you have to have I believe an older version of audible manager installed on
your computer. this is what allowed me to be able to even convert using gold
wave. when I say older I mean one from at least 2004 or before.

If you are assured that the mike is working then you really don't need to have
the mike on in the play section of volume control only in record so that those
you're speaking to can hear you.
