Hi Paula, From a purely dietary standpoint, your friend might try ommiting all grain from the diet. Raw meat (not pork) including bones (or calcium supplement) mixed with approximately 25% veggies (either pulped in a juicer with juice added back; or lightly steamed) would be a better diet.
