Andre: There was a Type Switch engine truck casting kit back in the good ol' days. I built a set for my SW-1. I can't remember the name, now, but the late Walt Danylak was behind the effort. Maybe some of the list members have more info. Want to buy a sweet running SW-1? boB Nicholson

I am unclear what it is Andre is really asking about: just the bearings for the journals (which would hardly be castings, the journals might me, or even the sideframes) or perhaps replacements for the incorrect sideframes themselves, AM having used their AAR type B road truck for the S-12

Hi boB! When it comes to what I intend to use it for (modifying the AM Baldwin truck sideframes to replace the roller bearing cast detail with friction journal detail)... replacement switcher side frames won't work UNLESS it is slightly longer in wheelbase to fit the AM Baldwin. Copish?

Hi Jace: You have a reason for being unclear: I didn't express myself very clearly. Actually, I was hoping for a casting of the journal box w/cover to replace the roller bearing detail on the American Models Baldwin switcher sideframes. This would merely be a cosmetic modification and not

Andre, I cant remember when, but it seems I saw some photos, maybe in the files, about doing a fix to make the S-12 trucks more prototypical. Hope someone else can direct you to the photos or article.George Courtney ---In s-scale@yahoogroups.com, user141771@... wrote:Its an EMD

There is a article in the files by NSRC119 entitled AM Baldwin S-12 from March 29th. It shows what he did to make the S-12 trucks more prototypical. Hope that helps.George Courtney __._,_.___ Your email settings:

Hi George! Thanks for taking the time to reference that article. It is also posted at the NASG website under Scale. And, yes, that's the article that got me thinking about what to do with the truck sideframes on my AM Baldwins. If I take Matt's approach, I would also like to replace the

As Bob noted already, LWS offered white-metal sideframes, but perhaps what he is also talking about is the lost-wax AAR type Athat I think were produced for GW, and which often ended up with Cascade/Beveridge drives--both of which are on the first Miller Alco unit I found after getting into S
