You need to add the 'mod' useflag like this.
media-libs/sdl-m

* No mixer config in /etc/asound.state, you have to unmute your card!
Well, sorry, but audio works fine on this portable.
Sure enough, /etc/asound.state does not even exist on this system.
Also, when I fire up fro
init.d/alsasound start' I got this error message:

I was saying the libsdl packages have a USE flag "sound" which builds the
sound module for sdl. So if qemu makes any calls to the sound module not
pure alsa calls, that might be causing your issue.
Wabes USE flag output shows he's building sdl with the "sound" use flag

xpect a new Debian release before OOo finishes building :)
I've got 256MB of RAM plus 1GB of swap space. I'm sort of
torturing the poor machine -- in addition to the OOo build, I'm

With the two emerge jobs running, th

After an emerge --sync, two of the packages that were in my world list
for updating were smpeg and sdl-mixer. The first to update was smpeg
and it bombed. The last line before the emerge bombed was:

OKie dOKie, I set USE=wayland globally and just installed dev-libs/efl-
and x11-wm/enlightenment- from bar overlay. I had to disable opengl and
sdl, enable egl gles and a number of packages were emerged/re-emerged.
