Skype Question
Hello all list members, I am really thinking about joining the family of Skype users. I don't know how everyone else has their computer configured for this, but I am still using my old Windows XP machine for this. But my question is, if I had a studio microphone and a preamp, could I use the line in jack of my sound card with Skype? Or, do I need to switch the card from the line in jack to the mike in jack? Thinks in advance. John. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Re: Skype Question
If you had a preamp and your stueio mic you could use your line in jack. However if your mic needs phantom power you can't get it from your sound card. Fwd: HumanWare Launches Victor Reader Stream CD Edition
From: Scott Erichsen To: vi...@freelists.org memb...@bcacug.org member-c...@theviponlinesociety.org HumanWare Launches Victor Reader Stream CD Edition Longueuil, Quebec, March 4, 2010 - HumanWare is pleased to announce a new model of its popular Victor Reader Stream portable DAISY, MP3 player and voice recorder. Victor Reader Stream CD Edition combines the worldwide renowned VR Stream and a special CD player accessory. Stream CD Edition is perfect for people who do not have a personal computer. It is the easiest way to transfer a DAISY book on CD onto one single, portable audio playback device without the use of a computer. We have heard from many people who like the portability of the Victor Reader Stream but who do not use computers, says Gerry Chevalier, Victor Reader Product Manager at HumanWare. These are customers who receive DAISY CD books in the mail from their library. They tell us they would like to be able to transfer their CD book to the Stream because the Stream would be an ideal player when they are travelling or on the go. However, they also tell us they do not have or want to use a computer. With the Stream CD Edition we are now pleased to offer them a solution. Key Benefits: Ideal for readers who listen to DAISY CD books and do not use a computer Easy to use. Just attach the CD drive to the Stream, load the CD book, and press a single button to copy it to the Stream A short Getting Started audio book explains the steps and plays automatically when you power on the Stream CD Edition. The Stream CD Edition has the full feature set of the standard Stream so if users want to go beyond just listening to their DAISY CD books they can enjoy other types of books and music and even use the voice recorder. All documentation and tutorials are supplied on the SD card. What's in the package? One VR Stream with all the usual accessories (rechargeable battery charger, ear buds, USB cables, documentation CD and a 2Gb SD card) One VR Stream CD player Accessory especially designed to be used with the Stream The CD player accessory is also available for purchase by existing Stream users who may not have a computer and are relying on others to transfer their CD DAISY books. Only the CD player supplied by HumanWare should be used as other CD drives have been found not to be electrically compatible and can damage the Stream. Re: MP3 help needed
Hi DJ, Thanks for the great suggestion below. It looks like a really nice program and it looks like it will work well with Window-Eyes alright. However, I am wondering if you can at least point me in the right direction in learning the Wave Pad program. I am given the responsibility of producing multiple copies of sermons done in an mp3 format. The reason why I am interested in working with a program like Wave Pad is that there are no track markers on any of the original sermon CDs. I would like to be able to place track markers say every5 minutes for convenient skip points for our members. That's about all I need to be able to do right now. In the future, I want to produce my own radio broadcast ready sermon CDs. But that's another subject for sometime later on this summer. But for now, I could use your help in at least getting me started in the right direction in understanding Wave Pad fundamentals so I can better format these weekly sermons for our members. Even if you refered me to some beginners reading materials that would be great. The key word here is the word - beginning. grin BTW, all of the sermons are between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours in length. Again thanks for any help, Johnny At 07:21 PM 3/2/2010, you wrote: High Johnny, You can use Wave Pad to accomplish that task. Hope this helps. My best regards. Omni BX400 with Pacmate PM20
Hi everyone! I've just acquired one of these machines and for the most part I'm extremely happy with it though I have 1 question and it concerns audio. It appears that the Windows Mobile version of Windows Media player installed on Omni support m3u or pls file types so can anyone suggest an alternative player or a workaround? Thanks in Advance and Cheers! To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Linksys SPA3102 VOIP adapter
Hi! Does anyone know how you dial out on the PSTN line rather than a VOIP line with one of these things? Also, how many VOIP services can be configured on the 3102 and what keypad commands do you use to determine which service provider you wish to dial out on? Thanks! Re: Omni BX400 with Pacmate PM20
There is a program called GS player which I used frequently when I was a pm user. It is extremely accessible. I don't have the URL anymore, but it should be easy to find on google. Thank you! I'll chase that up and see how I get on, that's the problem with this device, it promises so much but when it comes down to it doesn't deliver very much, you can't even connect it to the internet when you buy it by default, how good's that! smile. Yes, if you pan your mics so that one is in the left channel and the other is in the right channel. - Original Message - From: DJ DOCTOR P djdoct...@att.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Friday, March 05, 2010 6:39 AM Subject: Re: Skype Question High Tim, The preamp that I will be using, is a studio mixer that has the phantom power supply built in to it. Re: Bookmarks in Winamp question
I concur; that definitely works, for existing mp3 streams, on web sites, anyway! Thanks for the tip! What I had to do to bookmark a radio/TV station, is play the stream. While it's playing, I would pull up the bookmark menu. Then I would scroll down to where it says, add currant bookmark and press inter on it. And the bookmark is added! Hope this helps. My best regards. I'm using the latest version of Winamp with Vista. I'm having two problems. 1. When I add a bookmark using the shortcut key Alt I, it says the bookmark is added, but no bookmark is ever added. 2. I have placed my winamp.bm file into my winamp folder and no bookmarks show up. On my netbook with XP the BM file was added fine. Vicki My heart is in his hands.
