Re: [Users] Huawei config
Thanks ! 2011/4/17 Stanisław Czech s.cz...@nowatel.com In 1.5.0 this is no longer (necessarily) a custom MMSC. So you could add something like this: group = mmsc id=modem type = mm1 mm1-sms-on-command = lynx -dump 'http://localhost:13000/start-smsc?password=barsmsc=modemsmsc' mm1-sms-off-command = lynx -dump 'http://localhost:13000/stop-smsc?password=barsmsc=modemsmsc' incoming-port = 13014 mmsc-url = http://mms.orange.pl mm1-http-proxy = 192.168.6.104:8080 mm1-msisdn=0048505505505 mm1-gprs-on-command = /usr/local/mbuni/sbin/start-mms-gprs mm1-gprs-pid-command = cat /var/run/ppp-mms.pid|head -1 IT WORKS :) Simply by changing custom-mms to this format everything started to work and I'm able to send mms. Thanks for the support. On the http://www.hardill.me.uk/wordpress/?p=17 Ben posted complete config for the ppp connection on Huawei if anyone would need it. Hello Jamo, To compose MMS check on Nokia MMS forum. You can also use the HTTP API from Mbuni to send MMS: # lynx -dump http://localhost:10001/?username=altmmspassword=altmmsto=+687783548/TYPE=PLMNsubject=Test-MMStext=MMSTexte; With a SMIL file: # lynx -dump ' http://localhost:13501?username=password=from=xxxto=xxsubject=testesmil=http://localhost:84/main-allison.smil The SMIL: smil head meta name=title content=oi2 / meta name=author content=MMS / layout root-layout width=160 height=160 / region id=Image width=160 height=120 left=0 top=0 / region id=Text width=160 height=20 left=0 top=120 / /layout /head body par dur=3s img src=path_to_img region=Image / /par /body /smil Try to look on google and Mbuni list about this If you want to use Mbuni as a MMS-C you will need a public IP address because Mbuni will send a Notification to recipient (binary SMS) that will make the recipient mobile connecting to GPRS/3G network and fetch the MMS URL that will be something like http://mbuni_public_ip:port/path/to/mms If you are using a gprs/3G modem to send your MMS then it is your MMS-C provider who will deliver MMS to recipient and you don't need public IP address, recipient mobile will fetch MMS stored on provider's MMS-C. Regards, Emmanuel 2011/3/29 jamo njoroge patja...@gmail.com @emmanuel how do you go about composing the mms's you attached? also do you need to have a public ip address to send mms's via a gsm network as i have tried sending them but on them from mbuni but on the handset it says, message retrieval failed what could be the issue? Yes it should be ok Try to reach your MMS-C using *telnet 165.21.42.84 8080* when ppp0 is up and rounting is done. Or do this test with mbuni stop and launch ppd by hand *'pppd call mobile-auth'* If you succeed then maybe you post a bad MMS. What is the command you run to post a MMS to Mbuni ? Re: [Users] Mbuni Nokia 6230 configuration (mmsbox-mm1)
What is you custom setting in mmsbox.conf? It seems you keep ppp0.pid and didn't manage using ppp0-mbuni.pid. Mbuni wait until this ppp0.pid file is created before sending the MMS BUT Mbuni doesn't wait that the routing is done to reach MMSC so using ip-up script you should create a ppp0-mbuni.pid lynk (symlink to ppp0.pid) This symlink is created as soon as routing is done in ip-up script * mmsbox.conf in custom settings: gprs-pid=cat /var/run/ppp0-mbuni.pid|head -1* ip-down should contain the command to remove this symlink when ppp0 connection is closed Emmanuel 2010/8/25 Michel TOKO tokomic...@gmail.com This is a part of the log. So is there a problem when the sender is not a MSISDN address ? In mmlib/mms_util.c I found: *if (isphonenum(*address) || (typ octstr_str_case_compare(typ, /TYPE=PLMN) == 0)) { mms_normalize_phonenum(address, unified_prefix, strip_prefixes); octstr_append(*address, keep_suffix ? octstr_imm(/TYPE=PLMN) : octstr_imm()); } else if (typ) octstr_append(*address, keep_suffix ? typ : octstr_imm()); else octstr_append(*address, keep_suffix ? octstr_imm(@unknown) : octstr_imm()); octstr_destroy(typ); }* Not being an expert in C I wonder if Mbuni is able to replace a MSISDN address by a string and why it should add '@unknown' after the string. In any case even with this it don't seems to work as my From field value is empty... Maybe some Mbuni experts a some clues about this ? Re: [Users] From Header value mmsbox with MM1 m-send-req
Any help from some experts? Best regards, Emmanuel 2010/8/20 Emmanuel CHANSON emmanuelchan...@gmail.com I tested with 1010 as sender in the URL and 1010 also configured in fake-sender that overide the from url value: In mbuni log I see: bearerbox.c:1519 sendMsg [MM7] [n/a] Sent MMSBox Outgoing Queue MMS Send: *From 1010,* to +687773502/TYPE=PLMN, msgsize=25088: msgid=[B16C7CA0902E3919037AA6780EA962E2] BUT in the pcap trace I have that: ... Subject: Test 1010 X-Mms-Expiry: Aug 26, 2010 15:22:21.0 Date: Aug 20, 2010 02:22:21.0 *From: insert address* To: +*msisdn*/TYPE=PLMN ... And MMS is received with the sender MSISDN instead of 1010. BR, Emmanuel 2010/8/19 Alvaro Cornejo cornejo.alv...@gmail.com Have you tried a numeric From? The @unknown seems to come from the 2nd else in the code you quoted. This means that Sender is valued as false in if (isphonenum(*address) || (typ octstr_str_case_compare(typ, /TYPE=PLMN) == 0)) and in if(typ)... What does that means... no idea Regards Alvaro |-| Envíe y Reciba Datos y mensajes de Texto (SMS) hacia y desde cualquier celular y Nextel en el Perú, México y en mas de 180 paises. (test done in another context without Mbuni). The thing is that I ask some info about how Mbuni handle these different parameters (sender, faked-sender, ...) because I have a behavior I don't understand where: - I have the string let's say Sender set in my config file, - I send my MMS - Inside mbuni logs I do see 'from sen...@unknown' - In the pcap trace I don't see any value in From Header !! the field is empty - On my mobile phone I receive the MMS with +123456789 from value I think because the From value inside pcap trace is empty then MMS-C put the Sender modem MSISDN. So is there a problem when the sender is not a MSISDN address ? In mmlib/mms_util.c I found: if (isphonenum(*address) || (typ octstr_str_case_compare(typ, /TYPE=PLMN) == 0)) { mms_normalize_phonenum(address, unified_prefix, strip_prefixes); octstr_append(*address, keep_suffix ? octstr_imm(/TYPE=PLMN) : octstr_imm()); } else if (typ) octstr_append(*address, keep_suffix ? typ : octstr_imm()); else octstr_append(*address, keep_suffix ? octstr_imm(@unknown) : octstr_imm()); octstr_destroy(typ); } Not being an expert in C I wonder if Mbuni is able to replace a MSISDN address by a string and why it should add '@unknown' after the string. In any case even with this it don't seems to work as my From field value is empty... Maybe some Mbuni experts a some clues about this ? Regards, Emmanuel 2010/8/19 Alvaro Cornejo cornejo.alv...@gmail.com Emmanuel Don't know much about mbuni, but for sms messaging with gsm modems it is no possible to set the From variable. It allways will be the SIM phone number (MSISDN). This feature is restricted by the operators in general. You can do that with SMPP. As you connect through GPRS, it might be different. Better ask your provider if it is possible. Regards Alvaro |-| Envíe y Reciba Datos y mensajes de Texto (SMS) hacia y desde cualquier celular y Nextel en el Perú, México y en mas de 180 paises. [Users] Mbuni MM1 behavior regarding ppp connection and MMS stored in queue
I already reported this behavior but I think it is better to open a new thread for this. I notice that in my config, Mbuni connect and disconnect from ppp GPRS connection for each MMS stored in queue. Is it a normal behavior ? Piotr told me that in its config: *With settings similar to yours I get the behaviour when mbuni sends everything that is queued and then disconnects. Maybe if you patch mmsbox_mm1.c to add a 2 second sleep at end of inner loop in handle_mm1 function that will solve your problem.* So should Mbuni connect and disconnect for each MMS ? Or can we set an options to keep the ppp connection open until all MMS stored are sent ? Others options: - patch Mbuni to add a 2 second sleep ? If Piotr you can show me which function to add in order to have the sleep ? Or anybody else :) - manage pppd and ignore SIGTERM sent by Mbuni ? How to do this ? - ... Re: [Users] Mbuni try to send POST MMS before GPRS connection is established
Wil try this advise. Many thanks Piotr for your help, you sort me out from a big issue. Regards, Emmanuel 2010/8/5 Piotr Isajew p...@ex.com.pl With settings similar to yours I get the behaviour when mbuni sends everything that is queued and then disconnects. Maybe if you patch mmsbox_mm1.c to add a 2 second sleep at end of inner loop in handle_mm1 function that will solve your problem. Also take a look at queue-run-interval and send-attempt-back-off settings. Is it a normal behavior ? or is it possible to keep the ppp0 open and send all MMS stored in spool before closing it ? You can always play with gprs-on and pid stuff; that would include setting idle timer in pppd and playing somehow with pids you pass to mbuni (you would need to create a kind of shielding script that manages pppd and ignores SIGTERM's from mbuni) Many thanks Piotr for your support, you helped me to solve this :) I plan to developp a web interface that can use mbuni to send MMS. Yes, by default mmsbox.conf has the following config: group = mbuni storage-directory = /var/spool/mbuni max-send-threads = 5 maximum-send-attempts = 50 default-message-expiry = 36 queue-run-interval = 5 send-attempt-back-off = 300 sendmms-port = 10001 max-send-threads set to 5 but Mbuni connect and disconnect for each MMS If this is normal behavior of Mbuni, need to check for a patch or a script that handle pppd Emmanuel 2010/8/5 Piotr Isajew p...