Well, what I finally did was in easy steps.

Scenario. Redhat with System Imager Server 3.4.1 (stable).
Client xSeries IBM Machine with qlogic storage. For qlogic drivers I
use I needed the kernel 2.6 version.

Steps:

* Download latest unstable source of system imager 3.5.3.

* Modify initrd_src/skel/etc/init.d/function files to match the
version STRING. or you can disable the "check_version" funcion in that
same path of the file rcS.

* Modify patches/linux.i386.config file to match the kernel you want.

* Do a make initrd. Get the initrd resulting in the initrd_src directory.

* Go to kernel config and compile it to get the bzImage.


And voilá, you try that kernel and initrd for the autoinstall... It
seems to work for now on my testing machine.. will try in the real
client tomorrow... so more thorough testing tomorrow.
