I'd like to apply conditional formatting to a group of cells, based

to "sheet.$row$column", apply format to the entire range

Is this possible?

FWIW that link is unusable for me. As are each of the others below. They
all take me to
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/main.html

which sits there apparently constantly reloading the page. This is
using FF 115.11.0esr with the NoScript add-on that is set to disable
scripting on 'new' sites such as this one is to my browser.

wget appears to fetch and save the correct new_help.html but I haven't
investigated to see what FF finds so objectionable.

For the (Windows) portable package, the offline help is available in
English only.

In the LibreOffice download site, you could select to download a Help
package to _install_, but I am not sure how it would work with your
_portable_ version. I guess you really need to know what you are doing
in order to mix these 2 packages. Generally speaking, I wouldn't
recommend it.

Since you are using the portable package, I guess that the simplest
way to read the help content in Czech would be to read it on-line:

For LO 7.6:

For LO 24.2:

For the "latest" version (a moving target):

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help - how to get rid of 'administrator'

2024-03-06 Thread Alan B
Emily,

The following presumes you use Windows.

This is a test to attempt to isolate the problem...
* Use a thumb drive (USB drive) ,
* create and save a file to the thumb drive (use Write, Calc, or whichever
program you use most)
* close the program used to create the file
* eject the thumb drive
* right click the drive and pick the "Eject" option
* wait for the safe to remove message (this must be done to prevent
file corruption)
* remove the drive
* open the program again
* insert the thumb drive
* open the file and test if you can edit and save or not

If it is possible to edit and save the file on the thumb drive then the
problem is most likely the security settings for the location the files are
being saved to on the computer.

BUT even if files on the thumb drive can be edited and saved with
LibreOffice while those on the computer cannot be, there is still another
bit of info that's needed. Using other programs is it possible to
create/edit/save files to the same place on the computer as the LibreOffice
files?

If other files also can not be created/edited/saved to the same place with
other programs (the same problem as with LibreOffice) then the culprit is
nearly certainly the computer's security settings for that location.

If only the LibreOffice files can not be created/edited/saved then more
investigation into the files and LibreOffice installation will be needed.

If you try the above, please provide an update so we know if it is only
LibreOffice doing this (so likely an LO problem to work out) or other
programs do it too (so likely a computer security problem).

Knowing the above will help with troubleshooting and resolving the problem.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help - how to get rid of 'administrator'

2024-03-06 Thread John
FYI, on Fedora Linux using Libre Office 7.5.9.2 there is a "Restart in Safe
Mode" function on the
"help" pop down menu. About halfway down the menu. If you clicked this is may
have a "leave safe
mode" or equivalent in the same place because I don't have the "Start in Test
Mode" function on this
menu.

Hope that may be of some asistance.

Hi Emily,

I am not on LO 24 yet, but I suspect there is a way to do it from with
the program. Lacking that knowledge, the first thing that occurs to me
is to try with a new profile. Your profile remains even you re-install
or update and that is where your settings are saved.

You can test this by going to Help and choosing Start in Test Mode.
That will ignore your profile and, if it works, you can find your
LibreOffice profile folder and rename it. When you restart you will
have to redo your settings, although you can very likely copy most of
the components from your old folder.

Wish I could be more specific, but without knowing the OS or the latest
LO you're using, its a bit harder.

Hope this helps a bit,
Roy

Aguador, can you please link me the API documentation to convert 5 pages of PDF
to PNG, one by one, or together in one go.

Given 5 pages of PDF, LibreOffice API converts only first page to PNG.
LibreOffice API, do not have any Page Exacter or indexer where [i]th page of
one file containing 5 pages of PDF can be extracted.

work for you, you need to explain why.

Dave, Aguador: CC’ing the person who responded with a textual workaround which
seems to be inefficient and is non documented in LibreOffice API for further
explanation or a link to API endpoint.

Dave: Can you please link me to LibreOffice API documentation to convert a
multi-page text file to single page or multi-page PNG. If it’s not possible, do
you think there should be proper documentation for the same.

