[vchkpw] qmail-1.03 | vpopmail-5.2.1 | qmail-smtp-auth-.03

2003-01-15 Thread Joe Oaks
Hello guys its been a while.

I have been trying over the past couple of weeks to get smtp-auth working with
no success. I have patched qmail and re-ran make setup check to make the new
binaries. This seems to have worked because my qmail-smtp file is now 32bites
larger :)

I have also installed the recommended cmd5checkpw. I'm still unable to get this
to work, and I'm asking for help as I'm at a lose and really need to get this
working.

The following is my run script for qmail-smtpd...

#!/bin/sh
QMAILDUID=`id -u qmaild`
NOFILESGID=`id -g qmaild`
VPOPMAILID=`id -u vpopmail`
VPOPMAILGID=`id -g vchkpw`
MAXSMTPD=`cat /var/qmail/control/concurrencyincoming`
LOCAL=`head -1 /var/qmail/control/me`
if [ -z $QMAILDUID -o -z $NOFILESGID -o -z $MAXSMTPD -o -z $LOCAL ];
 then
echo QMAILDUID, NOFILESGID, MAXSMTPD, or LOCAL is unset in
echo /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/run
exit 1
fi
exec /usr/local/bin/softlimit -m 400 /usr/local/bin/tcpserver -H -l0 -R -c
512 -x /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb  -u $VPOPMAILID -g $VPOPMAILGID 0 smtp
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd $LOCAL /u2/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /bin/true

I am able to send and receive normally if I have my ip address in the tcp.smtp
file but if I take it out I can't send. As far as I can tell it does not know
how or where to authenticate.

Joe

PS please let me know if you need anything else from me.

yes its a directory with drwx-- for each directory

I have checked that and it is not a symlink nor is it an

Also checking vuserinfo for [EMAIL PROTECTED] shows
[root@tc1 bin]# ./vuserinfo [EMAIL PROTECTED]

so according to that it should be going to seperate

the trells.com domain new directory instead of mmz.org's new

This has been covered, check the archives more :)

1) how are your current accounts held,
   /etc/password
   mysql db

2) there is vconvert command that will convert to a usuable format
   for vpopmail.

3) the archives have an example script you can do if your user names
   and passwords are in a text file. Search for post from me, as I

The correct list is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 qmailadmin, is there a way to set the domain in the login screen so
 we don't have to keep typing it in?

go to the dir where you untarred the qmailadmin source

cd html

vi show_login.html
  scroll about 1/2 way down and look for the html like this :
input type=text size=14 name=domain maxlength=128
  change it to something like :
input type=text size=14 name=domain value=mydomain.com
maxlength=128
  save and exit

make
make install-strip

guess I will have to just tell the users there IP's instead of dns name.

If you use the vpopmail with the mysql backend, then you could add an
additional column to the table so that each user has a field
that stores the date their password was last changed

Then you could crontab a daily script that scans the SQL looking for users
with old passwords

Perhaps email them a warning at 5 months, and then lock them out at 6
months.
The lockout could be achieved by setting the NO_POP, NO_WEBMAIL etc flags on
their account
That way their mailbox will still receive mail, but they just wont be able
to pick it up

I have some basic info showing how you can setup vpopmail w/mysql backend at
http://www.pipeline.com.au/staff/mbowe/isp/vpopmail-mysql.htm

Michael.

[vchkpw] newbie help?

2002-10-25 Thread Joe Oaks
Hello guru's

I recently have been tasked with the project of providing a email solution
for a project at work. They currently use sendmail with qpopper for some
500 aliases and send/receive a little more than 400,000 messages a month.

Now comes the fun part they are about to migrate the North and South
Americas
mail.support which is currently housed on Exchange (ewww). So in light of
this
there sendmail/qpopper will quickly get over ran.

I have convinced them to allow me to setup qmail as a solution for them, and
they have accepted it, woot.

Now I have done some reading and implementing on a test box with the
following,
qmail + qmailadmin + vpopmail + autoresponder + ezmlm (just incase they want
mailing list) + clamav + qmailscanner. All works great, and they love it.

Now here is my question to you guys, when I create a virtual domain e.g.
mailsupport.hp.com (this has the current 500 aliases) and I start adding
users
via qmailadmin and the vpopmail, I'm have noticed something I hope you guys
can
help me fix. Say I create a user called lj4050 (laserjet 4050) his email
address
is [EMAIL PROTECTED], and his login is [EMAIL PROTECTED], is
there
a way to make his login just lj4050 and not have the @domain part?

OK, finally, after removing everything and reinstalling all, it works.
I guess in my original installs I botched something.
I have tested and it works great.

Thanks, guys

Joe

This may help, I had a similar problem in the past. This is from a Ken
Jones post.

 Edit /var/qmail/users/assign and remove any entries.
 run /var/qmail/bin/qmail-newu

 check /home/vpopmail/domains for a directory of
 that name. If needed, recursively remove the directory
 and all it's sub directories.

 Check /var/qmail/control/* files
 grep domain /var/qmail/control/*
 Remove any mention of the domain.

 Signal qmail-send that the control files have changed.
 killall -HUP qmail-send

 The above works on default installations of qmail
 and linux systems.

 However when I try
 vadddomain mailsupport.hp.com 'test'
 I get the error Domain already exists, and yet there is nothing in the
 domains
 directory, and no password file?
 What did I do wrong?

for this when you compile qmail, edit the qmail-send.c file... yep that

Hi Guys !
   I'm running Qmail + Vpopmail Qmailadmin under Daemontools and
Tcpserver env. During the installation of Qmail Vpopmail I
applied qmail-toaster-0.4.2-patch for Smpt-Auth support by
qmail-smtpd and MailDir quota support by qmail-pop3dbut prob is
when qmail-smtpd receives mail from network it does not verify
serder's mail address wether it's a valid domain address or not...
to fix this prob I tried to apply SPAMCONTROL patch to qmail-smtp
for DNS Stub-resolver... but I cannot apply this coz of
Qmail-toaster patch... would u pls tell me how can I apply both of
these patches together.

Thanx.
