Not really. First search Google, if you don´t get, what you are looking for,
post it on Forum or Mailing List. And Google is the best, when you search
for like this:

আমি রিকভারি মোডের হাফেজ হইতে চাই কোনখান থেকে তালিম নিবো বলতে পারেন?

And most important thing is, main subject of this mail was about X Server,
not the recovery mode.

I don't think your problem is X. You would not even get the Login screen if
X was corrupted, right?

Compiz might be the problem. Boot in recovery mode reinstall/remove compiz,
then reboot. *might* solve your problem.
if not most probably your kernel module for NVIDIA is corrupted,
reinstalling the driver or kernel might solve the problem (It happened to me
once),

also you might want to post Xorg's log file here.

if you could tell the address of xorg.logs exact path would have been a
help. As I have this single machine now, cant experiment too long.
And your analysis sounds very close to me. Cuz I trid the 'try to recover
X-Server' that that enabled this login screen. Compiz or Any loader that
brings in the Desktop is the reason behind this failure thats what I
believe.

Instead, your user profile session has corrupted configuration. You

you can test by creating another user first to see if your X is really
broken. Enter into command mode, create the user running

 sudo adduser username

Login with this user rebooting in GUI mode. Or you can just login with
it and run startx for GUI.

First check if you've enough disk space on your /home partition or not.

Use the df command to do so in virtual terminal (ALT+CTRL+F1).

 Then what?
I guess I have enough space. While at recovery it removed 85 obsolete
packages from installatioins. Still no solution.

I have other user accounts and I forgot their passwords(common scenerio :P)
And I tried to login those dont authenticate.

and My usual account does. All it happened is a malfunctioning Xserver,
which I believe.
Yes still using Gnome as didn't feel comfortable with KDE didn't have much
time for getting familiar with lots of features (ie. shortcut keystrokes and
many other handy things).

I tried to login with sessions like : default, gnome, kde, failsafe etc
all of them just does the blank screen attempt to load the
xserver(desktop) then flicker and come back to login screen.

with df command it showed usage stats of less than 26% at any
partitions. /home was not shown there.

need an urgent solution as I am using IRDA on Nokia 6020 ( the cable dont
get the modem detected on windows) which is really slow like less than 1kB/s
to 3.5kB/s

Re: [Ubuntu-BD] X server corrupted

2009-02-09 Thread tanjir
Once you reconfigured your x-server, can you go and manually check if you have
vesa as your default video controller in /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? If no, then
make it vesa and also if possible can you post your xorg.conf file? Also few
questionnaires:
1. Did you have your desktop effect turned on?
2. Are you using compiz/beryl?
3. Is your graphics card ATI or NVidia? Are you using proprietary driver for it?
