I've been unsuccessfully trying to build the latest security patch

Ok, I see they're shipping the same version which is available from

Also check the page where you found the patch carefully.
Sometimes you can find an updated ebuild that works with
that patch in the same page, so you don't have to patch it
yourself.
You need to examine the patch and clear up whether it's
a patch for the app or for the ebuild itself.

One more question if I might. What does this message mean? I'm
guessing that a patch in my patch file has already been applied in

You know I don't run Gentoo, right?
That looks weird to me - building 470.182.03 but patching it with

I copied "/usr/bin/patch" from another (glibc-2.27) Gentoo system.
Patching now works, but at every emerge (for e
Hi list,
just now my Acer TM2313 is emerging system at home. If I return home
from work I plan to complete the installation.
My question: Is gentoo-sources patched with the acpi_sbs patch or will I
need to get it somewhere and patch it myself?
Googling around I found (on the Gentoo forum ;) that

That IS what the patch file looks like. It will alter your Makefile, and
the epatch function in portage is smart enough to try apply the patch
to the following files in order:
/root/tmp-new/Makefile
tmp-new/Makefile
Makefile
If that doesn't work, the patch itself is faulty

Hey Alan,
The official repository I think is
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/.
What I would do is apply your patch on top of that, and then to update
it, rebase the patch onto th

It's been happening to me increasingly often in the last few
months/years. I don't like it.
Here is a recipe for reproducing the phenomenon. A typical way of
invoking patch is by supplying the patch file to standard input:

latest iptables and the same result. Obviously gentoo-sources is