Devs, maintainers: One workaround to convert a multi-page text file to PNG is
to extract each page text and store into buffer streams (JAVA programming
language concept) and then write that text as PNG. For a huge file, or a
on-the-fly stream of files, say, 10KB to 100KB, this process, would be highly
inefficient, if not done by LibreOffice API using machines Syste

Pages can be displayed separate sheets, side by side, or where each page
is displayed as if they were in an open book. That is, evens on the
left, odds on the right of a landscape oriented piece of paper.

Good point - one others, myself included, neglected to mention.

It's an 8-page document and opens exactly as I would expect with each
page shown above the next page. I'm not sure how else to expect a

If you can see the whole document, it sounds like you need to adjust
the zoom level (View Menu/Zoom) and choose Entire Page or somesuch.

How may I break this down into individual pages within the document please so I
may work on each page and then page down?

You can decide, whether to show bottom/top margins and a little distance between
the pager or to show a continues text without bottom/top margins. That setting is
in menu View > item Whitespace.

Further have a look at the right side of the status bar. There are the icons "Single page view",
"Multi-page view" and "Book view". They determine how the pages are arranged in the
working area.

When you click on the percent value of the zoom field in the status bar a dialog opens.
There you can select between often used presets, e.g. "Fit width and height".

In all cases you come to the next page by scrolling of you use the PgUp and
PgDn keys. If you want to jump to a specific page you can enter the page number
in the Navigator in the side bar or use the shortcut Strg+G and enter the
target page name there.

The text is a continues text and page breaks are calculated dynamically.
Microsoft Word works the same way. That makes office suites different from
desktop publishing applications.

Hope somebody can help me with this as I have never seen this format before!

I hope when you play around with the settings you can solve your problem. If
not, please make a screenshot available. You cannot attach it to the mail.

With the link, thank you, I see that opening the document always shows me a
full screen view with thumbnails of all seven pages. If that is what you
mean by "it opens to show 7 pages all at once and showing in the same

Use the "View > Zoom" menu and select a page view that works for you.

a dialog opens. There you can select between often used presets, e.g.
"Fit width and height".

In all cases you come to the next page by scrolling of you use the PgUp
and PgDn keys. If you want to jump to a specific page you can enter the
page number in the Navigator in the side bar or use the shortcut Strg+G
and enter the target page name there.

The text is a continues text and page breaks are calculated dynamically.
Microsoft Word works the same way. That makes office suites different
from desktop publishing applications.

Hope somebody can help me with this as I have never seen this format
before!

I hope when you play around with the settings you can solve your
problem. If not, please make a screenshot available. You cannot attach
it to the mail. Attachments are automatically removed for this mailing list.

Document opened fine here. Yes, it opened as a single column, but you
can change that by selecting one of the other two layout icons in the
bottom toolbar (assuming default layout of LO).

Which website? There are visitbritain . com and . org

And what file name or document title?

With the above info, others can attempt to open it and solve the problem.

I've tried opening several .docx downloaded from the . org site. All opened
with no issue in LO 6.4.x

The list works in plain text, not HTML, and does not take attachments. If you
want to show a screenshot, best to use a sharing service like Dropbox and cite

In addition to all the other good suggestions, you might want to check
whether there is a backup of it. On my computer everything is under
~/.config/libreoffice and there are many files in a backup directory a
couple of levels down from there. You can check whether backups are
enabled using the Tools/Options/'Load/Save'/General menu/dialog and you
can check the exact place in Tools/Options/Libreoffice/Paths

it opens the last place I saved. Also, if you go to File/Recent

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help with Impress

2022-11-11 Thread Ade Malsasa Akbar
Hello Gregory,

I teach LibreOffice class with many students and now they use Impress
7.4 too. All succeeded doing presentations with 20-50 slides without
any crash. However, they all use GNU/Linux. So I can confirm at least
Impress 7.4 works normally on GNU/Linux.

Firstly, could you send your presentation file here? It might help
others to examine and reproduce the issues.

Secondly, as a suggestion, you might consider to try several different
versions of LibreOffice on Windows 10 and see which one works normally
for you and use the working one (I always do this). Experience told me
the latest version is not always the best.

