I think the main reason TCs arent recommended with zooms is that if your
shooting
at the short end of the zoom with the TC attached, you would get better
results by
removing the TC and shooting at the long end of the zoom by itself.

Its shorter than a typical 200mm, but not as short as a typical
135mm, and it takes a 77mm filter so the front glass is pretty
