Ron and Ben Barkley and I visited some spots today around the Nassau
The Tufted Duck was still frequenting Saint John's Pond in Cold Spring Harbor
(Nassau/Suffolk co.) as of this morning. No Eurasian Wigeon on the pond today.

This AM & PM until 2 o'clock, I was housebound waiting for a scheduled
delivery, a chore I had to do because my wife was one of the worker bee's at
the annual "High Tea" the women in our condo community so look forward to. The

A few highlights from an all day birding in the Bronx includes the following:
Cackling Goose (CACG) on the Parade Grounds @ Van Cortlandt Park. No sign of
the Barnacle Goose and it could be that this bird has moved on.
The assortment of wintering warblers in our area continue; 2 (PRAIRE
I checked Hard's Lake at Southaven C.P. this morning, where the GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, that I initially reported on 11/28/12, continues to be
seen. While on the topic of this species, I've also been seeing a GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, daily, on West Brook Pond in North Great River. Ken
January 19 - Today a Western Grebe was seen about 10:30 AM and again at
about 4:00 on the Lake Ontario east of Irondiquoit Bay. It was far out and a
scope is needed.
At LaSalle Park in Buffalo --- two Purple Sandpipers on Donnelly's Spit

There were 25 bird watchers on the Saturday morning bird walk. We had a very
productive day and watched some interesting bird behavior. Highlights include:
GREY CATBIRD, Great Horned Owls, Hooded Mergansers and Winter Wren.
Red tailed hawks- 4
