I suggest a vw rabbit diesel, which puts out 52 hp at about 3600 rpm, but at
1500rpm, might be about right. I am not absolutely sure about hp
requirements for gennies, but I have a 4,000 watt gas gen. that has an 8hp
engine. so, 750watts x 8 hp x.65 = 4200 watts. Don't forget that you need
enough
I have undestand that glycerine can be refined only by molecular
distillation.
I have an idea useful for small producers (very cheap and simple)
that includes boiling the glycerine up to 360 oC. Shurely, if there
happend something like oxidation or pyrolisis, my idea is not usable.
But, in oth
yes so do i , doctors cost much more!

So give all the doctors guns then, LOL. And then the doctors'll be free too.
Sorry, Harmon:

Hi All
I have just aquired a 11KVA alternator. I now need an engine to turn the
alternator. I would like to use a petrol engine. BUT there are several
problems(so I can change it over to ethenol when every thing is working :) ).
The engine must run at 1500 rpm. From what I have gathered there
- You did not mention how you intend to connect the motor to the
generator but you might consider a vbelt and pulley setup where you
could change the pulleys to get into the power range of whatever
enging you decide upon and still maintain the 1500 rpm needed. Just a
thought. gaw-

The problem is the higher the rpm the more noisy and the faster they wear out.
Also a V belt or transmission has losses associated with it (in the 10%
reqion )

Hi Justin
You will find that in 99% of cases, fixed generating powerplants
above a certain size are almost exclusively diesel powered. That
size I'm guessing now, probably around 15KVA. Diesel motors make
good usable power at 1500rpm. I suggest that you are barking up the
wrong tree so to spe

Lot of ponies for a belt. Chain is noisy and you have to know the care and
feeding.
Gears probably the best bet. Select so engine is at torque peak when
alternator is at 1500 RPM.
Will help speed regulation by operating around torque peak.

Doctors have killed a hundred times more people than guns.
I'll admit that there are a few that treat their patients
instead of their patients' symptoms. Before any of you
doctors out there jump on me, understand that my wife's
been in a wheelchair for three years and I've saved her

Take a gander at http://www.webconx.dns2go.com/cogen.htm for vw diesel

why not go dc generation. then precise rpm control is less of an issue.

Hi:
I joined this group looking for dialog on alternate fuel use and I
hope to input some ideas I have on their possible uses.
I suspect that an energy crisis is soon coming due either to the
massive bombing of Iraq in mid April or the peaking of world petroleum
production around 2005.

Gaw:
Used VW diesel engines 1980-1985 cost about $200 used.
Rebuilt long block $900
New long block $1900
New injector pump $580
I paid $650
One crumpled Jetta, Golf or Rabbit (not many of the latter left in
junkyards) - ~$300.00 US
One diesel powered Gen Set Priceless!
Funny how some will drop $150.00 for a few parts at a junkyard but won't
shell out the cash for all the parts.

I'd rather put my money in your lottery than anything on the open market, or
much on the open market of ideals.
