My solution has been to permanently mount the NAS volume by editing the
/etc/fstab file. With it mounted, even Nautilus doesn't have problems
any more moving files or complete folders.

The last updates did not fix the problem for me. Now instead of going
all white I get a black screen with sparse red and green dots.

My Firefox configuration is similar to yours and I do not get a crash.
(The video is actually kind of neat.) However, I notice that you're
using 64-bit Ubuntu and I'm using 32 bit. I'll have to test on my 64 bit
machine later today.
