Spotify's one major failure IMO is the lack of a browse mode for your
library like we have for Rhapsody. I tried to implement one but they
made me remove it. :( Even their iOS app has the same limitations and
drives me nuts when I'm trying to find an album to play in the car.

That's a great idea. I was considering writing something that would take
a list of artists and auto-generate a bunch of Spotify playlists for
each artist. Unfortunately you'd still have the problem of a large flat
list of tracks in those.

It depends on the server where the podcast is hosted, and whether or not
we can accurately detect the bitrate and duration of the podcast. So it
may work for some, but not all.

Right now the only issue I know of is with ip3k players, there is a
firmware bug on our side that was only uncovered by the Rhapsody server
change. Their old server never caused this bug before, so we're working
on it with them.

Cool, can I ask why you are emulating SliMP3 instead of SB2? SliMP3
requires a lot more overhead on the server and is more fragile because
it's using UDP. Also it only supports MP3 although I see you have
hacked something in there to support FLAC.

No, SC never restarts itself, even on Linux. And SC must be restarted
after a plugin install. That's why there is a popup message telling
you this when you install or remove a plugin.

I agree with you, but that's the way it is. I still do not understand
why we are restricted but at the same time they don't do anything to
stop people in other countries streaming via their website or apps like
SqueezeScrobbler. :(

Yeah, sorry but anything with non-async HTTP is out. The reason is I
don't want to see a bunch of bug reports like Player UI locks up when
saving plugin settings or Music drops out after a scan. Sync HTTP
is very bad for the server, at any time.

Make sure you have your sort order set to alphabetical if you want to
use the remote like that. The 'All Genres' menu is always sorted. If
you find a menu in the new Shoutcast that is sorted and doesn't work
like that let me know.

In order to listen to WMA streams in Softsqueeze you have to be running
SC on Windows, so it's not really a priority to fix as we can't fix it
for everyone. Sirius works best on hardware players.

I didn't add exclude genres because I'm not entirely
convinced it's needed. You can setup multiple accounts and select
which player scrobbles to which account. I would think this should be
enough to keep the kids' music from being scrobbled on your account. :)

Make sure you don't have any firewalls on your Rhapsody PC that would
prevent the SB from directly connecting to it.
If it still doesn't work, can you add --d_slimproto to your debug flags
and get another log?

You're probably thinking of the older unofficial RealSlim plugin, which
was a bit of a hack.
Not sure why it would hang, is the Rhapsody client logged in on your
PC? Try enabling the debugging options d_upnp, d_plugins, d_parse and
d_directstream.

Equal signs are OK in XML. I recommend getting and using an XML
validator. My favorite XML validator is the xmllint command-line app
that is part of libxml.

OPML files need to be valid UTF-8 XML. Ampersands need to be entered as
amp; for example.
Try running the file through an XML validator such as
http://www.stg.brown.edu/service/xmlvalid/ and fix all errors you find.
