Each time I login to Kubuntu I have to go to System Settings - Desktop
Effects and click on a button called Resume Compositing.

There was a post on the forums about a user who is unable to stop publishing
files. So I tested this again and am still not able to stop publishing a file.
r-click 'Stop Publishing on Ubuntu One' and i can still access the file via
the url. . The r-click menu does go back to displaying the
HP DV6 1120el is affected too, Lucid Lynx

Thanks for your investigations. I'm a bit hesitant to apply this, since
it is really a workaround. Without cd_profiles() we do not have any
chance to determine what kind of media is in it, i. e. whether it's
rewritable, a DVD, and so on. So I guess this wouldn't be much more

I can confirm that this problem still exists in Kubuntu Lucid Lynx
(10.04). It doesn't matter whether the check box Show windows from all
screens is checked or not - always only the windows from the screen
where the panel is located are listed.
