just to let you know that I have found what was wrong.
At the end of emerge, I didn't accept modification of my
/etc/conf.d/spamd script when I upgrade to SpamAssassin 3.2.1-r1.
To fix the issue, I have finally just replaced my old SPAMD_OPTS in
/etc/conf.d/spamd file by
SPAMD_OPTS="-m
I call spamc from various .procmail files (relating to different users)
as below:
| spamc
I want to add some extra rules for one of these users. From the spamc
docs I thought I'd have to replace this with :
| spamc -F /path/to/file
but this didn't seem to have any effect.

No, spamc has no impact on rules. You could look at putting the rules in
the
user's user_prefs file, but you'd have to then also set allow_user_rules 1
in local.cf to allow user preferences to include rules. Be sure to think
about the security aspects to this before doing so. If

No. sa-update only updates the ruleset. It does not

My user primarily uses pine as the interface, and I've got .procmailrc set
