Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) went to Heckscher SP after a brief stop at Jones
Beach (20 + Surf Scoter still in inlet seen from parking lot and a Lesser
Black-backed Gull on West End lot).
Field #7 at Heckscher was filled with large puddles and is surrounded with
grassy lawn, perfect shorebird

Sue and I has a productive few hours shorebirding at HSP this morning,
recording twelve species of shorebirds at the flooded Field 7 parking lot.

yard) of Heckscher State Park from ~1-215 was similar to Luke Ormand's
experience at Carman's River in that it produced little of note.

I had looked with Vinnie Pellegrino on Tuesday afternoon for the crossbill
flock but we came up empty, staying from about 3 PM till dark. This afternoon I

They were part of a mixed shorebird flock on the beach south of the
pavilion of parking field #8. In addition to the AGPLs there were 35
Black-bellied Plovers,

Despite seeing a negative report online, I went down to Timberpoint this
afternoon to check for the Dovekie again (saw the bird Tuesday). As others
have mentioned the marina was iced over save for where aerators were in
operation around the pilings. The channel from the bay into the marina was
