After taking a friend to the airport I decided to take a quick look in the
Jones Beach area for stuff. Not a lot around. Had an adult Lesser
Black-backed Gull, 6 Black Scoters, and 4 Pintails at the coast guard station.

At Pt. Lookout there were many Red-throated Loons. Other than that not
Spent almost exactly 10 hours at Jones Beach West End today, beginning just
before sunrise. The favorable conditions and strong winds resulted in a lot
of movement. The birders who were out on this brisk fall day definitely
reaped the rewards. Two Red-headed Woodpeckers were observed, an adult
Barb Saunders and I (Ardith Bondi) started at Nickerson Beach (Nick)
this morning, where we found 4 pairs of Oystercatchers, one actively
mating and at least 2 pairs of Piping Plovers with one extra alone (at
least when we saw it).
