folder renaming selects only the part before the last dot

I created a script like: fixbacklight.sh which had the command to set backlight
to a certain amount using xbacklight.
Then I created a custom keyboard shortcut which ran this script. I am sure if
you dig a little bit you can find some file which gets run each time you login.
I just login and

I have Samsung NP-R530 laptop computer, did a clean install of Ubuntu Oneiric

Found a solution, it needs AF_INET forced, assuming something with there
no longer being a default in new libraries:
in ffserver.c from line #605:
