At TVA SQN we presently use either Ludlum 2200 with an alpha probe or an
Eberline SAC-4 for counting smears. We plan to move to the Ludlum 3030P
soon.
Our limit is 50K dpm (beta/gamma) without supervisor approval. Usually
we go ahead and count the smear on one of the above mentioned

Each job, each day? Online, each job is required to have an estimate on
a daily basis. This is tracked and deltas greater than 5 mrem are
discussed in daily Plan of Day meetings.
Outage, every millirem goes through Site ALARA
We have encountered an unusual situation for us here at Sequoyah. We are
having some ice condenser issues inside containment requiring frequent
containment entries where we typically entered containment once or twice
a month while online. We are experiencing increased temperatures and
humidity

Most of not all of us are all familiar with this requirement.

TVA uses the Ludlum Model 12-4 meters. We plan to use the REM-500's for the ANI
Neutron Characterization Studies we are performing soon.
I would like to try out the Thermo RadEye version doing our studies to see if
it would be a viable alternative, however we haven't planned for that so far.
At TVA we used OSL
We use semi-annually, as we just felt that going to 12 months was too long of
period to go without reading. We were processing quarterly before changing to
OSL. We have discussed going to annual wear periods, but are not comfortable
with doing so yet.
