Plenty of action as always on this site! Now I have an uneven turntable that obviously will cause dragg let alone strain on the spring. The spindle must be slightly bent. Is this fixable, and I suppose it is? Your commments please? Also would like to hear from folk with variatons on a

I'd swap out the turntable before I condemned the spindle. Shafts can be straightened but I would think it would be easier to install a replacement unless it is a very rare machine with an unusual motor. Ron L -Original Message- From: phono-l-boun...@oldcrank.org

Bent spindle? Is the motor and motor board plumb? How tight is the turntable on the spindle? Bent spindles are pretty rare. Who makes the machine? Is it so uneven the turntable is hitting the case causing the drag you speak of? Oldcranky Mike On Sat, Dec 11, 2010 at 6:32 AM, Ron L'Herault

You might try this, as it has worked for me: Rotate the turntable and find the low point - GENTLY but firmly raise up on the turntable from the low point and see if it straightens out. Just a thought... Date: Sat, 11 Dec 2010 22:13:01 +1300 From: slowp...@clear.net.nz To:

Greg, Can you send me a couple of additional pictures on the Columbia BI and the Edison home. Are there any dents on the BI's horn and is the finish just worn through on the Edison case or is it flaking and does it have the back bracket and top? If you will send me your phone number I will call

That was pretty much the end of the story. I ended up re-restoring the machine and it came out reasonably nice. The reason I shared that whole exchange was it simply had to be read to be believed. I was stunned at the lack of rational thinking, denial of responsibility, and borderline

I would say this re. missing items. It can be very easy to assume a person took something when they've been visiting and an important item is missing. But invariably, I've found that things have a way of reappearing. I once lost a couple of 5 Berliners. (Fortunately, no one had been visiting

How long ago did you buy the machine? I've had reasonably good success with eBay resolution center if the item was paid for with PayPal. They currently hold the money until the buyer posts favorable feedback. Also they have the sellers bank account # so they can take the funds out of it if
