is F or FA. A lenses will do just about everything except transmit
lens info (which lens, MTF, etc).
For all practical purposes, A, F, or FA gives full compatibility.

shutter speeds. The *istD can be set anywhere between 200 and 3200
ISO. This is the sensitivity of the sensor. The higher the ISO, the
noisier it becomes, much like graininess of film. The shutter speeds
can be set from 30

So, getting serious, I'm not the m42 expert, but I'll have a go at it

ND filters aren't cheap for large lenses. I'm already resigned
to having to buy a 77mm for my 200/2.8 so that I can use it at
full aperture. Fortunately the 300/2.8 takes drop-in filters.
As for why - take a look at a shot taken at f2.8, and compare
it to a shot taken with a smaller aperture.
It's funny that digital photography supporters keep saying that there are no
processing costs in filmless photography. That's only true if you only want
digital files, to email or look at on your monitor. If you want prints, you
still have to pay for them.
