I don't know what you have available with Juno, Sandee, but most e-mail programs or web-mail systems give you some kind of facility for sorting incoming messages according to some attribute or another. Example: Your message to the list just now has these headers at the top, as presented in my e-mail program... ------- Forwarded message follows ------- Date forwarded: Wed, 19 May 2010 09:04:33 -0700 From: Sandee George <oha...@juno.com> To: silver-list@eskimo.com Subject: Re: CS>[List Owner] Off Topic List Date sent: Wed, 19 May 2010 12:06:57 -0400 Forwarded by: silver-list@eskimo.com Send reply to: silver-list@eskimo.com Another message that you just sent to the Off Topic List looks like this: ------- Forwarded message follows ------- Date forwarded: Wed, 19 May 2010 09:01:42 -0700 From: Sandee George <oha...@juno.com> To: silver-off-topic-l...@eskimo.com Subject: Re: SO>Re: CS>Lyme disease Date sent: Wed, 19 May 2010 12:04:05 -0400 Forwarded by: silver-off-topic-l...@eskimo.com Send reply to: silver-off-topic-l...@eskimo.com There are lots of differences you can filter on. At minimum, every message from the OT list should have SO> in the Subject. The more reliable thing to sort on would be the Forwarded by: header. The biggest problem might be getting your mail program or web-mail to SHOW you enough information to distinguish one mail from the other. Software designers seem to think we're all too delicate to be subjected to such nuts-and-bolts technical stuff, so they do their best to keep users in the dark. At minimum, every message from the OT list should have SO> in the Subject. The more reliable thing to sort on would be something like the Forwarded by: header. The net result of learning how to sort your mail would be having a separate folder or mailbox for each mailing list, as well as being able to route other common incoming mail however you want to arrange it. You'll have to poke around in the menus or options pages, consult tech support, or do some creative Googling to find out if message sorting is possible with the software you're using, and/or if it's possible to show more of the header information so you can manually identify where the messages are coming from. Does that at least partially answer your question? Be well, Mike D.
