I have a Syflec ICE based cached sim, all works so far.
When exporting the sequence to the farm, it will not render properly.
In that I mean the rendered sequence shows the last frame on all
rendered frames.
Locally it all renders just fine to
begins?
I believe I have seen issues with actions/caches not working as
expected when done otherwise.

Just a friendly warning, this only works without issues on non-UEFI
machines.
Due to the UEFI 'Secure Boot' Wubi will not run, and could in some cases
destroy data on disk.
So if you recently bought a new (W8) pc, chances are it boots with UEFI.
So YMMV on these pc's with Ubuntu

afaik windowing in metro mode isn't part of W8 or W8.1, as to boot to
desktop and have a wallpaper on the startscreen are.
The Metro app in a window on the desktop is something done by a
company called Stardock, and is called ModernMix.
