I just bought one of these units and would like to make comment on my purchase. Firstly I think that the unit does a brilliant job for what it is in most respects. The sound from the internal speaker is a little muffled however - having already heard a VR Stream - I was already prepared for this, a bit of an annoyance one might say so to overcome this I use a small BUniden hand-held amplified battery speaker I've had for years, cost me $25 about 7 years ago, pity the Stream doesn't have Bluetooth but I guess a product can't have everythint. Now I don't know whether this is my unit in particular but I have noticed that the downloading of data seems to be incredibly slow compared to other devices I have on my network, I used the "Check for Updates" function and - according to that - the firmware is up to date, well at least the data does get downloaded I guess. There's a hell of a lot of functionality packed into the VR Stream box and a lot of this - such as the Internet Radio, podcasts and so forth - I won't bother using - given I already have better solutions for that sort of thing - but for those who don't the VR Stream provides a great entry level to the world of Internet Radio and Podcasting. Getting online with the Vision Australia library was a snap so I downlaoded a couple of books. Again, I have other Apps and so forth which I prefer to use myself but the Stream is convenient for reading, no doubt about that even though I read all my newspapers these days straight from the web site its good to know I have a reliable backup. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- Gera Enviado desde Thunderbird

Any good audiotutorials on Audasity?
HI listers, especially Audacity fans/users Any good/comprehensive Audacity tutorials/audios to see if that's what I'm looking for in a recording program? I record 2 online radio programs, thus what I'm looking for is something like what I'll describe below: 1.-I have the main file to which I'll record my voice on which we'll call File1; 2.-Before I record, I'd like to start playing the Intro song of the program (it's in File2 so I open File2 and begin playing the song), after which I'd return to File1 so when I get to the point where I'd like to begin talking, speak, thus I'm wanting to all this come out on my Voice file which we'll call File1. 2.-Then I'm recording away, and in File3 there's another track which I'd like to lay, so I open File3, play, return to File1 and when I feel it's the right time, I record my voice in File1, coming out in File1 my Voice and the music. In GoldWave this can't be done, thus needing to record the entire program first, then when I get to the spots where I'm wanting to mix in the audio music, via the Mix command, thus I wonder with Audacity this step and be avoided? Also does Audacity have commands to place beginning/ending markers to mark what needs to be deleted, or manipulated like with GoldWave? Also does Audacity have some sort of NVDA AddOn? Thanks for any info you guys might have on this subject. -- Enviado desde mi lap Gerardo J Corripio Flores Psicólogo, Terapéuta Reiki Saludos desde Tampico, Tamaulipas México

Windows7 Switching between recording profiles?
HI listers OK let me give a little background so we can be on the same channel on my question. I've want to be able to switch between two settings within Recording Properties 1.-To record my voice as have it default, I have my Laptop's Internal Mike as the Default Recording device; 2.-However when I record podcasts especially where I demo the use of programs on my Laptop (I have the system sounds and my voice recording at the same time), I go into the System Tray's HP Speaker 100% Icon, Recording Properties, and change the setting to Use Playback as the default Record device (on some laptops it's StereoMix), Under Internal Mike still on Recording, I activate the Listen to this Device, thus this permits me to have the system sounds and my voice recorded at the same time. My question is is there a setup I could use maybe via a Shortcut key, to permit me to change this back and forth without having to do all the keystrokes mentioned above? Yes Iknow of the existance (I used it when I had Windows XP) of Quick mix to switch between these two recording setups, but haven't seen into using it since I don't know how compatible it is with Windows7? What would be the solution for regaining the ability to record from the mic, audio line in, and record the screen reader at the same time if I wished to? I would prefer to use Goldwave for recording as I'm used to it. I've considered that it may take the purchase of either an external sound card or a mixer of some sort. Windows7 and Stereo mix?
HI listers: I'm wanting to better my podcasts, thus in windows7 is there a way to have Stereo Mix appear in my RealTech HD Audio High Definition soundcard? I go into Recording Devices and only see four options: Bluetootth hands free Microphone, Internal Microphone which is what it's as default, Microphone, and Rek/Playback which is unavailable. Any ideas? GoldWave doesn't say correct elasped time
HI guys: What might I have moved in Goldwave? Because when Alt+Shift+e while playing the file, instead of saying how much time has passed, it says weird numbers like 100, 35, 36 etc? Using Jaws14 with Goldwave 5.52 with version of the scripts 58. Thanks for info.
HI listers?I'm Gerardo from Mexico; I use Goldwave to record podcasts and am really looking forward to learning more on Goldwave and other audio topics on the list! My question debut is how to combine in a music file, my voice. The scenario is this: I have a voice track and a music file; I'm wanting to start the music and thirty seconds into the song, have part of the voice speak while lowering the song's volume; then the music regain its normal volume, and a few seconds after, lower the music volume and have another part of the voice play; again regain the music's volume, and several seconds after have the last part of the voice play and regain the music volume. How Igo about doing it is kind of a nightmare! 1.-I have the two files opened in Goldwave; I've already marked in the song, where into the music I want to start speaking; 2.-The part of the voice track to start is 3 seconds thirty; 3.-I then go into the music file, and placed on the marked beginning position, start playing while counting one thousand one one thousand two one thousand three one thousand which usually lands me near when I mark with right bracket the end position where I'll be done speaking, near the three seconds thirty; if it doesn't, I narrow down the zoom and move the right marker until it's about right; 4.-I then via the Effects/Volume (Alt+c and u) go into Dropout and Duck and perform the task in the marked position on the music song. 5.-I then mix the audio track part which usually goes fine, but when it does, I cancel the whole operation and remark again the music file. For the next audio track part, I again listen to the music, and when I feel I want to start again speaking, I mark the part, go into the audio voice file with Shift+tab, see it's duration, go back with Shift+tab to the music file and start counting; mark where I think the end is; imagine doing this over and over! Is there an easier way or is this the only way available? Thanks for any feedback! How to resample? Re: combining music and voice track?
OK. I tried with Voice Over, but a message came up that the file needs to be the same sample rate as the music. Other than resave the voice track with the same sample rate as the song, any other alternative like resampling on the fly, or even better, a function that'd resample the voice track with the same specs as the music? Thanks for info. Gera Enviado desde mi iPhone El 09/06/2013, a las 03:09 p.m., tim cumings thcumi...@comcast.net escribió: Gerardo try using the voice-over effect under the effects menu.
