Well you could add a comment to the bug

Several, but at its core PS Type 1 fonts have been on borrowed time since
TrueType and OpenType were implemented.
Users should have replaced or converted their fonts.

The same argument could be used of TrueType fonts.

Why should they,
This font thread has been interesting to me. As an end user, I don't
know diddly about font technology. However, I am quite obsessive about
fonts and making sure I get the right results.
I'm using LO 5.1.6.2 on Linux Mint 18. I also have an old Windows Vista

I have upgraded my computer and am migrating my files from Windows 7 (32-bit)
to Windows 10 (64-bit). Last night I downloaded the latest version of
LibreOffice 5.3.0.3 (x64). Writer seems to be reading files my old files
without any trouble. Impress is another matter.
Some of my slides look fine.
Thank you. That absolutely fixed it. I am glad to share in the expertise of
participants in this forum.

Just upgraded to 5.2.5.1 and while working on the slide show there's no heading
on top of each slide for Normal view or Notes screen. Looks like the only way
to go back and forth between the two is to go to View and then click either
notes or normal. Isn't there a way to do that in one
This is a know issue [1] with our DirectWrite/Direct2D font rendering on
Windows using the new HarfBuzz based common layout when OpenGL rendering is
enabled.
As a workaround, disable OpenGL rendering to revert to GDI+ rendered
HarfBuzz layout that is not affected.