Sincerely yours,

Ade Malsasa Akbar

Dave, *

LibreOffice uses the ICU Regular Expression libraries. Full documentation is
here:

https://unicode-org.github.io/icu/userguide/strings/regexp.html

While the projects documentation for its use is here:

https://help.libreoffice.org/7.3/en-US/text/shared/01/0211.html

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/bs/text/swriter/guide/search_regexp.html

There have been a number of tweaks for handling new line/end of para that you
can track in Bugzilla.

It means ”one or more of the previous character”. Well, it's {1,}, not
{.1.}.
You can also specify a maximum value, like this: {1,5}. This means ”at
least one and not more than 5 of the previous character.
For instance:
[0-9]{3,5}
This means at least three and not more than 5 numerical characters.

{N}

The post-fix repetition operator that specifies an exact
number of occurrences ("N") of the regular expression
term immediately preceding it must be present for a
match to occur. For example, "tre{2}" matches "tree".

{N,M}
The post-fix repetition operator that specifies a range
(minimum of "N" to a maximum of "M") of occurrences of
the regular expression term immediately preceding it
that can be present for a match to occur. For example,
"tre{1,2}" matches "tre" and "tree".

{N,}

The post-fix repetition operator that specifies a range
(minimum "N" to an unspecified maximum) of
occurrences of the regular expression term immediately
preceding it that can be present for a match to occur.
(The maximum number of occurrences is limited only by
the size of the document). For example, "tre{2,}"
matches "tree", "treee", and "tre".

So, [:space:]{1,}$ matches one or more spaces at end of

Thanks Steve, but no it's NOT sorted.

You have "Kinda" given me 1/2 a clue.

What does {.1.} mean?

In all my researching of regular expressions, I have never encountered
this option. The wonderful thing about *_STANDARDS_* is that there are
such a wide variety of different ones to randomly chose and use.

Just to make sure it is clear $ will only remove 1
space at end of line {1,}$ or [:space:]{1,}$ will
remove all spaces 1 to whatever.

It works perfectly for me. It replaces the space with a $ character, just
like expected (make sure ”☒ Regular expressions” is checked). If you don't
want the $ character, then just leave the Replace field empty.
I tried it a few seconds ago with LibreOffice 7.1.8.1 and it worked
perfectly. I suspect it works just as well with newer versions as well as
most older versions too.

In LibreOffice, the $ character doesn't mean a ”new line character”, it
doesn't work quite like that. A paragraph is kind of an object which
contains the actual text and all the properties of that paragraph (as far
as I understand it), so $ doesn't really mean ”a space followed by a
newline character”, it rather means ”a space at the end of a paragraph”. It
just specifies where to look for the space, nothing more. So you are not
replacing two characters with one, you are replacing one character with
nothing and you are doing it at the end of a paragraph.

At least that's the easiest way I can explain it.

I hope this helps.

Are you sure that replacing with $ actually worked in Apache OpenOffice?
I'm not sure, but it shouldn't, should it? Because Apache OpenOffice works
the same way as LibreOffice in this matter, working with objects and all
that. As I no longer have Apache OpenOffice installed I can't test it, so I
can't say for sure.

Kind regards

Johnny Rosenberg

Hi Stephen,

The gift_aid_schedule_libre_.ods file, which is easy to download from

First, you should check if you LibreOffice installation conflicts with
the faulty module by launching LibreOffice (double click on the program

a conflict, if the software opens, then there is a file specific conflict.

While you have to investigate with a Windows expert why your module is
faulty, you can try one of the following workarounds:

1. Download the Excel version of the same file, which is available from
the same page, and try to open it with LibreOffice (which is fully
compatible with MS Office files).

2. Install the portable version of LibreOffice from the following page:
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/portable-versions/. That version is
not accessing system resources, so it should opeen the file without issues.

3. Uninstall LibreOffice 7.1.2 and reinstall LibreOffice 7.0.5 (the
fourth digit is the release candidate version, so is not significant).

I hope one of these workaround works. Best regards.

You explicitly need to install the

You might like to try the following.
Given that your value is in field A1 in the form hh:mm:ss then you can do the
conversion by entering the following in another field
=(HOUR(A1)*60)+MINUTE(A1)+ROUND(SEC(A1/60),0)

It doesn't seem to matter if the value in A1 is in time format or text format.

I'm sure there are buffs out there who could offer a more elegant solution, but
the above seems to work all right for the cases I tried.

