Good morning, Tom.
I filter list messages into a separate folder, not my in-box. I vote against
putting the list name in the subject line. It's done on another list, and I
often find it distracts me from the real subject. It means I have to keep

Hi,
I'd like to have the name in the subject line. That's how I filter out
all the other lists I work on, and that seems to be the only method
that'll work. I can't filter by the address of the list for some reason,
I'm not sure why it won't work, so I'd like to have the list name in the

High Tom,
If you are concerned about people staying on topic, All they have to do is
look at what's in the subject line.
For the most part, you have benn doing a very good job at reminding people

I really want to respond to this. The list name in the subject
line would be tolerable if persons didn't forward and cross post.
For example, on the blind movie buffs list, you see subjects
which begin with my corner, LITS, and subject lines which
obviously originated with other lists.
It is interesting that a couple of list owners have chimed in, on this
subject. Also, what about people's extensive footers, where they advertise

this is one of those things where it depends on one's level of expertise, on

I respectfully disagree. Oranges and apples!
One almost has to read the subject line to read or reply to the
message.
Filtration can also be done using the TO OR CC line in the message rules
appropriately. List name in the subject line is unnecessary and is only an
additional clutter!!

Guys and gals
While I personally don't rquire the list name (or a shortened key) in the
subject line, I believe most of you are missing the mainpoint behind it:
it simplifies filtering for those who are less sophisticated in the use of
filtering in their email programming.

Has anybody here tried to make the speech synth omit the prefix of
subjects in mailing lists, where there are subject prefixes with the
