Wahhabi Terrorism to Destroy Islam and Justify a Global Stateby David LivingstoneJuly 19, 2006Serendepity The 'House' of Saud — no more Islamic than Billy GrahamFollowing the dictates of Hegelian dialectic, the Globalists have created two antagonizing forces, the "Liberal-Democratic" West, against Terrorism, or "political Islam", to force us into the acceptance of their final alternative, a New World Order. The West and Islam have had a long era of compatibility, but this history has been denied to foster the myth of a "Clash of Civilizations". In order to inflame the sentiments of the West against Islam, our attention has been focused on the specter of fanatical Wahhabism, and more specifically, its most notorious exponent, Osama bin Laden. However, as outlined in an excellent article by Peter Goodgame, The Globalists and the Islamists, the Globalists have had a hand in shaping and financing all the terrorist
organizations of the twentieth century, including the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt, Hamas of Palestine and the Afghan Mujahideen. But the history of their duplicity dates farther back still, to the 18th Century, when British Freemasons created the Wahhabi sect of Saudi Arabia itself, to further their imperialistic objectives. That a British spy by the name of Hempher was responsible for shaping of the extreme tenets of Wahhabism was mentioned in a Turkish work, Mir'at al-Haramain, by Ayyub Sabri Pasha between 1933-1938. British policy in its colonies often involved the creation of deviant sects, in order to Divide and Conquer, as was the case with the Ahmadiyya sect of Islam in India in the nineteenth century. The details of this conspiracy are outlined in a little known document by the name of The Memoirs of Mr. Hempher published in series (episodes) in the German paper Spiegel, and later in a prominent French paper. A Lebanese doctor translated the document
to the Arabic language and from there on it was translated to English and other languages. The document is a first-hand account by Hempher of his mission for his government, which sent him to the Middle East to discover ways to undermine the Ottoman Empire. Among the vices the British were to promote were racism and nationalism, alcohol, gambling, fornication and tempting Muslim women to uncover themselves. But most important was the strategy to "insert heresies into Muslims' creedal tenets and then criticize Islam for being a religion of terror." To this purpose, Hempher located a particularly corrupt individual by the name of Mohammed Ibn Adbul Wahhab. To understand the brand of fanaticism that Wahhabism inculcated, it is first necessary to recognize that Islam called upon all Muslims, regardless of their race or nationality, to see themselves as brothers in faith. The killing of another Muslim was strictly forbidden. However, as part of their
strategy of Divide and Conquer, the British hoped to pit the Arab Muslims against their Turkish brothers. The only way to do so was to find a loophole in Islamic law whereby the Arabs could declare the Turks as apostates.Abdul Wahhab was the instrument by which the British were able to insinuate this vile idea into the Muslims of the Arabian Peninsula. Basically, Wahhab contrived the idea that, simply by the trivial act of offering prayers to saints, their Turkish brethren had forfeited their faith, and therefore, that it was permitted to kill all who refused to adhere to his reforms, and to enslave their women and children. But that included the entire Muslim world, except for his small misguided band of followers. But the Wahabbi movement was insignificant without the allegiance of the Saudi family, who, despite claims otherwise, were descended from Jewish merchants from Iraq. Orthodox jurists of the time branded the Wahhabis as heretics and condemned
their fanaticism and intolerance. Nevertheless, the Wahhabis then demonstrated their contempt for their pretended faith by indiscriminately slaughtering Muslims and non-Muslims alike. The Wahhabis then set about destroying all the holy tombs and burial grounds. They stole the Prophet's treasure, which included holy books, works of art and innumerable priceless gifts sent to the city during the previous thousand years. The leather and gilt bindings of the Islamic holy books they had destroyed were used to make sandals for the Wahhabi criminals. The Ottoman Sultan brought an end to the first Wahhabi rebellion in 1818, but the sect revived under the leadership of the Saudi Faysal I. The movement was then somewhat restored until once again destroyed at the end of the nineteenth century. After WWI, the former regions of

I'm appending a link and the article re Israel's celebration of the King David Hotel massacre in which future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and the Irgun murdered 92 innocent British, Palestinian and Jewish civilians. A similar celbration was held last years to celebrate the false-flag terrorist bombings against U.S. and British targets in Egypt that became known as the Lavon Affair.

British anger at terror celebration
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/newspaper/0,,173-2277717,00.htmlBy Ned Parker and Stephen Farrell
The commemoration of Israeli bombings that killing 92 people has caused offence

AS ISRAEL wages war against Hezbollah "terrorists" in Lebanon, Britain has protested about the celebration by right-wing Israelis of a Jewish "act of terrorism" against British rule 60 years ago this week.

The rightwingers, including Binyamin Netanyahu, the former Prime Minister, are commemorating the bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, the headquarters of British rule, that killed 92 people and helped to drive the British from Palestine. They have erected a plaque outside the restored building, and are holding a two-day seminar with speeches and a tour of the hotel by one of the Jewish resistance fighters involved in the attack.
Simon McDonald, the British Ambassador in Tel Aviv, and John Jenkins, the Consul-General in Jerusalem, have written to the municipality, stating: "We do not think that it is right for an act of terrorism, which led to the loss of many lives, to be commemorated."
In particular they demanded the removal of the plaque that pays tribute to the Irgun, the Jewish resistance branch headed by Menachem Begin, the future Prime Minister, which carried out the attack on July 22, 1946.
The plaque presents as fact the Irgun's claim that people died because the British ignored warning calls. "For reasons known only to the British, the hotel was not evacuated," it states.
Mr McDonald and Dr Jenkins denied that the British had been warned, adding that even if they had "this does not absolve those who planted the bomb from responsibility for the deaths". On Monday city officials agreed to remove the language deemed offensive from the blue sign hanging on the hotel's gates, though that had not been done shortly before it was unveiled last night.
The controversy over the plaque and the two-day celebration of the bombing, sponsored by Irgun veterans and the right-wing Menachem Begin Heritage Centre, goes to the heart of the debate over the use of political violence in the Middle East. Yesterday Mr Netanyahu argued in a speech celebrating the attack that the Irgun were governed by morals, unlike fighters from groups such as Hamas.
"It's very important to make the distinction between terror groups and freedom fighters, and between terror action and legitimate military action," he said. "Imagine that Hamas or Hezbollah would call the military headquarters in Tel Aviv and say, `We have placed a bomb and we are asking you to evacuate the area'."
But the view of the attack was very different in 1946 when The Times branded the Irgun "terrorists in disguise". Decades later, Irgun veterans are unrepentant. Sarah Agassi, 80, remembers spying in the King David Hotel.
She and a fellow agent posed as a couple. They danced tangos and waltzes, sipped whisky and wine while they cased out the hotel.
On the day her brother and his fellow fighters posed as Arabs delivering milk and brought seven milk churns, each containing 50kg of explosives, into the building. Ms Agassi waited across the street until her brother rushed out. She said that she then made the warning call to the British command in the hotel.
Sitting in the luxurious hotel lobby, she expressed no regret. "We fought for our independence. We thought it was the right way . . . If I had to fight for Israel, I swear even now I would do anything."
TWO VERSIONS
The original wording:
The Hotel housed the Mandate Secretariat as well as the Army Headquarters. On July 1946 (sic) Irgun fighters at the order of the Hebrew Resistance Movement planted explosives in the basement. Warning phone calls had been made urging the hotel's occupants to leave immediately. For reasons known only to the British the hotel was not evacuated and after 25 minutes the bombs exploded, and to the Irgun's regret and dismay 91 persons were killed.
The amended version
. . .Warning phone calls had been made to the hotel, the Palestine Post and the French Consulate, urging the hotel's occupants to leave immediately.
The hotel was not evacuated, and after 25 minutes the bombs exploded. The entire western wing was destroyed,

Evangelical Christians plead for Israel
By Richard Allen Greene
BBC News, Washington

A week into one of the most severe crises the Middle East has seen in years,
Israel is getting an influx of support from an unusual source.

