Have the Fedora 34 regular latest version running fine,
and have the had 7.2.x versions up to 7.2.5 and both work
fine.
Thought perhaps having 7.2.5 and 7.3 caused issue, so
uninstalled both, and then reinstalled 7.3, but same
results.
Have uninstalled 7.3, and put the 7.2.5 back, and it is
working.
Only tested with Calc, so not sure if 7.3 had other items
working?
Don't know what it actual submitted with the error it
found, or if includes any way to contact me of issue?
Thanks.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Collabora experience?

2021-03-14 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure

Hi,

Did you try to open the file from Collabora Office ?

Best regards.

Good evening from Japan
The following is probably really stupid. Please bear with me for a moment.

About 3 weeks ago I got a smartphone - first time ever. I did use an older mobile phone
before, but deliberately refused to learn how to operate that thing.

(I hate these mobile phones)

Well, I also use something like Dropbox, but supposedly more secure = pCloud (based in
Switzerland)
(if someone should sign up there and tell those guys, I referred you (no idea how that
works), maybe I get a GB extra space ... but I am not trying to do any sort of business here)

Most of the files in there are created with LibreOffice, plus some text files
and PDFs.
This pCloud is available for Android, so I installed it. So far, so good.
LibreOffice, however, is NOT directly available for Android. Therefore I was referred to
"Collabora". Installed that too.

Problem:
When I try to open ANY file (except PDF), I get messages telling me, the file (ALL files)
are "read-only" and saving is diabled.

If I want to access any file, I have to
* make the file available offline
* choose to edit it
* choose a software to do so (here Collabora), EVERY time
-> if successful, I am again asked, whether I want to open a read-only file, or
edit a copy.
* if I edit a copy, that will then be stored somewhere in the phone and NOT in one of the
folders on pCloud.

That renders the whole idea of having files "in the cloud" useless, doen't it?

The pCloud support send me (partially) the following:
"You can open the pCloud files with all kinds of 3rd party apps but unfortunately, you can
not save the changes in pCloud.
You'll probably need a paid version of LibreOffice in order to save the changes to pCloud
so you have to download the edited files locally and upload to pCloud.

If you wish to edit files directly from pCloud, you can use Google Sheets."
And Google Sheets etc. is something I do NOT want to use.

BTW, the same thing happens when I use AIRSEND. (have not tried anything else)

Has anybody any experience with using LibreOffice = Collabora with an Android
smartphone?
Is there maybe a trick?
If not, that is just fine. I consider working with this miniture machine a form of
"digital torture" anyway.

Sorry for the trouble
Thomas

You can show the cursor as a pen and use it to draw or write on the

Insert → Field → More fields → Document: under Type select Date and then if

I uninstalled 6.0.0.3 and let the updater install 6.0.0.3 over the top of LO
5. The installation was subsequently upgraded to 6.0.1.1.

Now LO crashes if I start it and click on File->Open It also crashes
(and automatically restarts!) if I start it and click on File->Exit
LibreOffice. However, if I first open a file from the Recent Documents menu
OR let LO recover the untouched empty default document I can then open files
with File->Open... or exit without prompting a crash.

The error message simply says "Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice
crashed." No clue as to the nature of the error. Anyone have any suggestions
as to how to fix this problem or where to look for further information?

Did you try to rename your LO profile ? It is in ~/.config/libreoffice

That does not depend only on your processor, but also on your mass

build) and the build options you have chosen (for example the number of
parallel jobs). And probably on your OS too.

For me a complete build is about 2 hours with an i7 with 2 physical

a Linux OS. On my previous PC it was about 4 hours with a HD and a i7

Obviously, Calc uses the date instead of date+hour to define the
category. Why, I do not know. But it's clear that in this case you do
not have true categories because you have only one value for each
category. In such cases you should use XY chart type instead of line,
because what you want to show is a function F(t).

If you really want use line chart + categories, it works if you replace
the formula in column B by:
=TEXT((A2/1000)/86400+25569;"JJ/MM/ HH:MM:SS")

Another point: you should use a secondary Y-axis to make state changes
visible.

It works since LO 3.3 and before that, since StarOffice 5. ;-)

That said,
- what do you do exactly to set the background color in a cell ?
- what is the format of your file, .ods or one of MSO ?
- Do you use cell styles in your spreadsheet, for example for
conditional formatting ?

Ok, but you do not do what you say. Current "Fresh" version is the third
bugfix of 5.0, aka 5.0.3. The fourth digit in the version number is the
release candidate number. Current 5.0.3 is 5.0.3.2 because its 2nd RC
has been declared stable enough to be final 5.0.3.

Current "Still" version is the 6th bugfix of 4.4, aka 4.4.6.

You should always install the _latest bugfix_ of the current

The current [Stable/Fresh] branch is [4.4/5.0] and its latest bugfix is
[4.4.6/5.0.3].
As you have already chosen the Stable branch, you should install 5.0.3

open it, still fast, just my old spreadsheet that is very slow to open.

You should try with the second release candidate for LO 3.6.1 which is
now available and will be probably the final LO 3.6.1.
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

I deleted every sheets in it, created a new one, went into
File-Properties, click the Reset button, close, save, re-open : still very
slow. I disabled the real-time protection of MS Security Essentials : still
very slow. For the 2m10 duration to open it, my CPU (Intel i5) is only at
 1-3% and soffice.bin consumes only 23 080k of memory (I have a total of 6
 GB).

