ESPN will show tonight's Van Damme Memorial on Saturday from 2-4pm(Eastern).
There have been some defections, but it still looks like a pretty good meet.
EL Guerrouj apparently asked meet officials to put on a mile, so I guess he's
looking for a good one...Michael Johnson returns to action in
Seat 1A, Mr. Greer
Seat 1B, Mr. MJ
no surprise that they went, since they were 3-4 in Day 1 voting. On the ohter
hand, Greer was the clear loser today, but MJ had more votes on Day 1. MJ
almost hung on, but the last gasps of voting went big for him.

This would be Arnie "why the hell isn't he in the hall of fame" Robinson. No.
6 scorer all-time in the TFN World Rankings, Olympic gold and bronze medals,
6-time national outdoor champion.
More deserving than Bob Beamon.

One inquiring mind wanted to know:
Shouldn't we ask the athletes listed if they would really want to have
dinner with members of the list?
The obvious answer is that since you're paying, there's no question they'll
show up!
:-)

He's not in?! It could be that, unfortunately, nobody "nominated" him. No
other reason would make any sense.

Will there be any sort of website with good updates
and quick results from Hood To Coast? Who cares if MJ's is OK and runs
43something. He couldn't hack THE relay of all relays.
What I really want to know is how McVeigh and his
evil shin hold up on that first leg, as well as the rest of

Yikes! What happened to John Capel in the deuce? He got blasted. For
once, those of you in the U.S. will actually see coverage first! No
coverage down under until Sunday afternoon.
Great win for Kotova in the long jump. Looks like she hasn't missed a beat.
Don't sleep on Heike. I'm telling

I've always felt that if athletes at the USATF NC competed under the

I don't recall seeing any discussion about this on our list, maybe I
missed it. However, it looks as though Running USA is finally going to
follow the suit with the walkers. Having helped establish a center

Crystal Springs is a nice course. I've race it a couple times, and it's
tough (first time I raced it I got stung in the head by a bee during
warmups--that's a tough course). To my mind, the BEST cross country course
I've ever run is located a little further North, at Lake Lagunitas in the
shadow
I've done lots of runs, though no races at Crystal
Springs. Having grown up on Long Island and raced at
Sunken Meadow and Van Cortland, both GREAT courses, I
would have loved to raced at CS. This is XC at its
best, very hilly and windy, and easy to lose your
competitors around a quick bend.

Also, has anyone noticed that the Pre-NCAA meet in Ames is going to be a
10K this year? Interesting. Will some that usually go avoid it this time
around? Of course, if they heed Coach McDonnell's words from the TFN
article last year they'll want to run another 10K near the end of the
season.
MJ makes his debut after injury today (tonight) in Brussels .. The meet
record is 44.06 (held by MJ) .. Does MJ break his meet record today ??
Or how about the order of finish for Bailey / Boldon / Greene in the 100 AND
Boldon / Capel / Obikwelu in the 200 ??
My guesses are:
Johnson - 44.25