Cheers

You're welcome. But Brian Barker's suggestion is both more elegant and
simpler, because it considers takes account of times greater than 24
hours.

Say your time is in cell A1 in text format (e.g. '25:01:50)

Then adding the formula to another cell
=ROUND(a1*1440,0) or just ROUND(a1*1440) gives the right answer (1502),
whereas my previous formula would wrongly return 1 (hour) instead of
25, giving total 62.

Cheers
Harvey

I'm not sure if it is more elegant, but there is a simpler solution.
Time values are represented internally as numbers and fractions of
days, so it is unnecessary to unpack the separate hour, minute, and
second values. If you just multiply by 1440, the number of minutes in
a day, you will have the total number of minutes in the period:

=Xn*1440

Your rounding request is ambiguous.

o "Rounding up" would mean that any number of seconds other than zero
would cause another whole minute to be indicated. For that, choose:

=ROUNDUP(Xn*1440)

o If you want the extra minute only when the seconds value is more
than half a minute, normal rounding is appropriate:

=ROUND(Xn*1440)

o But note that normal rounding - as provided by the ROUND() function
- will round 30 seconds up to the next minute, as well as values over
30. If you really want exactly thirty seconds to be rounded down - a
non-standard type of rounding - you will have to work around this
yourself. But I guess that you probably don't mean that.

Incidentally, by mentioning the time format hh:mm:ss you imply that
what you are handling are times of day, but when you convert these to
minutes, they have the feel of time intervals, not times per se.
After all, no-one specifies times of day just in minutes. If you have
a period of time more than twenty-four hours, the hh:mm:ss format
will display the time as it would appear in a later day. So 25 hours,
for example, will appear as 01:00, or 1 a.m. the following day. You
can display such time intervals using the alternative format code [HH]:MM:SS.

This produces a difference between the unpacking method and simple
multiplication. If your time interval is 25 hours - 25:00:00 - the
HOUR() function will return this as 1 hour - meaning one o'clock -
whereas the multiplication method will respect the full 25 hours.
Only you can know which you need or if this matters.

I trust this helps.

Sorry, Tanstaafl!

There is a slight error in the above. The formula should read
=HOUR(A1)*60+MINUTE(A1)+ROUND(SECOND(A1)/60,0)

'SEC' is the secant function. Also 'MIN' would also be wrong since it
calculates the minimum of a set of values.

You might like to try the following.
Given that your value is in field A1 in the form hh:mm:ss
then you can do the conversion by entering the following in another
field
=(HOUR(A1)*60)+MINUTE(A1)+ROUND(SEC(A1/60),0)

It doesn't seem to matter if the value in A1 is in time format or text
format.

I'm sure there are buffs out there who could offer a more elegant
solution, but the above seems to work all right for the cases I tried.

In EXCEL you can do this:

A B C
1 2 3
=A2+3 =B2+3 =C2+3

(I used CTRL+T to show formulas, you should see the values 4,5,6)

When you select A1:C3, and choose 'Insert'/'Table'

After this, typing the value 7 in cell 'A4', en pressing 'Enter' results
in the fields B4 and C4 being updated with the same formula as in row 3.

How can this be achieved in LibreOffice Calc ?

You know, I'm about ready to do that.   After doing some experimentation
with Excel today, I found it just doesn't want to "play nice" with what
I'm trying to do.  I want to have an image as the spreadsheet header and
have the basic formulas update when I add/remove rows.  I'm sure with
enough time, I could get Excel to behave but I've been able to get what
I needed working far more easily with Calc.

I haven't given up, just yet, but I'm really surprised at how stubborn
Excel is, when it comes to the things I'm trying to do with it.  :(

Sort of.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice 4

        Are both empty.

C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\help

        Is not and "C:\Program

When on "main.html" results on Firefox URL
"file:///C:/Program%20Files/LibreOffice/help/en-US/text/swriter/main.html"
and displays correctly in browser.

You don't need to register a database if you want to use the database
standalone, for example without using form-letters.

There is no problem to create a new database as internal HSQLDB or
internal Firebird database. HSQLDB will be replaced in the future, but
there is a migration wizard that should do most of work here.