More than 3,400 evangelical Christians have arrived in Washington to lobby
lawmakers as part of the first annual summit of Christians United for Israel.

Delegates have come from all 50 states and have 280 meetings on Capitol Hill on
Wednesday, Pastor John Hagee said.

Pastor Hagee, the main organiser, said the event was the first of its kind.

For the first time in the history of Christianity in America, Christians will
go to the Hill to support Israel as Christians, he said.

The event was planned months ago, and is not a direct response to the ongoing
violence in the region.

But the military conflict certainly makes our meeting more significant,
Pastor Hagee said.

The thousands of Christians in Washington - who came and are staying at their
own expense - will be urging the US government not to restrain Israel in any
way in the pursuit of Hamas and Hezbollah, he said.

We want our Congress to make sure that not one dime of American money goes to
support Hamas and Hezbollah or the enemies of Israel.

Gift from God

John Hagee is the pastor of the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church in San
Antonio, Texas, and a long-time fervent supporter of Israel.

John Hagee says 40 million Americans back his views

In common with many American evangelicals, he believes that God gave the land
to the Jewish people and that Christians have a Biblical duty to support it and
the Jews.

His latest book, Jerusalem Countdown: A Warning to the World, interprets the
Bible to predict that Russian and Arab armies will invade Israel and be
destroyed by God.

This will set up a confrontation over Israel between China and the West, led by
the anti-Christ, who will be the head of the European Union, Pastor Hagee
writes.

That final battle between East and West - at Armageddon, an actual place in
Israel - will precipitate the second coming of Christ, he concludes.

It is not clear how many evangelicals believe literally in those type of
prophecies.

Research by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life last year found that
evangelical Christians were more likely to support Israel than any other
religious group in America besides Jews.

And there are far more evangelicals in America than Jews - estimates suggest
that they represent about a quarter of the US population. (Jews make up about
2%.)

Two in three evangelicals believe that the establishment of the state of Israel
fulfils Biblical prophecy, the survey found.

And what they see in the news only reinforces their faith, according to Timothy
Shah, a scholar at the Pew Forum.

When they see what's going on in the Middle East, a whole range of enemies
arrayed against God's people, they see God's word being played out on their
television sets, he said.

They see Israel triumphing over its enemies as proof that God's promises
remain.

'Huge influence'

Evangelical Christian support for Israel is not a new phenomenon, Mr Shah
said, pointing out that there were Christian Zionists lobbying for a homeland
for the Jews in Ottoman Palestine in the 19th Century.

What has changed is the movement's level of political involvement, said Nancy
Roman, the director of the Council on Foreign Relations' Washington programme.

Part of what is happening is that the evangelical community in the US is
becoming more engaged in the political process, she said.

Whereas the church used to counsel people not to engage in politics, many
churches are now counselling the opposite.

It's important and it will have a huge influence on foreign policy over time,
she added.

Backing irredentists

Michelle Goldberg is deeply concerned about that influence.

She is the author of Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism, which
argues that a significant strain of conservative Christianity is working to
undermine fundamental American rights and freedoms.

She said the movement was just as dangerous in foreign policy.

Christian Zionism is responsible for American support for some of the most
irredentist Israeli positions, she said, such as support for
settlement-building.

She said evangelical Christians had substantial influence on US Middle East
policy - more so than some better-known names such as Aipac, the American
Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Rosa Highwater came in response to a call from God

The influence of Hagee is to make the American public support the government's
completely one-sided, hawkishly pro-Israel stance. These groups have much more
influence than Aipac or the so-called Israel lobby.

Pastor Hagee himself said his group potentially had more clout than Jewish
pro-Israel groups.

When a congressman sees someone from Aipac coming through the door, he knows
he represents six

July 20, 2006

A Handful of Neocons Are Instigating a Wider War

Will Americans join Iraqis, Lebanese, and Palestinians as neocon victims?

by Paul Craig Roberts

What explains the indifference of the Bush administration to the slaughter of
civilians in Iraq, Lebanon, and Gaza?

As of the morning of July 19, Israeli bombardments of Lebanese civilian
residential districts and public infrastructure have murdered 300 Lebanese,
wounded 1,000, and displaced 500,000. The Lebanese prime minister said that
Israel's attack has caused unimaginable losses and that his government will
seek compensation from Israel.

In Gaza, Israel has murdered scores of Palestinian civilians in the past few
days.

In Iraq, the civilian daily death toll has risen above 100.

These dead are not Hezbollah militia. They are not Hamas militia. They are not
al-Qaeda or Sunni insurgents. They are civilians.

Frustrated by Hezbollah, Israel is lashing out at hapless civilians, knowing
that the U.S. will protect Israel from UN Security Council condemnation.

Frustrated by Sunni insurgents, the U.S. has instigated sectarian strife.

Bush has stonewalled the UN, our European allies, and the Lebanese prime
minister, all of whom are calling and pleading for Bush to pressure the
Israelis to stop their cowardly slaughter from the air of Lebanese civilians.

The Guardian reports that Bush gave Israel the green light to attack Lebanon
and has given Olmert another week to pound Lebanon.

U.S. Secretary of State Condi Rice has announced that she will go to the Middle
East to resolve the crisis when it is appropriate. Apparently, the
appropriate time is not when people are dying and a country, which had only
just recovered from the last Israeli invasion, is again being bombed into
rubble.

How many more war crimes must Israel commit before Bush and Condi Rice put
aside their indifference?

On July 19, the Israelis turned their air attack on the Christian area of
Beirut. The Lebanese Christians can thank the American evangelical Rev. John
Hagee, who has thrown his 18,000 member Texas church behind Israeli aggression.

Bush cannot claim public support for his indifference.

As of noon July 19, 800,000 people had participated in CNN's Quick Vote, with
the result that 55 percent oppose Israel's attack on Lebanon. This result is
despite the fact that U.S. television reporting explains the news from the
Israeli perspective.

Similarly, in Israel a survey published by Israeli daily newspaper Yedioth
Ahronoth showed 53 percent of Israelis polled said Israel should hold
negotiations to secure the release of the Israeli soldier captured in Gaza,
while 43 percent backed a military operation.

A poll taken by the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reports that 28 percent of
Israelis believe Israel should immediately stop bombing Lebanon, compared to 7
percent who believe that the bombing should continue until the captured
soldiers are freed, and 14 percent who believe bombing should continue until
Lebanon agrees to disarm Hezbollah – a task that Israel's invasion has made
more impossible than ever.

