Thanks for sharing this.
I have never seen a camera like this.
It promises to make almost all (non-dedicated) cameras obsolete.
Despite its looks, it does not seem to be an all-in-one gadget which
cannot excel in any of its functions.
On top of these, its price (< USD 2000, apparently) is within
I've never heard of that, and none of the F series lenses I own,
admittedly a relatively small subset works like that.

In any case, the camera refusing to seek focus is an intermittent
occurrence. It might have to do with heavy backlight, or something else.

Nope. F series lenses will autofocus with the aperture ring off the
'A' position.

The Light L16 camera (http://light.co) that I ordered in 2015 is finally in
production. I received my unit yesterday.
I snapped a few exploratory frames playing with the controls. I then set it on
a shelf, a 35mm equivalent FoV selected, and let it make a photo of me. I
rendered the file with

Why would manual aperture setting affect the ability to autofocus?

Hi All,
1. I wonder if anybody has any pointers to the
discussions/blogposts/Youtube videos, showing how to swap the SDM motor
and its board (PCB).
2. Also, I would like to buy replacement "SDM motor contacts".
Those are the two contacts that are shown in this image ("SDM power"):
If you are using windows there is an unofficial driver for Nikon Scan v4 -

I'm running it with my LS8000 on Win10 x64. The Vista driver in that

I've discovered that NiMH AA batteries that were in the old Pentax DS body
(remember those?) were completely dead.
I tried to put them in renown La Crosse charger (BC-900), and that refused
to charge them.
I was able to resuscitate them by putting them into a "fast" Duracell
charger, and
Igor,
Lightroom 6.7 added a preference "Use Smart Previews Instead Of Originals
For Image Editing" for, I think, the reason you describe--it can be faster
than using the original raw files.

Short summary: how having RAW images on an External drive can improve LR
performance.
Frequently, for working with LR, people recommend storing the RAW photos
on the internal drive, which is typically the fastest, especially if it is
an SSD. I've read at least one analysis that has shown

Eric,
you did well on that one.
This is an old "overpayment" scam.
You may want to read this detailed analysis of it, e.g. here:

You guys are all snarter than me.
A while back, I had an older lens on my K-5 IIs that refused to focus. I
struggled with it quite a while before it dawned on me that I had neglected
to place the aperture setting on "A"