I would start with a Firebird database at this moment, because a
Firebird database will be the standard in future, offers some
interisting functions and doesn't need so much memory than a
HSQLDB-database.

Forms and reports will work the same way with both engines. I have just
migrated an example-database for the Base-Handbook. Works the same way,
but I had to change some queries before converting, because HSQLDB uses
some functions with different labels. For example: Firebird can't use
IFNULL, but HSQLDB and Firebird both work with COALESCE, which will work
the same way.

I have written a Base-Handbook in German. At this moment it will be
translated into English.
The German developement-version for LO 6.2 you could find here:
http://robert.familiegrosskopf.de/index.php
Older translations in English I have uploaded here:
http://robert.familiegrosskopf.de/lo_hb_en/
but the translation for each chapter hasn't been finished ...

You could copy the content of one table and paste it in Base. The
table-wizard will help you to get a table with the content. Note: Tables
must have a primary-key. If you have 3 tables, which have been
connected, you will have a primary-key. It is a little bit hidden in the
wizard where to mark the field for the primary-key. The screenshots in
the Handbook will help here.

> 3 >>        (Brian please, once more) what is the formula to calculate

DATEDIFF('year', "birthdate", CURRENT_DATE)
will be the version for HSQLDB.
DATEDIFF(year, "birthdate", CURRENT_DATE)
will be the version for Firebird.
But note: This isn't the right age for every person. Will be only right
at the last day of December. So the code must be changed. This is also
written down in the Handbook, chapter 8 (Tasks).

Congrats!! Re: [libreoffice-users] Help! Can't delete floating frame!

2018-10-15 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Congrats!! Nicely done! :)))

You don't need to add a floating frame, or any frame at all. Just drag the
image onto the page and position it. If you right-click on the image you
get choices such as;
* add border
* add caption
* anchor to paragraph or
* anchor to page
along with various "wrap" options to make the writing flow around the
image, or through the image, or give it a lot of space.

Sorry this is so late!
Good luck, congrats and regards from
a Tom :)

Hi,

n the Drwing toolbar, there is a select tool (white arrow). Select that
and draw a selection area around your floating frame (click-drag). This
should select the frame; at that point, hit "Delete".

I hope this helps.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help Please with VLOOKUP

2018-08-01 Thread John R. Sowden

Hope this helps:

I have a general Ledger spreadsheet.  1 of the pages is a chart of accounts:

COL A   COL B

1234 (Account Number) Rent (Account Name)

Another page is cash account data entry:

Account _ Data entry (must match the entry in the chart page)

ACCT NAME (formula below)

=if(M39="","",VLOOKUP(M39,$CHART.$A$9:$B114,2))

the if function checks to see if there is an entry in the acct number
cell.  if not, the acct name stays blank

the lookup checks the data entry cell, then looks on the CHART page from
A1 to B114 (both columns)

I have 114 GL accounts.

My complaint is about the help function not having the right information.

What kind of help is that? (Big hint: NOT.)

features of the application. LibreOffice can (and should) do better.

MR

Try Format > Page > Area > Bitmap.

You have to add your background image to the list of bitmaps shown on
the left side.  The only problem, for me, is getting the image options
the way I want it to look on the page. I use this a lot for making
posters for events - both Letter size, Tabloid [11"x17"] size paper
printed "in-house".

Does this help?

Hello Alice,

Maybe you could try using a different version of 5.3; right today the
5.3.6 has been released.

If that doesn't work... could you describe better your problem? Is there
a non active button?

And... supposing you're italian... there's also an italian users'

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help with Mail Merge

2017-08-30 Thread Remy Gauthier
Hello,

Sorry for the long response time, I only really saw your message today.
When I do mail merges, I use the "Data Sources" available from the View
menu (Ctrl+Shift+F4) to select my data source and filter what I want to
use for the merge, and then to activate the mailing wizard (the button
looks like 3 stacked envelopes and is the third one from the right). Is
this what you are trying to use or is it something else?

Maybe it's the button for the basic mail merge that is missing in that
version? Then you can add it from the Tools -> Customize -> Add a
command, and then you can find the Mailing Button in the category
"Document". One you have the button, you can place it on a tool bar and
use it from there. Not sure anymore what the differences are between
the two, but I remember trying both and finding the one available via
the Data Sources to be more flexible and perhaps easier to use.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Rémy Gauthier.

