I got a very convincing call from a guy saying my insurance has lapsed and I need to pay Rs 50,000 to revive it. The language that the guy spoke indicated that he has worked for a few years in the industry. I refused to pay immediately online and asked for the details. After the call, I immediately checked with the insurance company call center and they said no such policy number exists and confirmed that this is a scam that is going around. Another caller said, since I recently purchased a car, I will get two hotel nights free if I come for a presentation that evening. I said I will check with my wife and get back. I checked online for the reviews of this company and those were pretty nasty. Blocked the number. Just buy time. Never respond immediately.