If these polls are reliable, one can conclude that the U.S. and Israeli
populations are more moral, and more concerned with human life, than are the
leaders of the two countries.

Neither can Bush claim that he is supporting Israel because he is Israel's
friend. If Bush were Israel's friend, he would not have given a green light to
Israel's aggression, which will create more hatred of Israel.

As a number of Israeli writers have pointed out, Israel has shown tooth and
claw to its Arab neighbors for decades to no avail.

Writing in Ha'aretz, Yitzhak Laor notes that Israel's problems are not the
result of insufficient bombing and destruction of Arab populations. Yet, once
again Israeli militants are enlarging the circle of hostilities, including
harming civilians. What Israel's 'strategists' have to offer is the destruction
of yet another country.

Laor says the Americans can do this in Iraq with less consequence for
themselves, because the Americans do not intend to live in this region.
Israelis cannot afford to show only tooth and claw to their neighbors, because
we do live here.

It sometimes seems Bush goes beyond indifference to contentment with the
slaughter of Muslim civilians. Bush has even come across as gleeful as if he is
on a dove hunt in a baited Texas field where joy resides in the killing of
countless birds.

Many Muslims believe that Bush and Israel see them as animals to be slain. On
July 17, neocon John Bolton, Bush's unconfirmed ambassador to the UN, gave
credence to this Muslim belief when he announced that Israelis killed by
terrorists were more important than the Lebanese civilians killed by Israel.
Bolton said that there is no moral equivalence between Lebanese civilians
killed by Israel and Israeli civilians killed by Muslim terrorists: It's

I somehow doubt that the ideology that tries to bring democracy to the

I commented by the way on CTRL on the Revelation issue. I thought I

Lebanon's lack of wealth is matched by the Palestinians -- three out
of every four Palestinians live below the poverty line. Yet the vast

geopolitical inconsistency and shortsightedness has contributed to the

Every piece of scholarship carries risks. But for Harvard Professor Stephen Walt and University of Chicago Professor John Mearsheimer, the potential fallout from their paper "The Israel Lobby," published in the March 23 edition of the London Review of Books, was more dangerous than most. Declaring that the extent of the U.S.-Israel alliance had "no equal in American political history," the professors posed a distinctly uncomfortable question: "Why has the U.S. been willing to set aside its own security and that of many of its allies in order to advance the interests of another state?"

[political-research] Fwd: [panopticage] Was Leo Strauss democracy's best friend?

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride

The Letter Scott Horton Was Leo Strauss democracy's best friend? In a letter written at the time of his emigration, Strauss describes his political principles - Fascist, Authoritarian,
Imperialist"We believe that failing to call a spade a spade is not scientific." — Leo Strauss, Thoughts on Machiavelli (1958) In the last several months, the New York Times has run four pieces defending Leo Strauss from his critics. By comparison, the Times has run no pieces in which Strauss is actually criticized, which suggests an odd editorial posture. Indeed, the Times seems to have mounted a veritable campaign for the defense of the beleaguered Leo Strauss, which seems strange considering that he has been dead for over thirty years. These pieces are remarkably consistent. For one, each turns the very serious criticism of Strauss and his relationship with the American Neoconservative movement into a point of ridicule. The criticism is grossly distorted and key elements are misstated. For another, they present Strauss as a "liberal democrat," not in a domestic political context, but rather as a
defender of the tradition of liberal democracy we associate with Locke, Hume and J.S. Mill. The Liberal Critique of StraussThe key criticisms of Straussian political thought are complex and difficult to summarize. There are a great number of liberal critics, but three seem to take the leading position: Shadia Drury, Stephen Holmes and Anne Norton (though Norton's work may more accurately be called a criticism of Straussians than of Strauss himself, a point which is true to some extent of all three). Of these, Holmes does the most convincing job of contrasting Strauss with the thinking of the liberal tradition, and his critique can be summarized as follows:(1) Strauss rejects the fundamental liberal idea that wide-open, uncensored public disagreement is a creative force, mobilizing decentralized knowledge and bringing it to bear on issues of public importance. Liberalism, above all, insists that the factual premises of the use of force
must be tested in an open adversarial process, but Strauss's entire philosophical posture is a sarcastic rejection of this idea. For Strauss, knowledge belongs to a few - we know ahead of time who can and who cannot contribute something serious to a discussion. This "closed club" view of knowledge and debate with its essentially anti-democratic premise contributed to the atmospherics of the Bush drive to war against Iraq.(2) Strauss believed that the liberal-Enlightenment tradition was naïve, and in particular the notion of Enlightenment thinkers that "revelation" (religious myths and dreams) could be banned from politics (as noted below, this was the crux of Strauss' dissertation done under the great Neo-Kantian Ernst Cassirer). For Strauss, this is impossible; the repressed will return; hence it is crucial for the secular few, the men of science, to bring religion into politics on their own terms. The American Neocons' bizarre alliance with America's Religious
Right follows directly from this analysis.(3) One of the pillars of liberal democracy is the embrace of the Rule of Law, and the notion that no one, even the king or Executive, stands above the law. For Strauss this idea was foolishness. Strauss' critique can be seen in his writings on Plato and Xenophon, but their origin clearly lies with the Nietzschean criticism of Christianity as a slave morality designed to trick and "tie down" the natural geniuses. Strauss applies this criticism to law; law spells weakness; law is a trick of the weak to tie down the strong. Hence, Strauss applauds the decisive leader who acts outside of the law to achieve his goals. Nevertheless, the consequences of Strauss' dismissive attitude towards the Rule of Law can be seen today in the Neocon advocacy of jettisoning traditional norms of the law of armed conflict and in allowing the president to operate outside of clear criminal statutes (like FISA) as an aspect of his war-making
powers.(4) Strauss always said that liberalism was unable to defend itself; that it must be defended, if at all, by non-liberals, willing to go outside the rules. This argument again has a firmly Nietzschean aspect. While Strauss seeks to cast it in terms of writers of classical antiquity, it is hard to read much of his writings without having an image of Carl Schmitt come to mind. Strauss would present himself as a "savior" of liberalism, but in the end, like Schmitt, one must fear that he would "save" liberal democracy by putting it to death.See Stephen Holmes, The Anatomy of Antiliberalism (1993).Put simply, Strauss takes firm target at the core values of liberal democracy, and particularly the American variant. [political-research] Re: The Israel Lobby and Christian Armageddonists

2006-07-20 Thread better_off_said
I don't know what's so unusual about Israel's support group --
nothing new. The Christian Armageddonists' sole motive is to bring
about Armageddon, and that can only be done when Israel is given
back to its chosen people. Doesn't matter that the two groups
don't share the same religious beliefs, the Armageddonists will fix
that when Christ returns. And the Israelites will take support
where they can get it. A sort of shark/lamprey relationship.

 Evangelical Christians plead for Israel
 By Richard Allen Greene
 BBC News, Washington

A week into one of the most severe crises the Middle East has seen
in years, Israel is getting an influx of support from an unusual
source.