I don't know if it is a problem of all platform.

In LO 6 I get the icons.

What do you think about?

In the help click on the placeholder so that is gets green handles. Copy
it to clipboard by shortcut key Ctrl+C. Paste it in a Writer document.
Open its property dialog and look at the tab "Image", what you see in
the field "Link". For me it is
vnd.libreoffice.image://helpimg/media/helpimg/note.png

That means, that LO is looking for the image in a file images_helpimg.zip.

For an older version it might be
vnd.libreoffice.image://tango/res/helpimg/note.png

Then LO would look for the icon in a images_tango.zip file.

Then goto the installation folder, then to subfolder "share" and therein
subfolder "config". Do you see such file? If it is not there, then there
has been an error in packing and you should write a bug report.

Images, which are only used in the help, were removed from the
icon-themes and put into its own file.

To get your icons, download a developer version, which has language
support, install it and copy the file into your productive LO version.

Or.. The file is only 575KB. So if you drop me a note, I can email you
the file directly.

Kind regards
Regina

How may I fix the lookup table when I copy the file down a column please?

Add "$" symbols where it pertains.

In your case, your formula should look like:
VLOOKUP(E2,Sheet2.$A$2:$B$690,2,0)

Note that, when entering a formula, the F4 key (newer versions of LO) or
Shift+F4 combination (older versions) could help.

Hey Bernardo,

I don't understand what your problem is. Please explain further.

Are you trying to rename a batch of files?

Are you trying to save a series of files using similar names?

Are you trying to make a file read only so that you don't overwrite it?

What operation system are you using on your computer?

Don't know which Handbook you mean. The Handbook Base says:

- -
Calc or Excel spreadsheets can also be used as the table source for
databases. If, however, a Calc spreadsheet is used, no editing of the
table data will be possible.
- -

Could be the translation from German to English isn't clear enough,
but I haven't written anywhere in German Base-Handbuch you could use a
spreadsheet for data-input in Base or by a form in Writer.

I have created many databases, also with the internal HSQLDB. While
creating reports I got some troubles, but the users seem to have no
troubles for a long time with these databases.

For professional use I would prefer an external database like MySQL,
connected with Base.

You could use an external database also. If a spreadsheet will save
the data you need, a dBase-file will do this also.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help with LO Forms

2017-02-16 Thread Ian Whitfield

Thanks Guys - Appreciated!!

But I'm confused. The Handbook says Calc can be used as the datasource
for a Form in Writer.
But even Alexander's method still gives me no option to select the
Registered Spreadsheet (The options box remains empty)!!

The other replies tell me Calc can _NOT_ do this (But the Handbook says
it can!!??)

Everyone else wants me to use Base but I'm NOT interested in this at all
as I battled with it for 7 years and could never get a stable set-up. It
crashed frequently and usually took all the data with it or 'gabbled'
the data - so you spend more time with back ups and patching damaged
data records. I can not let the end user have such an unstable program
to work with. I hoped the Calc/Writer Form would prove more reliable.

So if this can not work I'll have to move to Kexi which is rock solid,

With best regards

Re: [libreoffice-users] Help with LO Forms

2017-02-16 Thread Paul D. Mirowsky

Sorry, I wasn't being clear.

On the webpage at:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Importing_and_Exporting_Data_in_Base
you will find:

*Importing data to Base*
*You can import* text files, *spreadsheet files*, and your system
address book in read-only mode only.
*When you import from a* text or*spreadsheet file, the file must have a
first row of header information. The second row of the file is the first
valid data row. The format of every field in the second row determines
the format for the entire column. Any format information from a
spreadsheet file gets lost when importing to Base.*
For example, to ensure the first column has a text format, you
must make sure that the first field of the first valid data row contains
text. If a field in the first valid data row contains a number, the
whole column is set to number format, and only numbers, no text, will be
shown in that column.

*Open a Base file of the database type that you want.*
Either create a new Base file using the Database Wizard, or open
any existing Base file that is not read-only.
*Open the Calc file that contains the data to be imported to Base*. You
can open a *.dbf dBASE file or many other file types.