I'm attaching the file which is now only at 12 KB since I deleted all
 sheets.

 Hi Jean,

If I remember well, you are using Ubuntu 10.04. So to uninstall LO 3.4,
if you installed the version from LO website (instead of Ubuntu PPA
repository), the easiest way I know to select all related packages in
Synaptic is to find the package ure for libreoffice. For LibreOffice
3.4 its name is libreoffice3.4-ure. All other LO 3.4 packages but one
are depending on this one. The last package to remove is
 libreoffice3.4-debian-menus or something like that.

You are right, known problem, but it seems that it is not so easy to do

As a workaround, you do not need to disable the unwanted dictionnaries

the dictionnaries you want to install.

Try FormatCharacterTab: Font Effects and under Effects select

or change existing text to small capitals.

Small Capitals is not listed under FormatChange Case

Thank you, Jay. That works. It's a little clumsy, but at least it can

Bad idea. As MS-Office formats are foreign formats for LibreOffice, your
users wil have a less good user experience with LibO because you force
the software to make format conversions each time you open or save a
document.

I think other formats than ODF should be considered only as export
formats, like pdf is. Work in ODF, save in ODF and, if you have to send
your file, choose an export format accordingly to the usage of the file.
If receiver of the document does not need to modify the file, pdf is the
right format. If he needs to modify the document and is not able to work
with ODF (nobody is perfect), then you should export your document to
doc (MS-Office 97/2000/XP). But your ODF version should always be your
reference version.

That is IMO a bad idea. If you need to send an editable file and you work on
ODF, converting to Word at the last minute (i.e. before sending) is the
WORST option possible. It is almost 100% guaranteed that the document
(unless it's ONLY plain text) will NOT look the same.

So if you know that the person receiving it needs Doc, the best option is to
work on Doc from the start.

No, because you will have exactly the same problem: even if you save in
MS-Office formats, LibO use ODF as internal format, so you have a
conversion problem each time you save your file.

And it is not prohibited to be careful and check your converted file
before to send it.

On other hand if, during editing your document, you avoid the use of
manual formatting, use only predefined style (you can modify them
without problem) and do not use exotic fonts, then conversion problems
will be dramatically reduced.

Re: [libreoffice-users] [writer] How to check a whole table cell ?

Hi,

Sorry, I answered for Calc instead of Writer.
You can copy-paste a table from Calc to Writer.

Is there any way to do without using 2 misplaced lines ?

I am not sure if your question has been understood :-)
If I understand right, you can do what you want in LibreOffice 3.4 :
right click - format cell tab border and choose the crossing ones.

Perhaps you should ask for help on the French speaking mailing-list :

You can use regular expressions (look at this words in the index of the

You will may prefer to use the extension altsearch.oxt if you can find it...

Hmm, that sounds weird. Have you tried re-naming the config folder to force
LibreOffice to generate a new one? You can find the path from
 Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Paths
 and it's something like
 ~/libreoffice/3/user
You can use your normal file-browser. In Windows i don't think you even need
 to
be administrator or anything. I tend to rename the 3 to a reverse date
 format
such as 2011-09-06 so that LO creates a new 3. The newly generated folder
 will
get LO back to factory defaults. If it works then you might want to copy
 back
some of your extensions, galleries and things.

 Regards from
 Tom :)

I confirm: I have the same strange problem with LibO 3.4.3 x86_84 under
Ubuntu (FR langpack).
Re-naming the config folder solved the problem.

I am pretty sure that this bug was not there when I installed LibO 3.4.3
rc2 for my QA tests. Strange.

changed my email address so I had to unsubscribe the old one and subscribe
the new one. It all went without a hitch because I checked first at the
get-help page on the Libreoffice.org website and found out that the correct
 unsubscribe address is users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org, NOT
 users+h...@global.libreoffice.org.

Please read more carefully the text of the footer. It does not tell you
the address where to send a message to unsubscribe but the address where
to write to get the instructions how to unsubscribe. I guess this
indirect procedure is useful because you need to be informed that you
will have to answer to the confirmation request.

Strange, I did exactly what you said and still have the same problem. All
fields are formatted as time HH:mm. Both with the standard formula
(=Cell1-Cell2) and using the TIME function (=TIME(0,0,0)-TIME(2,0,0) I get
 22:00:00 as my output.

Try to format the result cell as number not as time.
Or choose this time format : [HH]:MM:SS (876613:37:46 in the time
formats list)

 Bonsoir,

 ---
 1 | a | d | e |
 2  | b  |  f ||
 3  | c  ||  g |

et c'est celle-ci qui servirait directement pour la création d'étiquettes.

Soit, une solution de 2 tables, disons S (membre) comme actuellement :

 id | ad | n | s |
 ---
 1 | a | d | f |
 2 | a | e | m |
 3 | b | f | f |
 4 | c | g | m |

 et puis T (epoux) :

 id | ad | nm | s |
 ---
 1 | a | z | f |
 2 | a | y | m |
 3 | b | z | f |
 4 | c | a | m |

 Puis ta requête serait :

SELECT S.ad as Adresse, S.n as Nom, T.nm as Mari from S,T where
 S.ad = T.ad

I do not know any way to move a section. But you can do this:
In the Navigator you can choose three different modes when you drag an
objet. If you choose insert as copy you can create with the mouse a
copy of the misplaced section in another place. After that you can
delete the original section.