More than 3,400 evangelical Christians have arrived in Washington
to lobby lawmakers as part of the first annual summit of Christians
United for Israel.

Delegates have come from all 50 states and have 280 meetings on
Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Pastor John Hagee said.

Pastor Hagee, the main organiser, said the event was the first of
its kind.

For the first time in the history of Christianity in America,
Christians will go to the Hill to support Israel as Christians, he
said.

The event was planned months ago, and is not a direct response to
the ongoing violence in the region.

But the military conflict certainly makes our meeting more
significant, Pastor Hagee said.

The thousands of Christians in Washington - who came and are
staying at their own expense - will be urging the US government not
to restrain Israel in any way in the pursuit of Hamas and
Hezbollah, he said.

We want our Congress to make sure that not one dime of American
money goes to support Hamas and Hezbollah or the enemies of Israel.

 Gift from God

John Hagee is the pastor of the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church
in San Antonio, Texas, and a long-time fervent supporter of Israel.

John Hagee says 40 million Americans back his views

In common with many American evangelicals, he believes that God
gave the land to the Jewish people and that Christians have a
Biblical duty to support it and the Jews.

His latest book, Jerusalem Countdown: A Warning to the World,
interprets the Bible to predict that Russian and Arab armies will
invade Israel and be destroyed by God.

This will set up a confrontation over Israel between China and the
West, led by the anti-Christ, who will be the head of the European
Union, Pastor Hagee writes.

That final battle between East and West - at Armageddon, an actual
place in Israel - will precipitate the second coming of Christ, he
concludes.

It is not clear how many evangelicals believe literally in those
type of prophecies.

Research by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life last year
found that evangelical Christians were more likely to support Israel
than any other religious group in America besides Jews.

And there are far more evangelicals in America than Jews -
estimates suggest that they represent about a quarter of the US
population. (Jews make up about 2%.)

Two in three evangelicals believe that the establishment of the
state of Israel fulfils Biblical prophecy, the survey found.

And what they see in the news only reinforces their faith,
according to Timothy Shah, a scholar at the Pew Forum.

When they see what's going on in the Middle East, a whole range
of enemies arrayed against God's people, they see God's word being
played out on their television sets, he said.

They see Israel triumphing over its enemies as proof that God's
promises remain.

 'Huge influence'

Evangelical Christian support for Israel is not a new
phenomenon, Mr Shah said, pointing out that there were Christian
Zionists lobbying for a homeland for the Jews in Ottoman Palestine
in the 19th Century.

What has changed is the movement's level of political involvement,
said Nancy Roman, the director of the Council on Foreign Relations'
Washington programme.

Part of what is happening is that the evangelical community in
the US is becoming more engaged in the political process, she said.

Whereas the church used to counsel people not to engage in
politics, many churches are now counselling the opposite.

It's important and it will have a huge influence on foreign
policy over time, she added.

 Backing irredentists

Michelle Goldberg is deeply concerned about that influence.

She is the author of Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian
Nationalism, which argues that a significant strain of conservative
Christianity is working to undermine fundamental American rights and
freedoms.

She said the movement was just as dangerous in foreign policy.

Christian Zionism is responsible for American support for some of
the most irredentist Israeli positions, she said, such as support
for settlement-building.

 She said

Oh gosh, there is such a government -- and it's ours. Journalist Robert Dreyfuss set out to do a report for the American Prospect magazine on the various individuals Vice President Cheney had gathered to help him run the most powerful vice-presidency in American history -- functionally, his own shadow National Security Council -- and when he called, asking for those names and their positions
as well as possible interviews with them, here's what ensued: "His press people seem shocked that a reporter would even ask for an interview with the staff. The blanket answer is no -- nobody is available. Amazingly, the vice president's office flatly refuses to even disclose who works there, or what their titles are. ‘We just don't give out that kind of information,' says Jennifer Mayfield, another of Cheney's ‘angels.' She won't say who is on staff, or what they do? No, she insists. ‘It's just not something we talk about.' The notoriously silent OVP [Office of the Vice President] staff rebuffs not just pesky reporters but even innocuous database researchers from companies like Carroll Publishing, which puts out the quarterly Federal Directory. ‘They're tight-lipped about the kind of information they put out,' says Albert Ruffin, senior editor at Carroll, who fumes that Cheney's office doesn't bother returning his calls when he's updating the
limited information he manages to collect."We're talking, of course, about the official to whom no major media outlet assigns a regular reporter, because the Veep's office releases, with great determination, no news to cover. Dick Cheney is, in this way, the poster boy for the Bush administration's most essential "sunshine" policy -- if at all possible, offer nothing to anyone, any time, anywhere, for any reason. Such examples of Bush administration secrecy can be multiplied more or less in the direction of the infinite. Stories of information suppression of all sorts are legion, but sometimes one image is worth a thousand examples of what's being kept from us. In this case, the image comes from Karen J. Greenberg, co-editor of The Torture Papers: The Road to Abu Ghraib, who follows the
endless stream of investigations and reports that have come from inside the U.S. government and the military in response to the plethora of scandals about torture, abuse, mistreatment, kidnapping, secret prisons, and the like. Tom The Color of "Transparency" Is BlackBy Karen J. Greenberg Imagine my disappointment. Two long-awaited Pentagon reports on detainee policy had finally reached public view: the Jacoby Report on Afghanistan and the Formica Report on Iraq, available as a result of Freedom of Information Act suits, like thousands of other pages of government reports on the war on terror. As the co-editor of The Torture Papers: The Road to Abu Ghraib, a collection of the memos, reports, and interview logs related to Bush administration detainee policy, I was naturally eager to see those parts of the story that were unfortunately
still classified at the time of the book's publication in December 2004. Both reports promised to contain new information about detainee policy. In June of 2004, Brigadier General Charles H. Jacoby, Jr. had submitted the results of his investigation into detainee operations and standards of detainee treatment in Afghanistan. In November of that year, Brigadier General Richard P. Formica had delivered his findings on command and control questions and allegations of detainee abuse in Iraq. Lieutenant General Richard Sanchez, Commander of the Multinational Force in Iraq and the military officer connected to the interrogation unit at Abu Ghraib, had commissioned Formica to determine whether or not U.S. forces in Iraq were in compliance with Department of Defense guidelines on detainee treatment. [political-research] On Leo Strauss's Hostility to Science

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride

On Leo Strauss's Hostility to Science[Since Leo Strauss was an emotional cultist, who interpreted his narcissistic noodlings as divine truth, no wonder he was hostile to science, which is the most empirical and libertarian of human disciplines. Scientists are required continuallyto test their assertions against reality in the free and open marketplace of ideas. Straussians and neocons seek to dictate the truth, based on their emotional needs, not seek the truth by rational and objective methods. Since they can't survive in a culture of free speech and free inquiry,Straussians are naturally drawn to authoritarian and totalitarian political systems which they hope to control.]http://www.dkosopedia.com/wiki/Leo_Strauss
Fact-Value Distinction Rejected Strauss rejected or dismissed empirical social science and its findings in large part because he had not been trained to employ them and was therefore unable to make contributions to political science using the scientific method and statistical analysis. Like many scholars trained exclusively in the humanities, he was intellectually trapped in making claims for truth solely on the basis of the close reading of text and intuition. His rejection of the fact-value distinction served as cover for this disability. Strauss explained his rejection in terms of bad consequences. He was convinced that the fact-value distinction produces nihilism. In effect, he recommended rejecting an idea not because it was true or false in the sense of being an accurate statement about the world but because he disliked or feared where it
might lead in the search for truth. Strauss's rejection is an example of the fallacy called "argument from adverse consequences." See page 212 of Carl Sagan's 1995 book The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. New York: Random House. ISBN 039453512X.

