Hi Cory, It seems like I really do want a Group node with geometry. I guess my choices are to do something like your HandNode (probably using object composition rather than inheritance) or pair every Geode with a Group node. I think the image you sent is a logical arrangement. A Group (or a

Is there a proper time to make changes to an osgText object's text? I seem to be having a problem where if I update some text in an update callback function it causes a segfault when I'm running the viewer in multi-threaded mode, but not in single threaded mode. I'm guessing because the text

I'm looking for advice on typical patterns when modeling something that has attachments (which may in turn have other attachments). I first looked for a node type that was a composition of Geode and Group but of course I didn't find anything. An example might help here. Say I want to model

Hi Morné, The other approach might be to create an empty View that does nothing, has no scene, but at least has a Camera with the GraphicsWindow assigned to it. It's viewport could be zero sized so would be litte more than a non op, and you have have the GraphicsWindow do the clear each frame

I seem to have fixed the problem by setting the data variance on my osgText object to DYNAMIC. I'm wondering if this is the proper way to handle this situation though - because when I look at the StatsHandler for an example it appears to be modifying it's osgText nodes, but it does not set the