*Select the data to be copied to Base*.
You can enter a range reference like A1:X500 in the Name Box if you
don't want to scroll.
If you copy a dBASE sheet, include the top row that contains the
header data.

*Choose Edit - Copy*.
*In the Base window, click Tables to view the tables.**
**In the Base window, choose Edit - Paste.*
*You see the Copy Table dialog. Most databases need a primary key, so
you may want to check the Create primary key box.**

*
On Windows systems, you can also use drag-and-drop instead of Copy
and Paste. Also, for registered databases, you can open the datasource
browser (press F4) instead of opening the Base window.

This won't help. The Calc-file is the content of the database. Data
haven't been exported into Base or something else (Firebird ...). So
Ian has first to export the data- and I don't know if he doesn't need

This won't work. You can't use a a table in Calc as a database and
edit this data in a form of the database or in a form of wirter.
Tables of a spreadsheet aren't editable in Base, You could only search
througt that data, filter them but can't change them.

I just dumped my ASE palettes into /opt/Libreoffice5/share/palettes,
then tested it, by opening a file to change the colour of font. It worked!

Assuming permission to distribute can be obtained, it might
easier/simpler to distribute them using an extension --- perhaps the
same one as proposed for the .soc etc. files.

The "hard" part is knowing where that appropriate place is.

Hai Jonathon,

You are correct concerning ase palettes. Chris Laplante added this feature on
request of Philipp Weissenbacher about one and a half years ago (I sponsored
this feature through freedomsponsors.org back then). However, the feature is not
complete yet, because you have to add the palettes by hand at the moment.

See https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92354

Hopefully this can be finished sometime in the (near?) future.

I found the Resene color palette from a site that discussed color
palettes. Here is the site's URL.

http://people.csail.mit.edu/jaffer/Color/CSDR

The site has several different PDF files for the different color sorting
options.

The link you provided at the "groups.io" requires a user/password to
access the site. So I do not know what they offer. The .soc file[s] I
want to create will be offered at the LO Extension site as a .soc file.
If someone knows how to create an extension that automatically installs
the file in the proper config folder, please let me know. Since I use
Linux, I know where the the .soc files are located. It would be better
to have extension do the work for you.

For those who look at the link I provided here, there are over 1300
colors in the Renese palette. There are other versions of there
palette. Renese colors is a paint palette. I have an older PDF file
that has a MIT.edu link to a Renese-2010 PDF file. The link I provided
to the MIT side has several Renese files that are color sorted by
different methods. I like the following version.

http://swiss.csail.mit.edu/~jaffer/CSDR/resene-s.pdf

Thanks to Rémy Gauthier, I now have the Renese text file RGB color list
to one that is a HEX version. Now I just need to finish the needed
parts of the .soc file, including the Renese copyright that must
included with the color coding to make the .soc file. After that, I
will upload it to a folder and provide the link so others can test it on
their systems. Then, hopefully, I will place the .soc file with the LO
Extension site.

Re: [libreoffice-users] help with standard.soc file color defining

2017-02-09 Thread Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster

Does not help much. There are over 1500 named colors in the text file.
Actually Renese colors are actually their line of paint colors. It was
nice of Renese to share their colors as long as you add their copyright
text in the .soc file "somewhere".

If anyone has a C++ or Python script that would do this, it would be
nice. I just do not remember how to do this in either language anymore.

On 02/09/2017 04:00 PM, Remy Gauthier wrote:

Hello,

You can use the "BASE" function of CALC to convert the numbers to
hexadecimal notation. The syntax is BASE(number, base, #digits); for
instance, converting the 44 of the zydeco color would be someting like
=BASE(44,16,2) which gives 2C.

And if you want, you can use a combination of CONCATENATE and BASE to
re-create the XML of the colors which you could then easily cut/paste
to the destination file.

I hope this helps.

The Renese "people" will allow the use of their color names, as long

My problem is the .soc files I have are all in HEX format, and when

I

add a color in RGB format, that color and the next HEX color are

I really want to use their palette for a additional palette called

So can any one help me with this issue? Below is the first few

Can I replace the 'draw:color="#008000"/>' with