[political-research] On the Israel Lobby and Christian Armageddonists

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride

On the Israel Lobby and Christian ArmageddonistsThe Israel lobby isn't simply manipulating Christian Armageddonists (and vice-versa). Major factions within the Israel lobby and the Zionist world, especially religious Zionists in the school of Rabbi Abraham Kook, are themselves Armageddonists, Jewish Armageddonists, to be exact.Christian Armageddonists view Armageddon as an instrument to produce a permanent global Christian dictatorship with its capital in Jerusalem. Jewish Armageddonists view Armageddon as a means to create a permanent global Jewish dictatorship with its capital in Jerusalem. Both parties are of course completely deranged and will no doubt at some point begin warring against one another. Many of the supposed
secular neoconservatives are crypto-Armageddonists. The rhetoric of the PNAC and other neocon organizations is loaded up with themes straight from Armageddonist psychology -- world revolution, world domination, utopianism, global holy war, World War III, World War IV, clash of civilizations, etc. William Kristol, Richard Perle, Michael Ledeen and their comrades are essentially Jewish Armageddonists, who are attempting to ignite a global conflagration as the necessary prelude to ushering in the messianic era -- an era in which they comprise the world-dominating Messiah.Jewish Armageddonists + Christian Armageddonists = Judeo-Christian Armageddonism, the most dangerous political movement in the history of the United States and of the world. These crackpots control the largest arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in existence.
The great majority of Christians and Jews oppose both Christian and Jewish Armageddonists, but for some reason their voices are not being heard in the contemporary American mainstream media. The most influential owners and controllers of the mainstream media, like Rupert Murdoch, appear to be Armageddonists themselves, who are promoting an Armageddonist agenda while censoring all dissenting voices.

[political-research] The Most Dangerous Alliance in the World

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride
http://www.alternet.org/columnists/story/39272/

The Most Dangerous Alliance in the World

By Norman Solomon, AlterNet. Posted July 20, 2006.

The U.S. is helping to destroy Lebanon in its tacit support of Israel.

After getting out of Lebanon, writer June Rugh told Reuters on Tuesday: As an
American, I'm embarrassed and ashamed. My administration is letting it happen
[by giving] tacit permission for Israel to destroy a country.

The news service quoted another American evacuee, Andrew Muha, who had been in
southern Lebanon. He said: It's a travesty. There's a million homeless in
Lebanon and the intense amount of bombing has brought an entire country to its
knees.

Embarrassing. Shameful. A travesty. Those kinds of words begin to describe the
alliance between the United States and Israel. Here are a few more: Government
criminality. High-tech terror. Mass murder from the skies. The kind of
premeditated action that the U.S. representative in Nuremberg at the
International Conference on Military Trials -- Supreme Court Justice Robert L.
Jackson -- was talking about on August 12, 1945, when he declared that no
grievances or policies will justify resort to aggressive war. It is utterly
renounced and condemned as an instrument of policy.

The United States and Israel. Right now, it's the most dangerous alliance in
the world.

Of course, Israeli officials talk about murderous crimes against civilians by
Hezbollah and Hamas. And Hezbollah and Hamas officials talk about murderous
crimes against civilians by Israel. Plenty of real crimes to go around. At the
same time, by any measure, Israelis have done a lot more killing than dying.
(If you doubt that, take a look at the website of the Israeli human rights
group B'Tselem and its documentation of deadly events.)

In American media, the current mumbling about the need for restraint is
little better than window-dressing for bomb-dropping. The prevalent dynamic is
based on a chain of rarely spoken lies, however conscious or unconscious: none
more important than the lie that a religion can make one life worth more than
another; render a human death unimportant; elevate certain war-inflicted
agonies to spiritual significance.

Israel has overwhelming military superiority in both southern Lebanon and
Gaza, the New York Times noted in mid-July. A pattern is deeply entrenched in
U.S. media and politics: the smaller-scale killers condemned, the larger-scale
killers justified with endless rationales.

Stripping away the righteous rhetoric, media manipulation and routine
journalistic contortions, what remains in joint U.S.-Israeli policy is the
unspoken assumption that might makes right. Myths spin around as convenient.
Israel ceremoniously withdraws from Gaza, only to come back with missiles and
troops however and whenever it pleases. The West Bank also continues to be a
place of subjugation and resistance. And, as W.H. Auden observed, Those to
whom evil is done / Do evil in return.

The Israeli leaders who launched this month's state-of-the-killing-art air
assault on Gaza and Lebanon had to know that many civilians would be killed,
many others wounded, many more terrorized. The smug moral posturing that
Israel's military does not target specific civilians is moldy political grist
-- and, in human terms, irrelevant to the totally predictable carnage.

There are terrorists who will blow up innocent people in order to achieve
tactical objectives, President Bush said on July 13. Of course he was
referring to actions by Hezbollah and Hamas. We're supposed to pretend that
Israel does not also blow up innocent people in order to achieve tactical
objectives.

Israel calls itself a Jewish state, and its leadership often claims to
represent the interests of Jewish people. Killers who terrorize often claim to
be acting on blessed behalf of others of the faith. Muslims, Christians, Jews,
Hindus... By now, such demagoguery ought to be transparent.

In the 40th year of Israel's unconscionable occupation of Palestinian
territories, Israeli leaders have their agenda. What's ours?

It should include clearly opposing the most dangerous alliance in the world.

In the United States, evading the might makes right core of the alliance is
easy. The dodge makes dropping bombs on Lebanon and Gaza that much easier for
the Israeli government. As usual, you can hear it in the weasel-worded
statements from even the better politicians on Capitol Hill. You can read it in
New York Times editorials. Instead of saying that aggressive war by Israel is
utterly renounced and condemned as an instrument of policy, the message is
that aggressive war by Israel is accepted and embraced as an instrument of
policy.

Most of all, you can hear it in the silence.

Norman Solomon is the author of the new book, War Made Easy: How Presidents
and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death.

