpha

Since, the user will usually just type \alpha, the long names should not
be a problem.

are there more such up/it things?

The differential operator has various conventions (upright, italic), but
unicode only provides the double struck version (0x2145, and 0x2146)

[NTG-context] placetable (split but title only ONE time) ?

2009-09-08 Thread Steffen Wolfrum

Hi,

how do I set a long placetable to split, but write the legend/label
only one time?

This does repeat the title at every page:

\setupcaption[table][location=top]

\placetable
 [split]
 {A very long table}
 {\bTABLE
  \dorecurse{200}{\bTR\bTD Text \eTD\eTR}

But it should read A very long table only one time at the top of the

I was thinking in a global way to switch upright math on/off, my use
case is that on day when we have Euler OpenType, users can use the font
and switch math to upright symbols globally without altering existing
math formulas.

Too long, so I just copy the last section:

\section{$\varphi_k$}

Una altra possible generalització de $\varphi$ és, en comptes de

$\lambda_{s, k}$, fer la mitjana de $k$ valors consecutius.

If seriously in doubt, just create a parallel tree and try to use the

I find long lowercase filenames to be hard to read. By error prone, do you
mean chances of a human typo, or potential filesystem errors on Windows
(which does not distinguish between uppercase and lowercase filenames)?

Hans, we need to think of mechanism to switch between upright and

ok. actually, it's not that hard to do, and i'd also provide an 0x1D6FC

you can start thinking about proper names for the commands (\ugreek,
\igreek or so); are there more such up/it things?

I was thinking in a global way to switch upright math on/off, my use
case is that on day when we have Euler OpenType, users can use the font
and switch math to upright symbols globally without altering existing
math formulas.

an upcoming beta will provide such a feature

\usetypescript[cambria]\setupbodyfont[cambria]

\startTEXpage
$\alpha \mathgreekupright \alpha \mathgreekitalic \alpha$
\stopTEXpage

and also:

\setupmathematics[greek=normal|italic|none]

but first aditya and i need to agree on the names and complete the
related greek vector

in general such long names are probably not read (and in mkiv i do a
lookup for lowercase anyway in case of no match)

(also, the above name looks funny as it's no SimpleSlides)

it's no problem to use HorizontalStripes in you ruser interface and
lowercase in filenames

but indeed the fact that we have case-insensitive filesystems are also a
reason

Hans

ps. in project my experience is that quite some problems come from
filename mismatches in sources and resources (mixed case, funny chars,
one of more spaces in a row, etc) esp third party graphics

I found what appears to be a bug. I can't find any documentation on it. If i'm

a paragraph starts with anything but plain text, it will not honor floating
objects and will run over them.

Here is an example:

\starttext

\placefigure[right,here]{none}{\framed[width=0.3\textwidth,height=0.3\textwidth]{Floating

{\bf T}his simple paragraph does not wrap around the floated figure. You can
see it starts with a single boldface command.x xxx xxx x x xx
 x xx

\bf{T}his paragraph will also not honor the float. It has an alternate form of
the boldface command

And yet this paragraph will. It starts with just plain text. xxx xxx x x xx x. xxx xxx x x xx x xxx xxx x x xx x xxx xxx x x xx x.

Does a simple example with mplib work at your end?

You can try to regenerate the metafun format.