@ex.com.pl On Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 04:59:59AM +0200, Emmanuel CHANSON wrote: I forgot to add /sbin before 'ip route' in ip-up script, now it is Ok Things is Mbuni connect to GPRS, send the MMS and disconnect just after although a second MMS has to be sent, reconnect, send it and disconnect? have you tried to set max-send-threads to something greater than 1? Re: [Users] Mbuni try to send POST MMS before GPRS connection is established
One question: Does Mbuni will open and close GPRS connection each time it will have to send a MMS ? or does it keep the connection always open ? Is it a good idea to keep the GPRS connection open in case a lot of MMS have to be send through modem? I will check about if-up script. Others ideas maybe ? Just to confirm that it is a normal behavior and I should not use pppd call gprs that lead to this behavior ? BR, Emmanuel 2010/8/3 Piotr Isajew p...@ex.com.pl You could also do this with proper if-up script. Mbuni tries to connect to MMS proxy when it sees pppd pid file. On other hand pid file is created _before_ interface IP and routing is set up. I solved this by symlinking ppp pid to some path in if-up after everything is set-up and making mbuni to look for a file on that path. Re: [Users] Mbuni try to send POST MMS before GPRS connection is established
Is it possible to get an example of the if-up/down script that deal with ppp0.pid symlink so that Mbuni start to send MMS only after the ppp0 connection is established? I notice that routing is also missing after the GPRS connection is established that is why maybe mbuni POST nothing. I need to set a route add mmsproxyip@ gw ppp0 in order to reach MMS-C One question about the port parameter: # Sample conf for MMSBox using a modem (MM1) group = mmsc id = modem type = custom custom-settings = gprs-on=pppd call mobile-auth;gprs-pid=cat /var/run/ppp0.pid|head -1;port=3130;mmsc-url= http://mms.x.xx/mmsc;proxy=192.168.39.201;msisdn=100; mmsc-library = /usr/local/lib/libmmsbox_mm1. Is it the same to use port=*3130* and mmsc-url=http://mmscurl;pro...@ip:* 3130* ? in the mmsbox.conf? In my case I use port=3130 and does not set a :port on the proxy parameter in mmsc-url Regards thanks for your help Emmanuel 2010/8/3 Piotr Isajew p...@ex.com.pl On Tue, Aug 03, 2010 at 05:44:30PM +1100, Emmanuel CHANSON wrote: One question: Does Mbuni will open and close GPRS connection each time it will have to send a MMS ? or does it keep the connection always open ? It opens connection once there is something in queue and keeps it open until processing queue is empty. In reality to achieve this you should have max-send-threads slightly higher than amount of modems used. I.e. for one modem you shoud have 2 sending threads. With one thread it will open and close the connection for each message. Is it a good idea to keep the GPRS connection open in case a lot of MMS have to be send through modem? If you have lots to send you could write fake start-gprs script that does nothing and start persistent pppd connection outside of mbuni. That could evolve to inteligent start-gprs script that starts gprs connection once something appears on queue and stays open for some idle period while cheating mbuni for closing connection (mbuni kills pid given in pid file when it does not need gprs connection any more) I will check about if-up script. Others ideas maybe ? Just to confirm that it is a normal behavior and I should not use pppd call gprs that lead to this behavior ? depends on your options. To be more specific using 'nodetach' option of pppd works better for me. Re: [Users] Re: Kannel sms-service configuration in order to triggMbuni VASP and retrieve a MMS