[political-research] How Straussians Demonstrate the Cultism of Straussianism

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride

How Straussians Demonstrate the Cultism of StraussianismWe have several earnest defenders of Leo Strauss here who have never quoted a single paragraph, sentence or phrase of Strauss, have never described his particular ideas, and have never directly answered the many well-informed criticisms that have been made of Strauss! Think about it: they actually care so little about the actual content of Strauss that they can't quote, describe or defend it.So: why emotionally defend Strauss under such circumstances? Apparently because he is associated with Israel, neoconservatives and Jews in some vague way that inspires mindless loyalty and patriotism among people who are unable to engage in critical thinking.I've mastered philosophers with
much greater intellectual force and originality than Strauss. What is most remarkable about Strauss is the utter sterility and vacuum at the heart of his logorrhean noodlings. There's no there there. His writings shed light on nothing but his neurotic inability to come to terms with and adjust to the Enlightenment and the modern world.Interesting passage from an article on Strauss in this week's Forward:quoteA Revisionist [Jabotinskyite] Zionist since his teens, Strauss praised the creation of Israel as "the greatest blessing for Jews everywhere" "I was myself a political Zionist in my youth, and was a member of a Zionist organization. In this capacity, I
occasionally met Jabotinsky, the leader of the Revisionists. He asked me: 'What are you doing?' I said, 'Well, we read the Bible, we study Jewish history, Zionist theory...we keep abreast of developments, and so on.' He replied: 'And rifle practice?' And I had to say, 'No.'"/quoteStrauss is supposedly being mildly self-ironic here.Well, gee whiz: most of the Jabotinskyites and Straussians in the neocon movement, like William Kristol and Douglas Feith, have never fired a rifle either -- they are all well-known for being chickenhawks who wouldn't dream of dirtying their hands by fighting for Israel as citizens and residents of Israel. They are quite adamant that Americans do their dirty work for them.It is no accident that Leo Strauss has acquired the particular disciples he has -- they reflect who he really is.

[political-research] Some Religious Fanatics Joyous Over Middle East Violence

some truly frightening messages posted to a Rapture Ready/End Times message

Silver Linings and a Cross of Gold
Posted on Tuesday, July 18, 2006. It turns out there’s an upside to the current
conflict between Israel and Hezbollah—if you’re waiting for the second coming

days on the Rapture Ready/End Times Chat online bulletin board. By Ken

Praise God! We are chosen to be in these times and also watch and spread the

Its kind of like I want to do cartwheels around the neighborhood.

In another thread, someone brought up the fact that the kidnapping of the first

from that day to August 3rd...it is *EXACTLY 40 days!*

I find that to be a HUGE coincidence.

A question just popped in my head. Do you think children of around say 7 or 8
(but before the age of accountability) that have been indoctrinated up until
that time by their parents religious beliefs will be raptured? . . . For
example, would a 7 year old muslim be raptured? I know G-d will do right but I

Got that dancing feeling on the inside of me.

This is John Nelson Darby’s legacy and that also that of Samuel Untermayer, who
financed the Darbyist Bible, the Schoefield Reference Bible.

Thanks to them, the worship of a foreign state is considered normal to many
people in the United States, particularly to its present leadership.

One would think that the worship of a foreign state would disqualify Bush from
being president but I guess security and loyalty from their leaders to their
own country are not big issues with Americans.

Re: [political-research] On the Israel Lobby and Christian Armageddonists

2006-07-20 Thread bernard pyron

Sean:By "Christian Armageddonists" do you mean dispensationalists? If so, you could have said so. "Christian Armageddonists" as a vague term could refer to anyone who believes in some kind of a literal battle - physical or spiritual or both - as mentioned in Revelation 16: 16.Dispensationalists tend to believe in a literal battle at the end of the world or end of the age as described in Revelation 16: 13-16 and Revelation 19: 11-21 that is to occur at a place called Armageddon. Re: [political-research] On the Israel Lobby and Christian Armageddonists

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride

By "Christian Armageddonists" I am referring to true believers associated with Tim LaHaye, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, John Hagee, Mike Evans, Hal Lindsey and similar figures, who organize their mental and emotional life around the role of Israel in triggering Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ. In my lexicon the term is pretty much synonymous with "Christian Zionists." I prefer it to "dispensationalists," which is a rather technical and arcane term that many people do not understand. "Armageddon" is a word that most people grasp instantly and which gets to the essence of the mindset.I find the distinctions you draw among these various groups to be very interesting, however, and I keep trying to understand more about these various movements. Please contribute your knowledge on these matters as you feel moved. My own bias on this subject: I think strong intuitions and imaginings of world destruction, world revolution, world salavation, world perfection and the like are built into our human DNA, are projections of our deepest human fears and hopes about life and the universe. I don't scoff at these feelings -- they are part of my emotional makeup too. I feel their resonance and power. But I do worry about destructive political movements which exploit these feelings, sometimes in infantile or sleazy ways.bernard pyron [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Sean:By "Christian Armageddonists" do you mean dispensationalists? [political-research] Amnesty International on China Censorship

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride
http://blog.outer-court.com/archive/2006-07-20-n20.html

Excerpt:

Amnesty International released a PDF titled “Undermining Freedom of Expression
in China: The role of Yahoo!, Microsoft and Google.” The paper accompanies the
launch of the Irrepressible.info campaign. Following are excerpts from the
paper, with permission (footnotes have been removed and can be found in the
original document; partly, my emphasis).

Although there are other Internet companies worthy of investigation for
involvement and assistance in the Chinese government’s Internet censorship, as
well as the suppression of dissent, the focus of this report is limited to
Yahoo!, Microsoft and Google.

All three companies have, in one way or another, facilitated or colluded in the
practice of censorship in China. Yahoo! has provided the Chinese authorities
with private and confidential information about its users. This included
personal data that has been used to convict at least two journalists,
considered by Amnesty International to be prisoners of conscience. Microsoft
has admitted to shutting down a blog on the basis of a government request.
Google has launched a censored version of its international search engine in
China. All three companies have demonstrated a disregard for their own
internally driven and proclaimed policies. They have made promises to
themselves, their employees, their customers and their investors which they
failed to uphold in the face of business opportunities and pressure from the
Chinese government. This raises doubts about which statements made by these
organisations can be trusted and which ones are public relations gestures.

[political-research] Israel's War is Not America's War

2006-07-20 Thread Sean McBride
[Comment: Current trends in Israel's relations with the rest of the world could
quite easily lead to the biggest explosion of anti-Semitism in world history,
and especially in the United States. Consider some of the obvious scenarios
latent in the current mess.]

No, Kenny boy, we are not all Israelis. Some of us still think of ourselves
as Americans, first, last and always

And, no, Mr. Kristol, this is not our war. It's your war.

/quote

No, this is not 'our war'
Patrick Buchanan

Posted: July 20, 2006
8:36 p.m. Eastern

My country has been torn to shreds, said Fouad Siniora, the prime minister of
Lebanon, as the death toll among his people passed 300 civilian dead, 1,000
wounded, with half a million homeless.

Israel must pay for the barbaric destruction, said Siniora.

To the contrary, says columnist Lawrence Kudlow, Israel is doing the Lord's
work.

On American TV, former Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu says the
ruination of Lebanon is Hezbollah's doing. But is it Hezbollah that is using
U.S.-built F-16s, with precision-guided bombs and 155-mm artillery pieces to
wreak death and devastation on Lebanon?

No, Israel is doing this, with the blessing and without a peep of protest from
President Bush. And we wonder why they hate us.

Today, we are all Israelis! brayed Ken Mehlman of the Republican National
Committee to a gathering of Christians United for Israel.

One wonders if these Christians care about what is happening to our Christian
brethren in Lebanon and Gaza, who have had all power cut off by Israeli
airstrikes, an outlawed form of collective punishment, that has left them with
no sanitation, rotting food, impure water and days without light or electricity
in the horrible heat of July.

