It's convenient, and ubiquitous, unfortunately.  Google supplies free services about the web to everyone else.  You can't get away from them.  I use gmail, but I subvert some of it's intent by using their pop server so I can more or less ignore the parts of gmail I don't want. On 11/4/2019