Thanks Nicos for these answers. I know this is certainly feasible but I wondered if it was the correct way to implement this or if it exist another way dedicated to this kind of service (many used I thinked by VASP). So I needed a confirmation. And about the second question, I understand VASP should already have some content stored somewhere and its URL associated in order for sms-service to trigg these contents by using I think parameters in the URL to get different contents. Will try... Regards, Emmanuel 2009/12/1 Nikos Balkanas nbalka...@gmail.com Hi, I don't know much Mbuni VASP, but what you describe is certainly feasible. Have you tried it? You seem to know how to configure the sms-service for kannel (keywords, get-url). You can certainly point it to your local webserver and invoke sendmms with the appropriate arguments. I have a feeling, though, that this is not the intended way to work VASP. Mbuni VASP should have its own URL for this purpose, which you should invoke from SMS service with the appropriate arguments. Any VASP provider should have already the (MMS) content already uploaded to the VASP server. This should be detailed in VASP configuration. BR Emmanuel 2009/11/25 Emmanuel CHANSON emmanuelchan...@gmail.com Hello, My goal is to retrieve a MMS from Mbuni VASP through a sms-service defined in Kannel. Has anyone already implement this config? (or know how to do this?) What sms-service config should I use in Kannel in order to trigg mbuni configured as VASP ? And on mbuni side, what step do I have to follow in order to offer a MMS to this sms-service ? I have to create the MMS and store it somewhere, then what URL to use in sms-service to start the MMS downloading from the mobile.. Re: [Users] [MMSBox] sendmms CGI script and Kannel sendsms notification / Nothing received on the mobile
Thanks Paul, I will investiguate further on this. I would ike to use both to make tests. Regards, Emmanuel 2009/11/16 Paul Bagyenda bagye...@dsmagic.com You run Mbuni MMSC if you want to behave like an operator, switching messages between phones (and perhaps other networks or VASPs). You run Mbuni MMSBox if you are a VASP, connecting to an operator to send/receive messages through them. That's the key difference between the two modes and is important to understanding how to use the two together. Hello Nikos, Ok so you mean in case of an MMS that includes only text, we do not receive any notification? Why is the second message size bigger than the first one including a picture? Has anybody an example of how to send a content (SMIL or whatever) using CGI parameter? I don't see anything in the Mbuni documentation. Regards, Emmanuel 2009/11/13 Nikos Balkanas nbalka...@gmail.com Hi, In the first case the push is 132 B and fits 1 SMS In the 2nd case push is 148 B and is split in 2 SMS. I don't know what coding mbuni is using, but if the push is 8-bit or 7-bit + Udh length 160, then it should split. As far as notification goes, I imagine that in the first case, that you have a picture, you get a notification to get it. In the second case that you don't have anything, what to be notified for? [Users] Re: Mbuni MMS retrieve from Openwave SDK
I succeed to send MMS from mmssend to a mobile that retrieve it so my previous issue is an Openwave issue.. I will try to find another MMS simulator Emmanuel 2009/10/28 Emmanuel CHANSON emmanuelchan...@gmail.com Still trying to send an retrieve mms using mmssend: # mmssend -f +687xx -t +687x -m /home/manu/softs/Mbuni/cat.mms /etc/mmsc.conf Notification is received by the mobile, then I catch the fetch url in the log because my MMSC is not reachable in the operator netswork from my mobile so I use Openwave SDK and try to retrieve the MMS but I get an error: Unsupported content type... My url is: Preparing to notify client to fetch message at URL: http://61.5.221.52/mmsc/mm1/qf8019.2.x40...@2/wx66 But on Openwave i put http://61.5.221.52:*8191*/mmsc/mm1/qf8019.2.x40...@2 /wx66 and I get this error above. The log from mbuni during a retrieve test from Openwave (attached) Any idea? Regards, Emmanuel 2009/10/26 Emmanuel CHANSON emmanuelchan...@gmail.com Hello to everybody, I am testing mbuni and I would like to use a HTTP mobile phone (not WAP). So I am confused with the use of squid and its role in the system. Can someone explain why and how to use squid in the system? Do I have to use it to reach mms-port 8191? Re: [Users] Mbuni and squid config / need help
Thnaks Paul for this answer, So I should be able to 'NAT' using squid any port configured in input port (let's say 3130) to the output port 8191 used by mbuni ? I don't find any parameter in squid.conf where I can set this, there is http_port for input but how to configure squid in order to route 3130 n input to the output port 8191? Regards, Emmanuel 2009/10/28 Paul Bagyenda bagye...@dsmagic.com Squid is required if you have some custom script that adds the MSISDN header to the HTTP header prior to passing the data to Mbuni, or if you need to translate the request URL from the phone (say http://mmsc) to the real mbuni URL (say http://localhost:8191/ ) In terms of configuring the phone, you should put in a URL that can (one way or the other) be translated into the Mbuni host and port.