When summer power outrages occur in America, it means a rising rate of death
among our sick and elderly, and women and infants. One can only imagine what a
hell it must be today in Gaza City and Beirut.

But all this carnage and destruction has only piqued the blood lust of the
hairy-chested warriors at the Weekly Standard. In a signed editorial, It's Our
War, William Kristol calls for America to play her rightful role in this war
by countering this act of aggression by Iran with a military strike against
Iranian nuclear facilities. Why wait?

Why wait? Well, one reason is that the United States has not been attacked. A
second is a small thing called the Constitution. Where does George W. Bush get
the authority to launch a war on Iran? When did Congress declare war or
authorize a war on Iran?

Answer: It never did. But these neoconservatives care no more about the
Constitution than they cared about the truth when they lied into war in Iraq.

Why wait? How about thinking of the fate of those 25,000 Americans in Lebanon
if we launch an unprovoked war on Iran. How many would wind up dead or hostages
of Hezbollah if Iran gave the order to retaliate for the slaughter of their
citizens by U.S. bombs? What would happen to the 130,000 U.S. troops in Iraq,
if Shiites and Iranian volunteers joined forces to exact revenge on our
soldiers?

What about America? Richard Armitage, who did four tours in Nam and knows a bit
about war, says that, in its ability to attack Western targets, al-Qaida is the
B Team, Hezbollah the A Team. If Bush bombs Iran, what prevents Hezbollah from
launching retaliatory attacks inside the United States?

None of this is written in defense of Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran.

But none of them has attacked our country, nor has Syria, whom Bush I made an
ally in the Gulf War and to whom the most decorated soldier in Israeli history,
Ehud Barak, offered 99 percent of the Golan Heights. If Nixon, Bush I and
Clinton could deal with Hafez al-Assad, a tougher customer than son Bashar,
what is the matter with George W. Bush?

The last superpower is impotent in this war because we have allowed Israel to
dictate to whom we may and may not talk. Thus, Bush winds up cussing in
frustration in St. Petersburg that somebody should tell the Syrians to stop it.
Why not pick up the phone, Mr. President?

What is Kristol's moral and legal ground for a war on Iran? It is the Iranian
act of aggression against Israel and that Iran is on the road to nuclear
weapons – and we can't have that.

But there is no evidence Iran has any tighter control over Hezbollah than we
have over Israel, whose response to the capture of two soldiers had all the
spontaneity of the Schlieffen Plan. And, again, Hezbollah attacked Israel, not
us. And there is no solid proof Iran is in violation of the nuclear
Non-Proliferation Treaty, which it has signed, but Israel refuses to sign.

If Iran's nuclear program justifies war, why cannot the neocons make that case
in the constitutional way, instead of prodding Bush to launch a Pearl Harbor
attack? Do they fear they have no credibility left after pushing Bush into this

Some people are expressing worries that things could get very difficult. The worse-case scenarios are on people's minds, but so far there is no sign of social disorder among Lebanese citizens. AUB's foreign faculty and staff are slowly being evacuated. The Americans were told they would be leaving today, but the plan was called off this morning. Now, it looks as if it will tomorrow. Apparently the scene at the port has gotten ugly at times, and there have been complaints
about how things are being handled. A few of us will remain, for now at least. There are so many warships and cruiseliners in the sea in front of Beirut that it looks like a cross between the Battle of Midway and Aruba. AUB is moving medical staff and other essential personnel on to campus apartments as foreigners depart. The hospital is in desparate need of blood. The refugee problem is overwhelming. AUB is trying to do its part with the folks who have moved in from the southern suburbs. We understand that the Israelis have decided to stop hitting Lebanese infrastructure, perhaps because there no longer is any infrastructure. We know people are talking about the end game, but it is very difficult to imagine how this can end any time soon. Short of a massive ground invasion, Hezbollah cannot be destroyed; and Isreal has backed itself into a corner; if they stop, Hezbollah can claim victory. Hence the madness goes on. Eventually, people will have to talk to
each other, but apparently only after a great deal more bleeding. Our Lebanese friends and colleagues are sad and angry. The future is becoming hard to imagine. The Fall Semester? I know people everywhere are doing what they can to help. Don't forget us. Patrick McGreevy' Click here to view the original Webpage. Sent using R|mail. [political-research] Lebanon left for dead By Pepe Escobar

