This morning, I birded a cold Sands Point Preserve (Nassau) from about
8:20AM to 11AM.
A small group of 4 Common Goldeneye very close to shore had a single female

At around 8:30 a.m. I viewed a handsome drake Barrow's Goldeneye among a

I re-found the Barrow’s Goldeneye first located by Ricard Aracil off Orchard
Beach yesterday, swimming with some Common Goldeneye. There were also a few

pair of adult Bald Eagles perched side by side, directly above with Common

For those trying to catch the Barrow's in the morning before it flies out keep
in mind that the West Pond is now a tidal lagoon and high tide was around 9
today. Last week I made the mistake of trying when it was low tide and there
were 0 Goldeneyes on the "pond" pre-dawn. The North Channel
Despite foggy conditions, Eric Miller and I just enjoyed looks at the
continuing Drake Barrow's Goldeneye at Jamaica Bay West Pond.
Unfortunately, the Goldeneyes are already on the move. Thanks to Jeff

from "the bluffs" - at the NE end of the trail in the signed "Bird Watching

Finally made the early morning trek to the west pond at Jamaica Bay WR
this morning. When I got there at 6:45 AM there were two women there
already and they had the Barrow's Goldeneye found. Watched it swim

Yesterday, Lynne Hertzog and I (Richard Fried) birded from Belmont Lake to E.
Hampton. We arrived at Belmont Lake at 8:15 am to find most of the ice melted
and most of the geese already gone. There was a Graylag Goose amongst the
180-200 Canadas, but the Barnacle Goose had already left,