2006-07-20 Thread elvis oner

THE ROVING EYE Lebanon left for dead By Pepe Escobar Lebanon is mired in a terrifying labyrinth of death and destruction. Beirut's airport is bombed. Israel has imposed a sea blockade. Other than privileged Westerners who are being evacuated by air or sea, people have overnight become refugees. They are plunged into an exodus of hundreds of thousands crammed on rickety rural trucks, overcrowded buses, Red Crescent convoys and even Mercedes with Saudi license plates on a mad dash through Lebanese back roads to Syria. Israel's lethal bombing is ubiquitous -
raining hell over family homes in the Bekaa Valley, over the Liban Lait milk factory on the road to Baalbek, over a Greek Orthodox church, over civilian trucks carrying rice and sugar near the Christian village of Zaleh, over a civil-defense building in Tyre, over a paper mill, over a packaging firm, over a pharmaceutical plant, over the Lake Qaraoun dam, over bridges, water reservoirs, electric plants, gas stations, ambulances, even over Beirut's main Christian neighborhood. Among the 300-plus killed so far in Lebanon, Israel has killed Canadians and Brazilians of Lebanese ancestry. None of these "targets" are military; this means the Lebanese could prosecute Israel for war crimes. Roberto Laurenti, the United Nations' man in Beirut, had to scream that the situation is "both alarming and catastrophic. There are about
500,000 people displaced already. The situation is extreme." So where is the much-vaunted "international community"? It is not listening. The figures don't lie. At the end of the eighth day of fighting, a total of 29 people had been reported killed on the Israeli side of the border, including 14 soldiers and 15 civilians. But the majority of Lebanese deaths have been civilian - and only a very few, less than a handful, according to any number of Lebanese-based news media, were Hezbollah military. Civilian Lebanese are thus being killed, in proportion to Israelis, at a rate of more than 10:1. This implies that Israel is not targeting Hezbollah, but above all Lebanon's infrastructure. Israel's war has nothing to do with Hezbollah's ideology, as the Israeli public relations machine spins non-stop; it's already configured as
collective punishment unleashed over the Lebanese civilian population. Israel officially ordered the entire population of southern Lebanon in essence to become IDPs (internally displaced persons). Southern Lebanon's population, overwhelmingly poor Arab Shi'ites, overwhelmingly supports Hezbollah. Hezbollah for its part may have fired about 1,000 Katyusha rockets toward Israel. Hezbollah may possess 12,000 rockets in total. At the current rate, it could keep firing rockets non-stop for more than two months - while Israel bombs Lebanon back to the Stone Age. The decision anyway has been made. According to diplomatic leaks in Washington, London and Brussels, the Israeli offensive will last at least for another week to 10 days. You deserve to die Although there is no direct evidence pointing to Iran and/or Syria behind
Hezbollah's strategy, US President George W Bush has blamed Syria ("What they need to do is to get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit" - as overheard during the Group of Eight summit in St Petersburg on the weekend). Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for his part has blamed Hezbollah as being in cahoots with Iran. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said there were no "conducive circumstances" for a ceasefire; she will land her Ferragamo-clad feet on Middle Eastern soil only when it's "appropriate", "necessary" and "helpful to the situation" (perhaps "appropriate" would mean the "international community" waiting until Lebanon is totally destroyed and hundreds or thousands more Lebanese are dead). At any rate, Lebanon is fast joining Bush's "democratic" Iraq. The latest UN report states that more than 3,000 Iraqi civilians were killed in June, and no fewer than 14,338 civilians
were killed in the first six months of 2006. The US ambassador to the UN, notorious neo-con John Bolton, believes "it would be a mistake to ascribe moral equivalence to civilians who die as the direct result of malicious terrorist acts". Israel's bombing for its part is "self-defense" that has had "the tragic and unfortunate consequence of civilian deaths". Translation: dead Lebanese civilians are collateral damage, expendable and not worth the life of a single Israeli. After all, the Israeli foreign minister had the gall to proclaim that "many civilians in southern Lebanon have Katyusha and other rockets under their beds". White House has rolled up Fitzgerald investigation Karl Rove email attack on Wayne Madsen Report More evidence Israel is using chemical weapons in Lebanonhttp://www.waynemadsenreport.com/THE NEWS "Jaded Tasks" available directly from the publisher. July 20, 2006 -- Patrick J. Fitzgerald. WMR has echoed the opinions of many legal experts in stating that the investigation of Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald in the CIA Leakgate scandal has been rolled up by the White House, specifically under pressure from Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff, Uber-Counsel and extreme right-winger David Addington. As evidence of the importance to which Fitzgerald attaches to his CIA Leakgate brief, consider where he was last Friday, while the Wilsons were announcing their law suit against Cheney, Karl Rove, and Scooter Libby at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
Fitzgerald was in Chicago announcing the indictment of two men, Ross Marks and Charles Farinella. The indictment was not for any major white collar crime or political bribery case. Fitzgerald indicted the two men for illegally re-labeling 1.6 million bottles of Henri's salad dressing with 2004 "sell by" dates instead of the original 2003 dates.Patrick Fitzgerald's latest legal conquest: Ensuring no salad oil is anointed after its
shelf life. While John Ashcroft's scalp is safe, the damage done to the CIA from the White House leak goes unpunished. While the Wilsons were announcing a law suit on a very serious case of the Bush White House purposely putting Valerie Plame Wilson and her covert CIA colleagues in extreme jeopardy, Fitzgerald was on top of the expired salad dressing caper. The Attorney General who appointed Fitzgerald to be U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, John Ashcroft, made a ritual in his office in the Justice Department of anointing himself with salad oil. Perhaps Fitzgerald wanted to ensure that in the future, Ashcroft uses an oil that has not passed its expiration date. There
must be a biblical passage that states, "Thou shalt not anoint thyself with oil that has passed its shelf life."Click to join catapultthepropaganda http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catapultthepropaganda/joinClick to join
openmindopencodenews http://groups.yahoo.com/group/openmindopencodenews/join July 20, 2006 -- WMR reported that the Israeli military was using poison gas on villages in south Lebanon. According to a former U.S. weapons expert who served in Iraq, the artillery shell in a photo taken in Lebanon (below) is a chemical weapon delivery device. It is being handled by an Israeli Defense Force soldier and Hebrew lettering can be clearly seen on the armored vehicle. Another chemical weapons shell of the same type can
be seen lying on the ground to the right. It is not known what type of chemical is in the chemical canister, however, gas dropped by the Israelis in villages in southern Lebanon has resulted in severe vomiting among the civilian population.Media commentators have scoffed that Israel, with its relatively unique history, would ever use chemical weapons or poison gas in any war. It is precisely because of that perception that they are using such weapons. The deniability factor prevents the media from taking seriously the credible reports of banned weapons being used by the Israelis. Israel using chemical delivery weapons in Lebanon. Fuse and chemical canister can be clearly seen in photo of Israel Defense Force personnel in Lebanon. Drawing of chemical weapon is from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. July 20, 2006 --
WMR has been under an InfoWar/Psyops attack the last week. Someone has hijacked the email address [EMAIL PROTECTED] and has been sending out email containing some personal information about this editor as well as outright falsehoods. This has all the hallmarks of a Karl Rove dirty trick. As I have mentioned in the recent past, Mr. Rove's private life has only received scant attention thus far from WMR. If the email spoofing and other attacks continue, that situation will change rapidly.

[political-research] Israelis Commemorate Terror Bombing of King David Hotel

2006-07-20 Thread elvis oner

Israelis Commemorate Terror Bombing of King David Hotel 2 comment(s). British anger at terror celebration By Ned Parker and Stephen Farrell The commemoration of Israeli bombings that killing 92 people has caused offence AS ISRAEL wages war against Hezbollah “terrorists” in Lebanon, Britain has protested about the celebration by right-wing Israelis of a Jewish “act of terrorism” against British rule 60 years ago this week. Simon McDonald, the British Ambassador in Tel Aviv, and John Jenkins, the Consul-General in Jerusalem, have written to the municipality, stating: “We do not think that it is right for an act
of terrorism, which led to the loss of many lives, to be commemorated.” In particular they demanded the removal of the plaque that pays tribute to the Irgun, the Jewish resistance branch headed by Menachem Begin, the future Prime Minister, which carried out the attack on July 22, 1946. The plaque presents as fact the Irgun's claim that people died because the British ignored warning calls. “For reasons known only to the British, the hotel was not evacuated,” it states.Click to join catapultthepropaganda
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catapultthepropaganda/joinClick to join openmindopencodenews http://groups.yahoo.com/group/openmindopencodenews/join Mr McDonald and Dr Jenkins denied that the British had been warned, adding that even if they had “this does not absolve those who planted the bomb from responsibility for the deaths”. “It's very important to make the distinction between terror groups and freedom fighters, and between terror action and legitimate military action,” he said. “Imagine that Hamas or Hezbollah would call the military headquarters in Tel Aviv and say, ‘We have placed a bomb and we are asking you to evacuate the area’.”But the view of the attack was very different in 1946 when The Times branded the Irgun “terrorists in disguise”. Decades later, Irgun veterans are unrepentant. Sarah Agassi, 80, remembers spying in the King David Hotel. She and a fellow agent posed as a couple. They danced tangos and waltzes, sipped
whisky and wine while they cased out the hotel. On the day her brother and his fellow fighters posed as Arabs delivering milk and brought seven milk churns, each containing 50kg of explosives, into the building. Ms Agassi waited across the street until her brother rushed out. She said that she then made the warning call to the British command in the hotel.Sitting in the luxurious hotel lobby, she expressed no regret. “We fought for our independence. We thought it was the right way . . . If I had to fight for Israel, I swear even now I would do anything.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/newspaper/0,,173-2277717,00.html By : Incensed AmbadassedadorJulyFriday21st2006
